I have the T Rex and have been wearing it for over a year. I use it to monitor my surfing. I recently upgraded to the T Rex 2 and really like it. Amazfit offered it on sale for $169.00 love both watches.
Ended up ordering this and I have to say it's my new favorite watch. Tested it against my Garmin and Suunto and it's just as accurate as them. On the road, on the trails/in the mountains, in the pool (lap swim). Both GPS and HR are on par with my other watches. I love the Amoled screen, it's bright and crystal clear. The only thing I wish they would have had to truly make it an outdoorsy rugged watch is a Sapphire screen. It probably would have raised the price a bit but so what.
This really shows how high Garmin's margins are on their watch hardware. However, they do have a much better app experience and fantastic customer support - all of which you pay a premium for.
It's impressive that they managed to cram these specs into this price point. But yeah, the "experience" isn't quite the same when compared to a Garmin!
@@briskwalker you just need to let them go through the motions. I found that if I took a video of the problem, and uploaded it somewhere they can access, they can watch the problem happen and it helps them bypass most of the junk troubleshooting.
"fantastic customer support" Yeah, hmmm... No. I had a power button literally disintegrate on my Garmin Edge 1000, after only a four year of moderate use. After googling a bit, turns out I was not the only one, oh no. A lot of people reported the issue. And what was the Garmin's response? Well, there was none. They completely ignore it. Top of the line, premium cycling computer, no support whatsoever. Thanks Garmin!
Haha I actually watched the full review although I have no inclinations to buy anything but garmin. Just because I am so invested in their eco system over the years. I know in reality its not a big deal but I like to keep all may data in one place.
Been binge watching about Amazfit T 2 watch and planning to buy it next week. The thing i like the most about this watch is the amazing build the watch is not easily scratch or damaged so it's a perfect watch for me
Definitely it will be my sports watch from now on :) I'm a casual runner, I prefer hiking. For serious metrics and navigation I will keep my unconfortable but reliable Garmin Oregon 700, and for my day to day activity (even for my life) I will use this watch. Now the navigation features are enabled, so I will use them for easy hikes in known territory. Thank you very much for the review!
Great review! Been looking at this watch for a while now & lately been comparing it to other more expensive options (like garmin & samsung). I will say I am not a huge athlete, cycling & hiking mostly so the lack of sensor support isn't a huge issue for me. After watching this review I have pretty much made my choice, the T-Rex Pro 2 will likely be my new smartwatch.
This is a surprisingly good watch. So much data and feedback. Used it for tennis and got forehand backhand and serve stats. Crazy as this is just one of so many sport profiles. I am seriously surprised by this gem. Battery life, feedback, GoPro control, camera control, music control. I am very surprised. I have garmin epix and fenix 7, Suunto 9 peak, polar grit x pro, and i would place this at the top of my daily watch.
Garmin sleep tracking annoys the hell out of me. I work day and night shifts and when you pair that with family and everything in between, naps are very important. It would be nice if my Garmin told me how much sleep i got in total during the day, before i head of into the night. Great vid as always Dave👍
Good review. I've had the amazfit gtr (1) for over 2 years and it's still going strong though I don't think still being updated. my battery life is still about 12 days with daily use for either running or cycling, this beats other watches hands down. Will be looking to upgrade soon to get the latest features
It's an attractive package for the asking price. But a manufacturer's experience and dependability is worth paying for. Thanks for the review. I'd probably go for the Garmin Solar Instinct 2. Why Casio G-Shock are not in this game, I don't know.
I have the instinct 2 solar and epix gen 2... I wear the instinct more lmao. its amazing. simple, yet brutal, and has all the functions that I use on my epix, minus the maps but thats fine. anytime I go on a long hike or camping, I just slap the epix on
I currently owned an Amazfit Pace watch for the last 4 years and found the quality to be very good, it still works great and looks great. Probably loss a day or two from he original 7 day battery life. So i find the new Amazfit T-Rex 2 very interesting and will do everything i want a sports watch to do. Btw i only run marathons so it will be a good replacement for my 'still' working Amazfit Pace.
I've been pondering over the purchase of a sports watch to motivate me to get back in shape (I'm 65) and have been holding back because of the cost of the one's worthy... Yesterday, I seen the Amazfit T-Rex 2 for $199 at the Amazfit site and $179.99 on Amazon.... then I seen a seller offering it for $35.03. Ever heard of Ali Express? I did some GOOGLE searches and they actually have good reviews, though some said their delivery for China was excessive. I went for it and ordered it. Total cost was $38.33 with an estimated delivery date of Feb 25th. I'll report back! Thanks for the review!
I bought the T-Rex Pro. Love it (though I'd like an improved display based on ePaper). As for shock at the lower price ... ? Watch prices are so darn inflated for the big brands. We all knew that. AmazaFit took advantage.
I just bought one today based on your review. I’m not very active and want a watch to help me start getting healthy. This seemed like a great place to start monitoring my progress! Thanks for a very in-depth review
I upgraded to the T-Rex 2 today from the Amazfit Bip 3 Pro because of the multi-band GPS you mentioned. I don't like having erratic course tracking when I'm running timed - but ad hoc - routes. We'll see if it's an improvement...
I am so happy with this upgrade to the T-Rex and thanks for your great review. I got it yesterday and did a 10k training run this morning. The multi-gps accuracy was so much better than the Bip 3 Pro! The route, heart-rate, pace and splits were great! I have been disappointed with sports watches for over 20 years now and FINALLY I'm so glad I have the T-Rex, blatant advertising inscription notwithstanding! Thanks for your great review! It made all the difference!
I've been wearing this watch almost everyday for the past year. Some things I like are it is very durable, user friendly, customizable, and the battery life is amazing. I crashed my motorcycle at 35mph and slid on the watch and it got scratched up but the lense did not break or crack. Some things I do not like is you can not change the wrist bands, it does not lay flat when you set it down on a table/desk, it is very bulky and overall a big watch. Not sure how accurate the HR Monitor is but good enough for me. Tracks steps very accurately, and vibrates on your wrist for Notifications like Text, Instagram, Snapchat, Email, Etc.
I was debating this watch and waiting for this review. Great review as always. The one thing I didn't like about the T-rex gen 1 is it felt like a cheap/light piece of crap when holding it (just my opinion). But this seems to be a good deal and buy for the price.
The T-Rex 2 has a nice feel to it. It feels much more robust than the original Pro model. It also has a more premium look on the wrist. Hope that helps!
I have been looking into this watch and happy to see you review it. I prefer nylon straps and they make adapters to go from its odd connection to a 22mm quick release. Great video!
Once you use a newer SOC, multi band gps usually comes for free but I get it it’s a testament how recent the technology is for the Amazfit. I hope it will put some pressure on Garmin and Apple because let’s face it their watches are awesome but overpriced in my view
@@ChaseTheSummit So far, so good. Obviously the direct comparison is with the Garmin Epix 2 for its size and style, and we can say that in terms of features this watch is quite complete. The body construction doesn't have the same materials as the Garmin, but it feels pretty solid to me. The screen is excellent, crystal clear, great contrast and black levels. Syncing with Strava works, data fields during workouts are interesting. GPS is precise. Notification alerts and music control working with iPhone. The watchfaces are very pretty, and here’s the only downside: they're not “interactive”, you can't click on a watch face and it takes you to the app (like clicking on the weather and opens the weather app). They are dynamic, yes, but not interactive. Nothing that really detracts from the experience. So far, finally an alternative to the Apple Watch with a reasonable price. 😀
just got a new t rex 2. with the layest update it connects to my h9 chest strap for running. weight training mode is great. notifications work perfect. i love it
Hi! Love your videos! Now you can connect other devices such as HR bands. Just get the software update. For me, as a trailrunner, is amazing. Cheers and happy new year
LAST QUESTION :-) Thanks to your review I bought the watch and did a biking test and I like it. ONE PROBLEM: The watch is lacking a Geographic Location Coordinates View (latitude/longitude) which is the most critical and the most practical feature of any GPS device. It's good that the T-Rex 2 has pre-designed routes, but what will save your life in nature (mountaineering, hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, orienteering, etc) is to be able to see your geographic location whenever you need it, to find out where you are, and with that information refer to a “detailed paper map” which does not run out of batteries. The Amazfit T-Rex 2 does not have the storage capacity for detailed mapping... but having a small window with a geographic location option and working in conjunction with a paper map makes the digital storage unnecessary and greatly extends the usefulness of the watch GPS feature. I had an odd experience that I am not sure I imagine or was real: while dealing with a loaded hiking route I thought I saw a window that showed my geolocation, but when I was back home I could not make it happen again. ANY HELP WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED😎
thanks for the video, good to see that amazfit is making progress especially with HR data and battery life. It's kind of odd they don't have breadcrumb navigation, they had that on other models 5 years ago
Outstanding review!! Thank you for sharing your objective thoughts. After extensive research I just ordered the Amazfit T-Rex 2 to replace TomTom Spark 3 that died. The Amazfit T-Rex 2 price point works for me along with long battery life as a marathon runner. Versatility with other Apps included, heart rate, sleep, weather and GPS is awesome.
So far the Amazfit T-Rex 2 meets up to ALL features in the advertising and in this video. In addition to tracking my health and wellness, it acts like a personal assistant providing me with news, weather and social media updates that are of value to me. So I don't have to look at my phone as often. I'm currently testing battery life. Last charge was 07-10-2022. As of today 07-14-2022 the battery is at 81%. Ver impressive performance for my very active life style
I use the ultra cheap Amazfit GTS 2 mini and works impressively well. The only exceptions are in open water swimming (I attach the watch on the buoy), in the swimming pool the watch have problems to count accurately when you do changes of pace and no heart data un any type of swimming practice.
I am getting this for $200 in India. I think that is a very decent price for this watch. I was using a Samsung Watch before this which died a few weeks ago. Its my birthday on 31st July. I guess I am buying myself a birthday gift. Thank you for the review. Your review cleared a lot of doubts and filled in a lot of gaps. Well done, and stay safe.
The new software update on the TREX2 some months ago allowed pairing external sensors like heart rate monitor and other stuff. Also the exported files now also give heart rate data. :) Been using the TREX2 i just bought a week ago.
Great review, I am using Trex Pro for over a year already, and still in good build quality looks good as new considering its my everyday use watch. I like Garmin smart watches but the price is to high for me. I was planning to buy the Amazfit Trex 2 as an upgrade, but I think I will go for the Huawei GT Runner instead🙂
I just ordered one. I was looking a 2019 model Garmin Fenix 6x, but it is almost 3 times the price and it's old tech. This will be my first smart watch, looking forward to the experience. I am one that is not in the ultra marathon stuff, I don't even want to be able to take calls on my watch. Heart rate, sleep, steps are what I am after and a rugged construction. Thanks for the video
Looks like a great upgrade from the first iteration. But...given the discounts now on the Fenix 6 it would be a hard sell on the amoled screen alone. You get so much more tried and tested functionality with the F6. It looks like a good option for the casual exerciser who isnt anal about data, navigation and/or sensors Good review Dave!
easy sell for me... i have a F6 sapphire and i hate the lack of touchscreen so damn much... trying to justify 1 grand for the Epix for a few days now... but i can't ... guess i try the T-Rex
Funnily enough I have ended up buying this and it's an awesome watch. The issues at launch (IE no external sensors or navigation) have been rectified. It's now £199 in the UK which is outstanding,!! The data is actually very good however I do miss body battery.
This is amazing and sort of shows that the other manufacturers need to up their game. I have always been curious about these non-mainstream offerings that you can assume are mostly made in the same/similar factories. Like you, I am not thrilled with the branding which is important for something you'd be wearing the whole time. Thanks for the review.
Something to consider is the fact that most of these export-related companies running in China are funded/subsidized by the govt to compete against similar international brands like Garmin, Suntoo, etc. They are giving interest free or low interest loans to run these companies. Though Garmin has manufacturing facilities in China and Taiwan, Manufacturing costs charged for these brands will essentially be higher than if they were produced for local brands. Plus Garmin and other international brands have hundreds of other employees working from different locations and comparing they cost to companies which completely operate mostly of China is also unfair as all these things contribute to the costs.
Very swift video pal! This is the best watch I've had for the money so far. I've upgraded to it myself 6 months ago, from a BT-enabled G-Shock with a flat battery after 3 years. My second job currently is very static and I like to listen to audiobooks/music during it however it's very much in view of the public - the music controls and text messages come in clutch when you can't have your phone in hand. I also go for long hikes on a monthly basis and I can upload my .GPX route-plan file onto the watch, to navigate offline whilst tracking the workout. Battery with balanced/most of the satellites, auto brightness and no AOD has been running me 15 to 20 days so far. The strap is comfortable however it's best to take off the watch before bed and pat it dry after showers or doing the dishes if you're susceptible to watch-rashes
The lack of external sensors is a deal breaker for me. I previously had an Amazfit Pace, which is a much more basic watch and that actually supported external chest straps HR monitors. I'm currently on a Coros Apex and I was looking for something new as support on this model was basically ended by Coros.
Mario, I am also an Apex user and happy with it but I'm looking for something new (for the same reason you are) and this review caught my eye. I use my Apex with a Polar H10 and can't believe they don't support this. It seems odd as the watch is Bluetooth capable so I don't understand why it can't be programmed to accept external HR monitors, etc. Bummer because it looks like a nice watch and the price is good as well. I keep waiting for an Apex 2...we'll see I guess.
Yes, I agree. Difficult to believe that with all the functions it can't use a simple bluetooth connection to an external HR monitor. Any wrist-based sensor is very susceptible to inaccuracy/drop-out, which can ruin the recording or a workout/run etc. I was looking at this watch as a replacement for my old Polar M430 - but I'll stick with the M430 as it works brilliantly with the H10 chest monitor, over a huge range of activities.
Man.....I'm here a year later looking at your review and wondering if I should return my Galaxy Watch 6, and get this t rex 2! I'm tired of the battery life with Galaxy watches and I love my g shocks! You're swaying me lol. Great video, and new sub!
Interesting review. I would be interested in buying the t rex 2 especially for the price when compared with a similar watch from Garmin. The problem, however, concerns the impossibility of coupling other sensors, in my case the power and cadence sensors when I train on a bike. In addition to this, but the problem could be solved with a future update, it bothers me a bit the failure to import maps to follow on the watch. Do you know if, from the date of your review to today, the situation has changed? Even if it hasn't been many days. Congratulations again for your review, thank you.
Yeah its a bummer about sensor support. It's such a simple thing and the watch already has Bluetooth so I'm not sure why they didn't add it in software?
To pair with external bluetooth HR sensor like a chest strap start a sports profile, go to this activity settings page and add a sensor. This should work. The biggest weakness of all Amazfit devices are the HR sensor. Now they have a new one. We will see if the situation improves.
I really enjoyed using Amazfit Trex 2. For me as a light user, - all notifications are on for my social media - heart rate scan every 1 minute 24h - stress detection 24h - sleep monitor 24h - breathing monitor 24h - blood oxygen monitor 24h - alarm - all notifications and call settings with highest vibration *i had thick skin*, all this can get me through normally 27days a single charge. Being using/wearing it everyday for almost 1 years with no problems, sometimes can't even find where i put the charger because of it long lasting battery. 😂
Great review mate. Had the first gen T-Rex pro and had real problems with WhatsApp on it. Terrible customer support has put me off any future purchases of T-Rex. For me the instinct 2 is worth the extra money
I have the amaze fit T. rex and I’m happy with it. Lasts for days on a single charge. Battery does go faster when you use features like when you exercise. But otherwise reliable for those who want reliability
Great review. Thank you for introducing me to the different gear options; it's very helpful!!! Used you a lot before buying my first watch (245M). Wish they put music storage in it. It's a must for me thus limited with my options. Other than that it looks amazfiting :-)
Hi Dave! The watch comes now with an upgrade ( end of 2022): heartrate monitor-finally, vo2max calculation. What do you think? Are you making an update video? Thanks so far Richie
Certainly not the premium watch for the most accurate monitoring or application consumption, but for the built quality I got with that price, I would say yes :)
I really like the presentation. Really one of the best review , unfortunately you did not show some of the durability of the watch considering it claims to be "rugged"
Yes it definitely was! About gpx, in earlier version you had to put in via cable to gpx folder. If this will be in update, the watch looks decent for the money. Do you know maybe if soccer mode still gives in app heatmap ?
Great video as usual. I’ve always been a gadget guy and have owed literally every brand of smart/fitness watch. This one has become my number one choice, due mostly to battery life. The feature set is similar to my venu 2 plus, infact it’s better. It kicks my Apple watch to the curb with battery life of course - battery life has always been the only thing I don’t like about the Apple watch, it’s simply a bad joke. If this watch would connect to Siri like the venu 2 plus, I would get rid of all of my other watches. And they need to add external sensor support. Maybe the T Rex 3 will add those features.
Another great review!!! I reached out to Amazfit recently and confirmed that this watch cannot pair with an external heart rate sensor. Amazfit has another watch coming out relatively soon (Vienna) so I’m curious to see what that offers.
Funny thing is that in every product page I see, there is a photo of a page for adding external accessories, just like my Amazfit Stratos 3. In the photo, you can see heart rate sensor and power meter. Have you tried to add the heart rate sensor inside of the workout page? In the stratos series, you have to choose the workout (for example, running) and then go down on the settings option. Inside it, find the option of accesories. There you can start looking for Bluetooth devices. You have to do it every single time you want to use an external monitor, but it works great. Are you sure it doesn't do that? Cause its also a deal breaker for me. I would appreciate if you can try that. Thanks!
Great Review. Amazfit watch have a great appearance although the heart rate was very band compare to others similar devices. I also found the even though the screen is bigger the data is difficult to read on some watch faces. Something that is hard for me on Garmin is the lack of workout sports, maybe I am wrong but I cannot find a way to track something simple as basketball. But Amazfit Trex 2 has 150 + sports workouts and cost 1/3 cost of a Garmin Fénix 7.
Thanks for the thorough review. I should receive mine today. My daughter just got an Apple Watch and my wife has a Samsung Watch4. So I felt left out as my last smart watch is from years ago, the LG G Watch R so I needed an update! I think I made the right choice based on your review :) Cheers!
A possibility to connect to a HR sensor could be hidden not in the general settings, but just when you chose a training before starting it and then you can check if there are related settings where you could find it. On an Amazfit Stratos there's such menu item which is called Accessories.
i currently have a amazfit gtr, i've had it for a few years now and i mainly use it for notifications and the cool factor of having an amoled smartwatch. i am a big guy and i was looking out for a bigger/more bulky succesor of my current watch, preferably not sacrificing battery life. this t-rex 2 seems to be it, as soon as the black/gold variant becomes available for a decent price i will be ordering one.
@@ChaseTheSummit My T-Rex 2 arrived yesterday. (I used your Amazon link.) ;) I haven't put it through its paces yet, but if you're Amazfit and you're going to make a watch with a band that is difficult to change, you damn well better make sure it's high-quality - and this is not. I've only been wearing it for 12 hours, so that's not a truly accurate assessment , but the band feels a little cheap.
I wish this had solar panels. I'd so love to get this instead of a Garmin watch, but I think the lack of solar panel is a deal-breaker. If they released a solar model, then it'd be perfect and I'd buy it instantly.
The best video I've ever watched in TH-cam. Great way of explaining everything about the watch. 5 stars. I already subscribed and....I'm sold. I am buying the Trex2 thanks to you. Keep up the good work.

I've had the amazfit gtr (1) for over 2 years and it's still going strong though I don't think still being updated. my battery life is still about 12 days with daily use for either running or cycling, this beats other watches hands down. Will be looking to upgrade soon to get the latest features
Thanks for sharing!
It's an attractive package for the asking price. But a manufacturer's experience and dependability is worth paying for. Thanks for the review. I'd probably go for the Garmin Solar Instinct 2. Why Casio G-Shock are not in this game, I don't know.
Casio GBD-200, Step Counter, Notifications (but basic !!!), replacable battery. Around 140 Euro.
@Stefan that's not in the game, it's not even the same sport
Casio have got a few watches very similar to this.
I have the instinct 2 solar and epix gen 2... I wear the instinct more lmao. its amazing. simple, yet brutal, and has all the functions that I use on my epix, minus the maps but thats fine. anytime I go on a long hike or camping, I just slap the epix on
@@MarksTech it's on my shopping list. 👍🏻
Good to hear your older Amazfit is still chugging along!
Hey Chris, Did you still get software updates for your Amazfit watch ⌚️? and of not how many years did they support your watch for ? 🤔 Thanks 👊
@@nccapone344 I believe I still get updates when I sync with the app. In particular for the GPS.
@@chrisooi2546 Nice Thanks for the feedback 👍 Chris cheers 🍻
Ie had my TREX 2 for 3 weeks now and LOVE IT so far. Great watch with tons of watch faces.
I have been looking into this watch and happy to see you review it. I prefer nylon straps and they make adapters to go from its odd connection to a 22mm quick release. Great video!
I didn't know they made adapters! Interesting! The screws seem impossible to remove without a special tool.
From the ad description they send two little screwdrivers.
"You will either love or hate, but I'm in between" - does that make you an enigma :)
Yep
Once you use a newer SOC, multi band gps usually comes for free but I get it it’s a testament how recent the technology is for the Amazfit. I hope it will put some pressure on Garmin and Apple because let’s face it their watches are awesome but overpriced in my view
I have one being delivery today and im glad that you just dropped this video.. I was waiting for a trustful review...:)
Awesome! Let us know what you think!
Your videos are awesome. I have the stratos+ and the Trex 2 for me is a big step in the brand.
just got a new t rex 2. with the layest update it connects to my h9 chest strap for running. weight training mode is great. notifications work perfect. i love it
I had been a Garmin fans with 3 runner devices before. And now, Iam the big fans of Amazfit T Rex (Gen 1st) since 2019.
That's good to hear you've had a good track record with them!
Hi! Love your videos! Now you can connect other devices such as HR bands. Just get the software update. For me, as a trailrunner, is amazing. Cheers and happy new year
How about import routes and the result?
Apparently they're going to issue a firmware update by the end of July that will add navigation. We shall see!
I have the T Rex 1 and i have to tell it's incredible, 20 day battery life and it's soo durable, imma keep it for 2 more years
It is nearly always the external sensor support that lifts Garmin way ahead of competitors for sports watches. Thanks for a great review though.
HR broadcasting.
I don't usually watch the whole video , unboxing anything I mean , this video , I wanna watch till the end , you are doing great chase , keep it up
Outstanding review!!
Tell us how is it ?
How have you found it so far? Any issues? I’m thinking about buying one
@@CarlEReid-ep3zy wow! 19% battery used in 4 days. Very impressive. Thanks for the review, it was helpful
I use the ultra cheap Amazfit GTS 2 mini and works impressively well. The only exceptions are in open water swimming (I attach the watch on the buoy), in the swimming pool the watch have problems to count accurately when you do changes of pace and no heart data un any type of swimming practice.
I own the t rex pro and loved it the last 15 months. I just got the T-rex 2 and it's even better. Great watch for the cost
Nice!
Great price!
I had an Amazfit pace before and it was legit good for everyday running, sounds like this one would be a wait and see firmware update wise
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing! The GT Runner looks great. I've been trying to get my hands on one!
It looks like a good option for the casual exerciser who isnt anal about data, navigation and/or sensors
Good review Dave!
For sure, but for $229 bucks it's pretty crazy!
easy sell for me... i have a F6 sapphire and i hate the lack of touchscreen so damn much...
trying to justify 1 grand for the Epix for a few days now... but i can't ... guess i try the T-Rex
@@Quarknjaguar did you?
Funnily enough I have ended up buying this and it's an awesome watch.
The issues at launch (IE no external sensors or navigation) have been rectified.
It's now £199 in the UK which is outstanding,!!
The data is actually very good however I do miss body battery.
Again and again every thing you share is a solid option.. keeping everyone absolutely confused
I think that just means that there are a lot of options out there and very few of them are "bad" which makes my job really hard lol.
@@aravind787 very interesting 👍🏼 Is there somewhere I can read more about this? You've piqued my interest 🙂
@@chrismasters1164 The Apex 2 (or whatever its called) is meant to be coming out later this year hopefully
They added external devices support this latest update.
Man.....I'm here a year later looking at your review and wondering if I should return my Galaxy Watch 6, and get this t rex 2! I'm tired of the battery life with Galaxy watches and I love my g shocks! You're swaying me lol.
Great video, and new sub!
same here lol. I am looking at T Rex 2 for $140 and the old T Rex Pro for $80. Any of those two is better than my 1 day battery life Watch 5
@@lowkeyrandomguy right?? Lol
Just purchased one. Waiting for it to be delivered. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
Thankfully, the monopoly of sportwatches by Garmin is over! Finally we can have sportwatches at a fair price.
They'll need to polish this one up a bit more to compete with an Epix Gen 2 but for the money it's pretty impressive!
To pair with external bluetooth HR sensor like a chest strap start a sports profile, go to this activity settings page and add a sensor. This should work. The biggest weakness of all Amazfit devices are the HR sensor. Now they have a new one. We will see if the situation improves.
That setting isn't present on the T-Rex 2 like on other Amazfit watches.
Good vid! I wasn't interested in learning more about the TREX 2 until after watching the video! All the best.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing review. To the point, a lot of facts. Very useful for buyers on the fence.
Great review mate. Had the first gen T-Rex pro and had real problems with WhatsApp on it. Terrible customer support has put me off any future purchases of T-Rex. For me the instinct 2 is worth the extra money
Thanks for sharing!
Recent update added that GPS file thing you mentioned. It took the watch into a new level for me
Cool! I'll have to try it!
Thanks for comprehensive review! Could not find it 2 weeks ago and finally ordered them 😉 now I understand that it was right decision 👍
Hope you enjoy it!
Great review! Really! Thank you 💪. Very complete and "user" POV was amazing.
Glad you liked it!
I have the amaze fit T. rex and I’m happy with it. Lasts for days on a single charge. Battery does go faster when you use features like when you exercise. But otherwise reliable for those who want reliability
Hi Dave, thanks for the great review!
This is the best review of t-rex 2. Thanks!
Hi, great video with very practical comparison.
I'm using Fenix-5 was thinking to upgrade to 6 but now going for T-Rex 2 😎
Interesting, hope you like it!
Great review. Thank you for introducing me to the different gear options; it's very helpful!!! Used you a lot before buying my first watch (245M). Wish they put music storage in it. It's a must for me thus limited with my options. Other than that it looks amazfiting :-)
That would have been nice!
It's such an impressive watch for the price. Battery life is impressive.
Hi Dave!
The watch comes now with an upgrade ( end of 2022): heartrate monitor-finally, vo2max calculation. What do you think? Are you making an update video?
Thanks so far Richie
Thanks for the video - well done! Would love to have seen the AOD watch face options and how well they function.
Fantastic review, appreciate it, looking forward to when this watch reaches the UK
Certainly not the premium watch for the most accurate monitoring or application consumption, but for the built quality I got with that price, I would say yes :)
Of course all aspects are best in Amazfit Trex 2
I really like the presentation. Really one of the best review , unfortunately you did not show some of the durability of the watch considering it claims to be "rugged"
The Nap thing kills me haha, I have children too I feel you man
Awesome.. thanks for reviewing. This was on my short list to try out as well.
Awesome intro and conceptual set up. Love it.
Using Trex for 3 years now, I am not at all sure if HR is accurate. That puts the whole package in doubt. GPS is fine. EXCELLENT battery 🔋
Thanks for the review! I was waiting for anyone do it! (And I'm happy you're first or one of firsts:))
Hope it was helpful!
Yes it definitely was! About gpx, in earlier version you had to put in via cable to gpx folder. If this will be in update, the watch looks decent for the money.
Do you know maybe if soccer mode still gives in app heatmap ?
just received my garmin fenix 7x solar sapphire. holy crap! had to save for a while but well worth it.
It's a great watch!
Always like your video. Next i hope u can review Huawei 3 pro
And it's on sale now for $169.99 - crazy good price!!
Another great review!!! I reached out to Amazfit recently and confirmed that this watch cannot pair with an external heart rate sensor. Amazfit has another watch coming out relatively soon (Vienna) so I’m curious to see what that offers.
I'll keep an eye out for that one!
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the detailed review. If possible please also make a detailed review of the Amazfit GTR 4.
I'll see what I can do.
But Amazfit Trex 2 has 150 + sports workouts and cost 1/3 cost of a Garmin Fénix 7.
fenix 6x pro amazon 399€
Nice review!!! My Honor Gs Pro does the same and now in an excellent price worth every cent!!
Thanks for sharing!
Я купил их. Доволен на все 100% !
Loved your video. After watching this video I want to buy this watch .
A possibility to connect to a HR sensor could be hidden not in the general settings, but just when you chose a training before starting it and then you can check if there are related settings where you could find it. On an Amazfit Stratos there's such menu item which is called Accessories.
I checked there. Literally went through every menu item and did not see any way to pair a sensor in the watch or in the phone app.
@@ChaseTheSummitIt seems that has been added with a firmware update? could you confirm please, I'm really looking to buy this watch
i currently have a amazfit gtr, i've had it for a few years now and i mainly use it for notifications and the cool factor of having an amoled smartwatch. i am a big guy and i was looking out for a bigger/more bulky succesor of my current watch, preferably not sacrificing battery life. this t-rex 2 seems to be it, as soon as the black/gold variant becomes available for a decent price i will be ordering one.
Nice! Hope you enjoy it.
i work construction and i jog. this watch looks like one of the most durable ones for the price
My original t-rex measured my pulse as 80 during running, but it was at 120. Since then I am not using it anymore.
I had issues with the original as well. This one seems better.
Another great review. Thanks! Looking at the Amazfit website indicates that it uses 22mm bands. Hoping my Garmin Instinct bands will work with it.
Maybe, but getting the screws out is tricky. They're pretty unique looking.
@@ChaseTheSummit Yes, they are. I'm going to try to 3D print a screwdriver head that will fit.
That would have been pretty cool! But for the price at $229 it's not surprising.
Solar would only increase the use by a few days at the expense of screen real-estate.
Nice review, good job. More of these please.
More to come!
The best video I've ever watched in TH-cam.
Great way of explaining everything about the watch.
5 stars.
I already subscribed and....I'm sold.
I am buying the Trex2 thanks to you.
Keep up the good work.
