You are really getting organized Derb! It makes life so much easier when you have quality tools and rig to carry them in. Also, this is one of your best videos to date. I appreciate the quick, no nonsense descriptions. Some of your older ones you go out on a tangent and this one is Perfect. Congratulations! You have come a long way. Keep it up Brother!

Nice profitable set up! Way too many welders build up super expensive rigs with 3500 diesels and 500 amp welders that they don’t even need. It seems like a lot of them forget that the whole point of running your own rig is to make money…..not spend it.

@@echoandy51your 150 tub rig wouldn’t last a day on an actual work site. Yea they have a purpose and have great use. Not all diesel rigs are for show though.

Very nice job on the skid...Great video. I'm a recently retired Pipeline welder 35yrs, my last rig had the Aluma Reel skid, the large one to hold 2 Oxy and 2 acet since most of the cutting in the field was done from sources on our rigs. I had a Miller pipe pro as my main machine and my trusty Lincoln 300D as my backup at the house. within the past few months I have been able to sell just about everything I had only to realize last week that I wanted to be able to do little projects of my own at home and had no more machines to do so. I just actually bought the new Trailblazer 330 EFI with awesome remote at a local weld supply near me to fulfill my empty feeling of not being able to do projects for myself, I can't really say I miss the work but do still love watching videos with young enthusiastic tradesman doing well in a not so easy business!

I like your skid and layout. You are doing good for yourself. I’m a SA200, 250,300 etc man all the way to the core. The SA can have a CV box added to it under the door to run a wire feed suitcase as smooth or smoother than any welder out there. When we’re talking power yes the 200 only has 3kw of pure DC generated power but can run almost any electrical powered tool as long as it’s ac/dc and no adjustable speed. People have put large inverters under the hoods if A/C is needed. Most people run battery powered tools anyway to keep the tripping hazzard down. The 200’s and larger are all pure DC generated power that provides an arc that’s not matched by any welder made today. It is heavier and needs to be on a ton truck. On longevity there no comparison either you have a 4 cylinder Diesel or Has water cooled motor that runs at 1550 or 1800 rpm. SA’s hold 5quarts of oil. The only electronics is the low idle but you can pin it to weld all day long. The generator is easily worked on and can be repaired in no time. Any piece you need for an SA can be had in a day, 2 tops. You can rebuild the entire machine to new at anytime you wish. You can’t do any of that with a welder that runs at 3600 rpm and holds 2 quarts of oil . There are several boards in those and when something happens to one you better have a man that can repair that asap or buy new ones at a steep price. Warranty work takes at least a month if your lucky most of the time it 2. If it’s a motor issue they send it to an authorized Kholer repair shop and your wait is even longer. On longevity a SA can run past 10000 hours without breaking a sweat as opposed to the Miller needing a new motor at 2000 to 2500 hours max. Gas consumption will be slightly in favor of the Millet. With diesel there is no comparison. I like your welding style and your videos you have truly done good for yourself and continue to do good. I’m not arguing about the machines but just want to put the info out there for people to know. Please don’t take this as negative anything I support you and look to run into you at FabTech in Orlando. Keep putting the videos out bud , your content is great.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the crap out of my Sa200, but for the work I do it’s just too difficult to keep around. The trailblazer yes is more fragile than the sa200 but it makes up for it in user experience.

Awesome video i like that build! Almost looks like if you had to you could throw it on a small trailer. Redundancy is everything, like you have said in other videos.. good pick for a truck too. Crazy to think the new half tons are almost in the old 3/4 ton capacity range. Keep them coming looking forward to the next one!

My 2020 ram 2500 is rated the same as ODOT’s 2011 Chevy 3500. My Tacomas gained 1,000 curb weight between 1998 and 2017. They just keep making em bigger to the point where now they’re finding most people just want the smaller trucks. Besides us commercial guys I guess.

Thanks for putting the dimensions out, I had the recent argument with myself. I have enough money to either do a welding bed or I can invest in a second truck. I am giving serious thought to a skid. I live in San Francisco the crackheads here will try to steal anything . I recently watched Noah’s video on using rental trucks in a pinch . I had to do it twice but the inconvenience of loading its hard work I can’t have a trailer 1 it will get stolen 2 find someone living in or under it (not even joking).

This dude went from going around tig welding things out of some old beat up suv/mini van (I forget exactly it’s been a few years) to running around with a newerish trailblazer and f150. Still no flashy f550 or big blue pipe pro just to show off. Just has the stuff he actually needs to do the jobs he gets. Heck yeah. I am kinda sad to see another Sa200 owner getting rid of one though. They are so not practical but damn do I like them. I always play around with the idea of trading mine for a 305D or something but then I weld with it for a bit and throw that idea in the trash.

I’ve welded with a lot of different machines in my 25+ years of welding and I’ve never welded with any Lincoln be it an SA, a Classic, or a Ranger that had anywhere close to as smooth of an arc from start to finish as any trailblazer I’ve used or owned and I’ve personally owned 3. I can’t understand the comment that it doesn’t weld as good as the SA unless yours is one that has been tweaked and tuned on to make it better in which I’ve never used one that has been tuned that I was aware of.

The Ford is perfect for this. And I'm only using a third of the cargo capacity but I had to install airbags so it doesn't squat like a little girl. But Ford really did a great job with this truck. And going from saying that to saying dat and there to dare makes me want to throw my phone at the wall. Then In the video about the truck you brag about making a lot of money and needing a tax write off so you choose a short bed extended cab and pile shit to the ceiling in the back seat. Get a 250-350 with a utility body.
