Like you I had never considered Belgium as a destination but last year my friend and I both took our K1 BMWs for a few days playing in the Ardennes along many of the same roads you enjoyed on this trip. We couldn’t believe what brilliant biking roads there were with beautiful scenery along the river valleys, lovely little village coffee stops and nice hotels for overnight stops. Instead of riding through on route to somewhere else, I’d thoroughly recommend taking time to enjoy the roads on offer and only a few hours from the channel tunnel 👍

I love the sound of that Gold Wing, sound's so powerful and smooth. One of the few bikes that sounds bike quiet than loud.

Amazing scenery. It's quite cold here now (New Zealand), and I am envious. The Goldwing seems like a total machine doing the tour.

I liked they way you tooted the other bike to remind him to ride on the right hand side of the road.It sometimes can be a pain in the butt if fellow bikers remind you that you have left your indicators on...when you have only just turned the corner. Interesting Vid this one
Really enjoying the tour, it is great you are now able to go back into Europe. Considering it is winter in Australia, I would love to be able to ride in 25 degrees as well!!

We (in Europe) , thankfully, had a lot more protest against masks and vaccine mandates than the Aussies managed !

Enjoying the tour video. Traffic lights with flashing orange means “proceed with care”, typically at road works or faulty lights.

I’ve just got home from a two week tour of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado - 2,000 miles in canyon country on a big Harley Davidson, it was absolutely brilliant! We saw 46 degrees centigrade on the temperature readout.
Wow - that is a hot one….
We are blessed to have Europe on our doorstep - no need to travel vast distances.

Thanks for taking time to record and edit to give a flavour of your experience. My experience of Luxembourg was spoilt by dodgy police claiming we were speeding and hoping for cash on the spot when their card machine would not work. In the end they found a second machine, cunningly similar to the first one that worked. We hit every village at the right speed to get a green smiley face but you cannot argue. Luxembourg City was nice from the top of the rotating tower….looking forward to the next episode of your holiday.

Another very pleasant day motorcycling with trees galore and rivers. Like the growl of the Goldwing when accelerating fast. Sound of the flat six. Reminds me of my Sabaru legacy flat four sound with quick acceleration.

I would just like to say that I’m really enjoying this series even if I am watching while suffering with full on covid! I would really like to see a map of your full route as I am planning a trip to northern Europe for later this year. I have visited Luxembourg many times in my 40+ years of motorcycle touring but I thought your route appears quiet laid back for someone rapidly approaching 70 years old, (I’m only 66 now but 70 will be here to soon). Keep up the great work, Alan.

The other end of bouillon is stunning just by the tunnel ...and do you notice once you cross into Belgium from France the road surface gets worse ..we have booked to stay in bouillon next year on our way down to Austria. Great watching this its bring all the memories flooding back

We have some of those massive wind turbines over here in the Netherlands too. If you ride around the polders, you will likely see some massive wind turbines. If you are lucky you will also see some of the beautiful old windmills that are still scattered all over the country as well.
Absolutely fabulous scenery. That ‘wing is sublime, it’s engine sound is music and gear changes sound silky smooth. And to top it off @6:49 it’s horn puts my K1600’s to shame (seriously, my Beemer’s horn is pathetic). Wish I was there, looks like a dream tour. All of you enjoy and ride safe.
Yes the Wing is a cracker for this sort of caper - and the horn is like a freight trains!

Thanks very much for sharing this trip. I haven’t been abroad in a long while on the bike, I should go again. I’ve got a 2007 Electra Glide to do it on, not the shimmering elegant sophisticate that is a new Gold Wing, but still a comfy tourer.
Another nice vid as ever TMF. Looks like a lovely tour. The traffic light countdown rant did make me chuckle. I like a traffic light countdown myself but I appreciate that knowing you're going to be there for ages is sometimes worse than not knowing. Also loved the geezer who had 3 days to cross & then predictably does it as it hits zero lol. Can be frustrating but it all depends on your perspective I guess. You can if you choose to see traffic lights as an opportunity to do a bit of mindfulness & take stock of your surroundings, any potential hazards, check the dash for warning lights etc....or just have a rant which was very entertaining.

Seems this roadtour is my favourite one. I like to bike in a place not too dense with cars and building. Greenery and sometimes small town seems very nice and calming also. Wish one day I can stop cctv the goldwing and go roadtour to many countries.
Loving every minute of this, totally envious, I'm either at work or contractors at home (winter time). Love the sound of the big six, and the gearbox whine - sounds like a real machine!!

As a boy when my dad was in the army, we once stopped in Luxembourg and had a meal.......in an airplane that was on the side of the road as being used as a restaurant.....it's now in a museum I believe.

I did a very similar tour in late May myself and a few mates and we stopped in Bouillion... Luxembourg is a bike mecca as far as I am concerned.... at certain zoom levels the whole country is covered roads that are outlined pink which is Calimoto language for great biking roads!

Seems you are very fortunate with the weather, it seems every time I want to venture any distance the heavens open up 😖
A lot of Northern Europe tends to have nice roads and lots of rivers, I loved riding in Munich going out to the alps alongside rivers with mountain ranges in the background.
The last time I went through Luxembourg it was a mammoth journey from Munich, 5 countries in one day (I think that was when I was making my way back for last years ABR festival) so it was predominantly motorway riding.
This year I left at 7am from Odense in Denmark and rode through Germany and Holland, then a ferry to Harwich arriving around 5:30 am
Just checked the weather for Alcester from Thursday, Rain, Rain, sunny with clouds and Rain, 😂 business as usual then

Very much makes me miss riding on the continent, enjoying the films. You may be interested to know that if you look at the river next to The Bishops Mill pub in Salisbury at the moment (mid June) you will find flowering river grass which is rather pretty............and a pint of IPA!
Maybe it’s the Novichock in the water?
I did 4 countries in one day last weekend. Added a 5th Sunday and did it all again Monday on the way home.

Just back from Ireland where they have same traffic lights and fell for it the same as you thinking it was minutes and second !! Longest wait recorded 450 seconds

Wallonia is fantastic riding. I have stayed in Bouillon myself a nice town. Bastogne is nice too and there is a lot of Battle of the Bulge stuff to see. Dinant is also worth a visit, birth place of the saxophone

Yes, I agree. Been to England a couple of times (I live in Denmark!) and there are cars all over the place! Scotland is better but Wales is great!

Just caught your video after a 9 day tour of the States. Traveling through wind country of Indiana I observed at least 3 hundred wind turbines. Also past a "blade" in transet by truck. Enormous.!! Catching up on all my videos before the credit card bills arrive. Lol. Also was 97°F and toasty. 👍👍🥵🥵🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️

Straight mayo on fries? I’m in Idaho, Mormon country ( I hear Idaho has more per capital Mormons than Utah) and one of their gifts to the world is “ fry sauce”. That’s a more or less 50/50 blend of ketchup and mayonnaise. The bolder among us add significant amounts of Mexican hot sauce. Check it out. You may start a revolution.

I also thought about the nice view from the white building across the River from you in Bouillon has. It is a secondary school.
Hi Andy, I think it would have been nice to have a second camera that you moved about on the bike through the trip. Some shots looking back at you guys on the bike, or even a camera on Mrs flyers helmet, you could put her view in a top corner perhaps. That would actually be pretty cool, to see where she is looking in real time to your view. In fact, from my wife's point of view, I think she would like to see that...
Yes there’s lots I could do to up the production quality for sure - each new camera doubles the edit work however and I have to factor that in…

Nigel . You can be in Luxembourg in a few hours from Calais. Some brilliant places to stay with garages . Security not really needed. German , France and Belgium within a few miles. Get on a train and do it.
Been going for a few years just stay out of big cities and you will have no problem with security. Obviously I take my discounted tmf litelock with me 😉
Mic splitter cable and a 2nd mic near your ear speaker (tucked between the padding so you can't hear it)

You must be cooking in the suit, I know everyone feels temperature differently but couldn't wear my MK1 nivala suit passed around 22-23 degrees
Yes a little more ventilation wouldn’t go amiss but with just a base layer on underneath it’s not too bad….

6:47 HAHAHA I did same mistake on the roundabout in some town in Germany driving a car. It's much easier to make "misssiade" riding a motorcycle, cuz no matter what country it's from it's the same.
Don't forget to tank in Luxembourg as it is still cheap there per litre

Here in VA while waiting to turn Left, if the light does not turn to Green after two cycles, Motorcycles are free to pass at the Red Light. Sunday Mornings are the worst because Motorcycles do not trigger the sensors. I sometimes wait almost 4 minutes to make a turn. Total BS! During none busy times, there should be flashing Red and Yellow lights. But, since no one knows how to drive in my area, I guess that is not a good idea :)

As an MT10 owner, I love the sound it makes, but I have to say, that flat 6 with autobox sounds absolutely gorgeous. Now, can they strip about 100kg from it??? One other point Andy, try to make sure you brim your fuel tank just before you leave Luxembourg, as they always used to have the cheapest fuel in Western Europe.
So I’m told! Didn’t notice it was much cheaper to be honest….
Get a grip TMF, moaning about the traffic lights, doesnt the goldwing have aircon to keep you cool?? 🤣🤣🤣

Nice video series. If hypothetically, you couldn't take your GW on this tour, nor your GS, which of your other bikes would you take? Travel light and perhaps take your Speed Twin or very light and take your Panigale? Those twisties would be great on either.
I think it would be the Speed Twin as the next choice - as much as the Pani would be amazing through those bends…
