Thanks for a proper review. I was looking for such a review, someone who actually tested the watch outside. Not just unpacking. That's to know if it's worth switching from T-Rex to T-Rex Pro. And the answer is yes!
I've had a few amazfit watches, including this one, I've noticed they all have the same heart rate sensing issue. Sometimes I'll measure it manually, knowing that I'm at an elevated rate, and the watch won't even be close, but then other times it'll be almost completely accurate. Very strange and hopeful that maybe they can push out some sort of firmware update to fix that issue. Other than that, I love this watch. #1 reason to buy any of the amazfit devices is because of the battery life. It's not uncommon for me to get a week out of a charge. I stopped wearing a galaxy active because of the annoyance of needing to charge it basically every night, which then makes the sleep tracking useless. Great video!
Nicely done...as a previous owner of an Amazfit Stratos, the only problem I ever had with it was the heart rate and firmware updates. The updates always "broke" some feature of the watch and I always had to reset it to make it function again..
For those saying they have heart rate problems, tighten up the strap and turn it so the head is on the inside of your wrist not on the outside. Helps a lot

Great review! Honestly for the money ($145CAD) this watch is very hard to beat maybe impossible. The 30+ different watch faces you can choose from and the time the battery lasts compared to most it’s still an awesome deal a year and a bit later after release.

Excellent review! I am thinking of getting a sports watch and I wasn't sure which one to get. If you had to choose between Coros pace 2 and Garmin Instinct (not the solar version) which one would you choose? Thank you very much!
When your running with GPS on to map your run, do you need to have your phone on you and paired, or can the watch map the entire run on its own? Thanks for uploading 👍.
The T-Rex pro has GPS built in so it will record a track of your run with or without your phone. However, you will need your phone to sync and send it to Strava. Hope that helps!
If you're looking for a budget option it's now available for $125 . . . how is that for price versus performance? I can't afford a $200+ sports watch. What are your thoughts?
It would do the job but I think the Instinct would give you more features for that activity. The instinct also has navigation features and can follow a course.
Can you turn off Bluetooth during the day and it will save your data until the next time you synch and will update? For example, I don't like sleeping with Bluetooth on. Can I turn it off and update my sleep in the morning when I turn Bluetooth back on?
Would you recommend this, and it's ecosystem, over the Forerunner 245 and the Coros Pace 2? Someone asked me last week for a recommendation (moving up from a fitbit) and the 245 and Pace 2 were my current recommendations.
They're all good in different departments. The T-Rex makes a nice "daily driver" because of the beautiful display and widget selection. The Coros Pace 2 is probably the better multi sport tracking watch of the bunch because it provides running power from the wrist and can pair with power sensors for cycling along with superior battery life. The Forerunner 245 is probably the best dedicated running watch of the bunch with Garmin's Training Tools and more advanced navigation than the other two with Breadcrumb mapping. The Amazfit T-Rex might be the better built of the three? Hard to say. They all have pro's and con's it really comes down to the use case.
Altitude data is there in Strava but it's hard to say if Strava is using the raw data or calculating new data since I can't export an actual fit file from the Amazfit Zepp app.
Between those two I think the T-Rex Pro actually has more features but the GBD-H1000 has better battery life and is probably a little better built. Your call!
@@ChaseTheSummit I understand that but I am interested in sweeping seconds and not the ticking quartz movement of the seconds hand. Great channel by the way.
What is the range for the Heart Rates since my resting HR is in the low to mid 40's. Are you able to see what HR you have at any time using the app? The other thing I find funny about the T-Rex Pro is that it passed all of the "Military" spec's i.e. 100-meter depth, 159F to -40F, you can swim and surf with it, but it states you can not take a shower with it.
It's probably due to the heat and possibly the chemicals in soaps for showering. I personally showered with it without an issue. In terms of HR it's not super accurate.
Just bought the T-Rex Pro. I need: - to tell time - notifications - ruggedness - I spend a HUGE percentage of my time outside. Farming, hunting, fishing, hiking, running. - long battery life (at least a week) - affordable Fitness tracking is a nicety. I see no real purpose for all that fidgety crap. It's a novelty IMHO. A stop-watch and interval timer is enough. And thus, it's pretty great. The screen is my only gripe. For the outdoors, an ePaper display is ideal. But, the display is fine. Zepp ... I think the company is renaming itself. I think.
It tracks all day heart rate as well as resting and max HR values in the app. As mentioned in this video the optical HR sensor isn't terribly accurate. Hope that helps!
Thanks for an excellent review. Hitting the like button was a no brainer. I like the look of this one a lot actually and I’m wondering if I can get ring doorbell notifications on it. Would you know about this?
Thanks! If its a standard phone notification you should see it pop up on the watch as well. I have a similar arrangement with my Blink cameras and it works great. Thanks for watching.
I think they're having problems with the new 2.0 heart rate sensor cause I have the Amazfit GTS and the heart rate is exactly on par with my Vivoactive 3. Great review! 😁
Oh interesting! I'm interested to see what DesFit thinks of the T-Rex Pro and if he gets similar results. I tried everything to get good numbers but it just wouldn't work for me. Maybe I got a dud! Thanks for sharing and watching Josie!
@@ChaseTheSummit Desfit had the same problem with the GTS 2 and it has the same version heart rate sensor as the T-Rex pro... We'll see... Maybe an update will fix the problem!
Garmin HR works so well compared to Amazfit, and with Amazfit watches you cannot see your previous/missed notifications or other watch functions during an activity which is super dumb. Garmin do this perfectly.
@@chandrashekarg5907 Kind of depends. Neither one has amazing heart rate accuracy. If you're looking primarily for a sports watch I'd say look at the COROS PACE 2 instead for the same money. But if you're set on the T-Rex or GS Pro I'd say the T-REX might have a slight advantage because the app allows you to export and sync your activites to Strava.

Garmin instinct secondhand 190$ vs T-Rex pro new 180$, which one should i choose?
If it were my money I'd go for the Garmin but it's a matter of preference.
Hello, does this watch have an analog watchface with a sweeping seconds hand. Thanks.
There are lots of watchfaces available including analog with second hands
@@ChaseTheSummit I understand that but I am interested in sweeping seconds and not the ticking quartz movement of the seconds hand. Great channel by the way.
You should review the first version of the trex
Seems pretty similar other than missing some activities, apps, and the water resistance rating. I'll put it on the list though. Thanks for watching!
Good job. Only issue with those brand.. may end up like Tomtom discontinued no support...
That is a concern. It's not quite as useful if the app isn't supported.
Hi, does it support multi sport without having to break/stop the existing sport, like in a triathlon
Unfortunately it does not.
Amazfit gtr2 Vs Garmin Venu Sq music...which one to go for? Can afford both... Which is a more value for money proposition?
I'd probably go for the Venu SQ but that's just my opinion. Garmin's Ecosystem is much better and the Venu SQ has a decent heart rate sensor.
Just bought the T-Rex Pro. I need:
- to tell time
- notifications
- ruggedness - I spend a HUGE percentage of my time outside. Farming, hunting, fishing, hiking, running.
- long battery life (at least a week)
- affordable
Fitness tracking is a nicety.
I think.
Seems like this will suit your needs!
Which one is better if I buy now. Amazefit trex or trex pro??
I’d probably go for the pro since it’s not much more.
Does it have some sort of breadcrumb navigation ? 🙂 I already own Vertix but I am just curious 🙂
Unfortunately it does not. No navigation features aside from a basic compass and altimeter. Thanks for watching
I love the watch just wish they had military time option
Odd that it doesn't considering the target demographic.
Excellent Analysis.
Thanks!
For running you prefer amazfit Trex Pro or Coros Pace 2?
Pace 2 hands down.
Just wished to know does it show the resting heart rate right? And does it show right for mild workouts. Pls reply
It tracks all day heart rate as well as resting and max HR values in the app. As mentioned in this video the optical HR sensor isn't terribly accurate. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit hope you don't mind but can clarify that is the heart rate sensor good for mild workouts
Would you recommend this as a "asthetically" pleasing watch to replace my garmin instinct solar?
Depends what you consider to be good looking. I think it looks really similar to an instinct!
Pace 2 is really a better buy.. Good Reviews man. Keep up the good work.
Kinda depends what you're looking for. As far as being a "sports watch" I'd take the Pace 2 all day. Thanks for watching!
We'll done. Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Will you recommend This watch for cycling?
It can do it. But if you're an advanced cyclist you'd benefit from a watch that can pair with a power/speed sensor. The Amazfit T-Rex can not.
very thorough...excellent review
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the review
Thanks for watching!
If they had an LTE version I would buy it in a heart beat
Thanks for sharing.
Great Video man! Regarding the GPS setting what did you use, GPS+Gallelilo or GPS+GLONASS, or GPS+BDS??
I believe it was set to GPS+Glonass out of the box.
hello, i bougth one yesterday, did a one hour walk for test and the battery went down to 84%, i think it problably has a battery issue
That's strange. Was it the first time you charged it? Sometimes it needs a few charge cycles to be accurate. Hope that helps!
amazfit please make an all steel smart watch ... there is many people from the diver community loves to have a heavy smart watch
That's a niche use case. Thanks for sharing!
Vivoactive 3 HR sucks. Fenix 6 is far superior line
Garmin HR works so well compared to Amazfit, and with Amazfit watches you cannot see your previous/missed notifications or other watch functions during an activity which is super dumb. Garmin do this perfectly.
Thanks for sharing!
What do you have on test now? I believe you are testing Garmin 955 or will receive it for the test in the near future.
Stay tuned and you’ll see!
Great choice for review 👍🏼
Thanks!
Kindly compare honor gs pro with this
I'll see what I can do.
@@ChaseTheSummit Because I am planning to buy bit confused so, which one do you prefer the most?
@@chandrashekarg5907 Kind of depends. Neither one has amazing heart rate accuracy. If you're looking primarily for a sports watch I'd say look at the COROS PACE 2 instead for the same money. But if you're set on the T-Rex or GS Pro I'd say the T-REX might have a slight advantage because the app allows you to export and sync your activites to Strava.
Thank you so much😀
is its accuracy simmiler to huwewei gt pro or better ?
Hard to say. I haven't tested them side by side.
Trex pro or garmin forerunner 55 which one is best
As a sportswatch I prefer the Forerunner 55.
