While I absolutely agree that you should be able to take as many watches away with you on a holiday as you like, I don't really understand the need. Just take the one that is a great all-rounder (diver?) or your current favourite and keep it on your wrist. I was a travel writer visiting and reporting on hotels and resorts all over the world for 20 years and my Rolex 16610 came with me. It is still safely and proudly part of my collection. Looks like you and the family had a great holiday !

The thing that really gets me wound up is going thru security at the airport when you have to take off your watch and stuff and put it in the trays for scanning while you go through the body scanning gateway. If you set off the warning alarm and they start wanting more checks, it’s so easy to lose sight of your valuables as the tray goes down the conveyor belt . My wife and I go through slightly apart so one of us is there to grab the tray before anybody else has an opportunist chance to lift anything

The advantage of wearing a nice watch on holiday is only wear them in a country where fakes are readily available. If anyone says anything to you let them think it's a copy & reduce your own personal risk !
P.s. Your Barnet is coming along nicely Andrew

I did think that bring the DJ out after 5 days in Turkey would mean people think it's a fake 😆 - I'm 3 months in and it's a ton better than it was,,, fingers crossed it keeps growing!

Andrew, important thing for you to know if you travel to and outside EU is: Never have more that 2watches 1 on you and 1 in travel case. Ifyou have more that thet you may get stuck at the customs and try to prove that YOU DIDN'T buy them in this case in Turkey..

Mate, don't let stuff like this stress you out. I am in Spain now (Ibiza) wearing a Rolex, like a few chaps in this hotel and out and about. My insurance would prevent me taking x4 watches with me. My 'holiday watch' tends to be my Rolex, for a variety of reason, but mainly because I don't wear it much in London and because its got mega WR.The faff of taking x4 watches on holiday, dealing with hotel safes, or some sketchy room safe is just drama I avoid.

I'd wear my best watch on vacation. Diver watch. Never take it off. I don't think I would take 4 though. My biggest fear would be accidentally leaving them behind or loosing my luggage on the airplane or customs trying to say you bought them on vacation - not getting robbed.

I took my Rolex to Mallorca along with my Garmin for cycling. Wore my garmin on the bike, no watch during the day or around the pool, and my Rolex that spent the day in my room safe at night. Next time take one watch and leave the rest in a hiding place in your home. My Rolex was insured and if a toe-rag tried to steel it, I’d most likely, his size dependant, either hand it over or crush him! My families safety though is paramount! You can’t wear your watches if you’re dead!

Great video, something we all think about but find hard to address. I tend to take a beater and a ‘nice’ watch and look for a good hidy hole. I do struggle though wearing watches in the heat and a couple of days in, wonder why I ever got involved with watch addiction in the first place!

I used to take a cheap watch for wearing around the pool usually a G shock and my Seiko SARB for evenings. Nothing more expensive having said that the SARB has more than doubled in price since I got it. On Monday I too go to Turkey and I will be taking my Casio Duro on it’s Ali Express mesh and no others. Fine for swimming and the beach but on the mesh kinda holds its own in the evenings too. No worries!
So glad everything was okay apart from that first night (which did make me LOL by the way), and they all came back home safe and sound. Hope you all had a great holiday mate, it certainly looked like you did. 😃

You plan for your vacation and if you have pets you plan to have someone keep an eye on them. I plan for my watches as well. I have a fireproof box that I converted into a watch box that I hide somewhere in my house when I'm away on vacation. I want to enjoy my family time not spending it fretting about something that's not even there with me.

  • @andrewgibson5207

Bigger issue for me would be if my holiday insurance would cover even one of them in total if I was robbed. I would worry less about wearing them on holiday if I knew they were all covered up to the full value.

In all seriousness I took my watches away this summer and although not as expensive as yours one of them would of been impossible to replace, so there was a little bit of paranoia but as you say you have to enjoy them, otherwise what’s the point!!!👍

Honestly mate went down to the wire on whether or not to take my Dj to Dominican. Left it at home for the reasons only that I wouldn't leave it in the safe so have to wear it and I'm gonna be playing in the sand with my children. Brought a urban safari seiko a few months before with the idea of that being my holiday watch which it was and never let me down, even scuba diving so got well tested! See some amazing watches on wrists though,a lovely solid gold sub/black dial and even a patek aquanaught in the airport on the way home! Everyday I thought wish I had my rolex though, datejust rhodium dial, fluted bezel with diamond markers and it's a stunner 👍👍

Andrew, love your videos mate, keep them coming! I’m currently new into the collection status, I was going to start with something like a Hamilton field, however I have a really soft spot for Bremont so decided on the stainless broadsword model. It is my daily wear, even at work, so has picked up some little nicks already in it after 4 months of everyday use. I’d really fancy another so at the moment torn between the Seamaster or another Bremont such as the U-2/51 jet. Do you have any advice on how to start building my collection up? I’m not looking to have dozens of watches, but I’d be happy with 2/3. My only assumption would be financing them both like my current one.?
Thanks again for the superb videos,

sound advice from your mate tbh - - when holidaying in the UK this year i took my best watches with me - prior to that holiday i had to go abroad to switzerland twice on business - i just wore one decent watch but under the radar (omega connie 41 blue) and kept in uder the cuff when out. I also went on a dive expedition to Croatia and just wore and took my CWC SBS to dive with....wouldnt risk taking any others abroad

If you love the look of a watch buy a fake and enjoy it risk and paranoia free or just buy a G-shock.
You'll be really annoyed if you knock the pearl off of your submariner or scratch the two tone stainless steel bracelet.
Leave the real thing in a safe.

To be honest, watch robbers don't care about any other watch brand other than Rolex. Guarantee you none of them have ever even heard of ball (so pointless to ever worry), and they likely have heard about omega but it's too "low tier" for them. They want those $20k and $25k submariners and gmts. Oh and those $40k Daytonas!
