Thank you so much for this video. After 3 months of my husband trying to figure out what was wrong with the window. I removed the device and unplugged the cords and reinserted them. And BAM. Fixed it.... All in 5 minutes....

Thanks Axle!! My problem started two weeks ago on a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado with all the electrical do dads. I'm 81 and have a lot of odd experiences with vehicles the last 60 years. I was about to take it to a dealer but decided to google the problem. Hallelujah!!!! I found you. There is a "You Pull it" yard about ten miles from me. My son had found a brand new jack for a 22 year Toyota about two weeks ago. So we went looking for Chevy trucks, Suburbans, Tahoes etc: it seemed all the doors had been cannibalized and we were having trouble finding one. Finally my son saw one laying in the floor of a well cannibalized Tahoe. They charged me five dollars for it. It works perfectly! Thanks to your video's problem solved and very inexpensively. I had decided to order from Amazon if this didn't work. You're the man!!

Thanks for the video - I had all the same symptoms - I tried the quick and dirty fix you mentioned - I unhooked the battery - waited 2 minutes - now the window works, the keyfob works and the mirror works. Hopefully I don't have the same problem again. I really appreciate folks like yourself that create these videos - TH-cam is my first place to go and find answers for my car repairs.

My 2003 Yukon had all the power in the door go away. I replaced the regulator with motor because it was dying anyway and checked the switch module which was still good. As long as I had the vehicle the driver's door acted weird. If I opened it all the way it wouldn't have power but if I closed it or even just ajar it would work. Finally it stoped working all together.
I checked the wiring harness between the door and the jam and sure enough, the black wire was broken in two. I butt spliced them back together and it works perfectly...God is Good!

Thanks for the video. I have a 2005 Suburban. Turns out my passenger door module has a broken retainer on the second plug that allowed it to become disconnected. Plugged it back in and taped it up with some electrical tape. Everything works on that door now.

Thanks for your vid's on this. I have an early 04 GMC Sierra reg cab 132K mi. I also had a door slam, but on the drivers door by my wife.... I cringed when I heard it, but let it go out of experience. I did roll up the passenger window after the slam but then the door died. I try cleaning the old module... I took it apart PITA and used contact cleaner... this did nothing.... so I bought a new module on Ebay... this worked.
There is a 7mm screw holding the front of the module trim, so the stem it screwed into broke when removing it, which I epoxied ( Smith bros. epoxy ) back on. The module is designed to come off with the door panel off.
I used some silicone on the screw stem when replacing it and worked the front of the module & trim piece in first in a Front Down Rolling motion.... ( removal is the reverse, back edge up and out first ) ... It's a tight fit, but fit nice when back in. So it's either take of the door panel off or do it this way. A few gremlins but very good trucks.

...$35.00 replaced passenger door switch module and everything is working again....mirror, window and locks.....awesome...had checked fuses, wiring harness, disconnected battery ...none of that solved the problem....

6 yr old video. Wow that's exactly the problem I have with my 2003 Tahoe . Everything you said no key fob either. Just for shits and giggles I went out and tried my passenger power mirror and nothing the drivers side works ! So glad you made this video!❤

Same problem on my '04, carefully took the module apart using several screwdrivers to wedge tabs apart and clean both sides of circuit board and the black tabs on the green silicone pad with rubbing alcohol and a q tip, reassemble and hopefully you'll save yourself 200.00+

Nice video. Hopefully it will help my 2003 Avalanche too. Door locks started going crazy last week locking & unlocking while driving. Got home disconnected the battery for about 10 min. to clear codes. The truck hasnt started since.. Smh.

I think you just saved alot of ass chewing from my wife! We just got a 2004 Suburban 1500 Lt 4wd and it has a few quirks. The power went out completely on the pass door. I checked all of the fuses. Now I'll just by a DCM. Thank you 😊

Great Vid. quick ? though . I have a 03 LT Astro and the drivers side and passenger side door locks will not work on either side using the door lock button . BUT I can control the windows from both sides . Any suggestions ? Thanks Joe
Trace out and check your wiring. Make sure the power and grounds are good in that circuit.

remember to reprogram the keyless remote as thats part of the programming of the PDM, also if your truck has TPMS, that also needs to be relearned

Quick tip, with truck shut up open drivers door, sit down, stick key in, do not turn yet, hold the unlock down, shut door while still holding down and cycle key on to acc and off then on to acc , two times to the acc. horn should beep and this will reset the BCM and if need be you can also reprogram your key fobs at this time. My truck used to just die out sometimes and this would get it to start back up almost right away. Turned out bad Ground at fuel rail to block and bad fuel pump. runs like it should now. Have the same problem as it was working then it was not working then this past Sunday it started to work again. I think I have a loose wireless or 2 going to the module and will check it out. I may also have some green corrosion on one of the plugs or module itself. Great video by the way.

I actually heard my truck honk at me when this happened to my passenger side door control module--also, 2 years ago, my fob stopped working, but everything else worked until now, and I remember back then, my horn honked at me when it happened--the truck will let you know when something happens, but just with one honk, and its done...lol crazy
As another commentator pointed out, the honk is the BCM entering it's reset mode. Try going through the key fob programing procedure and see if it changes anything. I have a video for that. Thanks for watching.

Hey man I hope you see this I have a 2007 gmc sierra 2500hd classic (old body style) and after washing the truck my windows rolled down but the passenger windows wouldn’t roll up. The speakers and locks still work and I hooked a battery to the windows motor and that rolled em up so I know the motors are working, but neither the individual door switches or the main driver door switch will roll the passenger windows up or down. The rear passenger will click the same as when the windows is all the way up or down but won’t move and the front passenger does nothing at all. Think I should just try the switches like you did?
Did your passenger speaker stop working as well? I have the same problem and my speakers on that side don't work wondering if the module has something to do with it
My speaker was working, but if you take the panel off you can see if the wires to the speaker run through the module or not. Just follow the wires from the speaker back. If they go through the module, test the speaker before replacing the module. Its easier to test the speaker.
Had this happen on a 2007 Silverado Classic. Driver door was completely dead (even courtesy light) after installing a speaker. I simply re-seated the long connector (with the pull over lever) and pulled out the power connector for a minute or so. My suspicion was it had nothing to do with this, but possibly from the position I moved the door lock harness to remove the door. To get the panel off, you have to pull the door switch back to the left - which I think possibly puts the DDM module into some kind of state. So I made sure door switch was pulled forward before I plugged the connectors back to the DDM.

Sorry to ask... if the problem started after you slammed the door, it is possible that some connection came loose. So, I assume you tried the simplest, which is to disconnect all the cables and them reconnect them. Before you tried hooking up the module from the other vehicle? (I just noticed that other people just disconnected and reconnected. I am going to try that first.)
OMG, leave it to Chevrolet / GM to make something as a simple door switch so complicated! Thanks for the great overview. I'm having a similar issue whereby I was replacing my entire window regulator assembly and had to unplug the door controller during the installation process. Now the switch/controller doesn't work at all, and everything is plugged back in as designed. I bet I need to go reset the thing by disconnecting car battery for a while. I'm going to go give that a try, thanks to your video here....

Ah , youtube, I have been reading my helms shop service manual, it has long testing procedures.
Test for ground, check for DTC, relays, on and on. Like my Buick changed driver side master control all works fine.

I would love for you to look at my vehicle...2001 Yukon Xl....only 2 windows work and those are on the driver side. My passanger side windows does not work from the passenger or driver side....I hear no motor running and now my driver side window acts crazy...I noticed it after a day of rain and my window was slightly cracked. It will roll down by itself when the truck is turned on and will take its time rolling back up...I usually have to play around with the switch (pushing up and down back and forth) until it finally decides to roll back up....its frustrating😣
I have had the switches go bad from continually getting wet over the years. I would start my troubleshooting there.
I had a similar situation but different side mirror work,no windows or locks , keys and fob not working, start up but turn off instantly my because the security system cause fobs not working mine happened when I closed the driver door. Bought a new window control module didn't solve it I spent 300 on it at oriels turned out loose wire in the connection harness long skinny one with the swing lock on it. I cut the top open hard to explain but so I can push the pins down with a metal pick then glued it in place with luiqid electrical tape. Inside the pins of the harness they move up and don't make a contact

I just had this problem. Mine was intermittent and then completely out. I pulled the module and checked the plug-ins and then - as I had thought might be the problem - I pulled the wiring boot/sleeve off the harness between body and door and found an orange wire broke - I patched in with some wire and all is fixed again.
Check your wire harness before spending $140 on a part.
This repair cost nothing.

I would suspect a bad door switch, but check power and grounds. Do the rear windows work from the rear switch? Do the locks work on any door button?
I did everything you said to do but it's on my master door so if my driver door window that doesn't want to work one day it was working the next day it just froze up I was thinking it was a regulator I bought a brand new one put it on still doesn't want to go up and down but because that window don't work it doesn't let my passenger window work but my back windows work so what do I do now if there's a way that you can help me out I appreciate it I'm looking at fuses I'm not sure one place said look under the steering wheel column there's fuses down there I don't even know what I'm looking for I don't do wiring I could do everything else but wiring
This is a tough one. If it were me, I would gamble with a new switch module at a junkyard for both sides.

You have to start with power and grounds, then relays, then BCM's.

Thank you so much for your very informative video I wondered if you might be able to possibly direct me where to begin looking at my 2007 Chevy Silverado Z71 crew cab. My symptoms are slightly different where the driver side door panel Works to move all of the windows all four windows. But the the back driver side door lock works intermittently power lock both with the key fob and with the driver door panel. Neither passenger side door front or back unlocks with the driver side door panel or the key fob. But when I push the unlock and lock button on the passenger front side door panel it will unlock the driver door and Intermittent Leave the Past in the rear driver door but I can't figure out where to begin looking to get the passenger side doors to lock and unlock I'm just not sure where to start I'm pretty Savvy when it comes to figuring things out but I have yet to be able to find a video or a Google link with the same symptoms. Do all of the windows work both from passenger side door driver side front and back they they work their own Windows the front driver and passenger side work all four windows. The driver side front door work unlocks and locks with a key fob and with the driver door panel as well as the passenger door panel. The rear driver side door unlocks and locks intermittently both with the key fob and the driver and passenger door panels. But neither passenger side door front or back works with either door panel or the key fob. But again that front passenger side door operates all the windows its own window and it unlocks the front driver side door and intermittently the back driver side door. I apologize for the long explanation I would really appreciate and be very grateful if you might have any idea on a you know what direction to begin with I would that would really appreciate it thank you
South Main Auto Channel has done several videos on the 2007+ GM Trucks. If I remember right, everything goes through the drivers front switch module.

Could be a computer or BCM problem. Try disconnecting the battery overnight, the re attach and try again.
i have the same case but fog light stopped and even HI light even both signal not working trunk won't open DMM not working

That's gonna take some investigating. Some of these can be tricky.
I have removed box fuse and clean them up all is Okay removed also BCM which the one come under the Dashboard & it's not showing any faulty it drives me crazy even headlight keep on all time
You mentioned that the module remembered its last setting with lights on, window up. Do you suppose that unplugging battery for a bit at that point would reset the module?
Maybe, I guess it would be worth a try.
Here is an odd ball situation. Drivers door DDM will work intermittently, it will operate the drivers door window sometimes the passenger rear door window and the drivers rear door window all the time and the passenger door not at all. Also the power locks work in one direction - lock, and cycle randomly while driving or parked. The passenger door mirror doesn't adjust and the directional in the mirror works sometime. There is like seven things going on and aren't contributed to a slam or anything just the way it is. The one thing for certain is there is power in the passenger door but everything else is a mystery. oh btw I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
I have no power with just the lock function on the passenger, I wonder if getting a new one will fix it. I've replaced every fuse, relay and both actuators, still no power with the lock function
If the only thing not working is the lock button on the passenger door, and the passenger door lock works from the drivers side, it's most likely the passenger side switch. They can go bad, my drivers is starting to go on mine.
My 2004 Chevy duramax just started to show driver door ajar and all dome lights come on. Also at the same time from my driver side window switch my windows will go up or down then stop then nothing then it will work again wtf is otg. I did get the window switch wet but why the door ajar message with all lights coming on?
The door ajar and dome light issues are part of the latch mechanism. Easy fix, I have a video on it in the 'Pearl' playlist
I have been chasing this problem for 3 years, dumb me cut the wires to the door after an accident to remove the door. Replaced the harness on new door and boom no power to the door exactly the way you explained, nothing had power. Got two window switches from the junkyard and still nothing. Replaced all fuses, relays and checked all grounds, still nothing. Just replaced the BCM with one programmed for my truck, you guessed it still nothing. Replaced the driver window switch with one from the junkyard that I tested and worked and still nothing. Do I need to try a brand new switch? Or any suggestions?
I'm baffled on this one. Someone down in the comments said to try an overnight battery disconnect to reboot the BCM. Let us know how you make out. Thanks for Watching.
Axle's Garage Ended up fixing it, already tried the overnight battery disconnect. After replacing the BCM, it blew a fuse I had replaced in the past. I’m guessing with a working BCM it sent power through and blew a fuse? I have no idea but I’m happy it’s finally fixed.

ok what happened to my 02 Chevy K1500 my passenger door was sprung in the wind but didn't stop until my son the door he put down the window went put it up and not go
If it's only the window that has an issue, I would check the wiring to the window motor and start there.
Disconnected my battery for 20 minutes and now it works.

Give it a shot. Some have said to try and reset the BCM's by disconnecting the battery overnight

Won't Unlock with Key??? Then you either have the wrong key, or a mechanical issue. Most probably the lock cylinders were replaced and the key is wrong. Thanks for watching.
what type of mechanical issues? I've had this van for over a year. so they are the right keys.
If you can't unlock a door with a key, you may have a key problem: either the key is worn out, cut wrong, or the wrong key. OR you may have a door problem: broken latch or door lock cylinder. Did the exact key you are using ever work on that door??

The proper way to take off the window switch panel on 2003 to 2006 and 2007 Classic body full size GM trucks is to remove the door panel first, unplug the switch harnesses and remove the bolt with the 7mm head towards the rear of the switch panel underside AND THEN remove it from the door panel. Otherwise you can bust it off and it will never stay on the door panel again. 1999 to 2002's can be removed from the top side without removing the door panel because these older models where designed to be held on with just clips.

My 203 Chev Trailblazer has a problem, sometimes the power lock, windows and keyless will not work. It could be before driving and sometimes while driving. The issue comes and goes. I was told it was a computer problem.

I took my door unit out and thumped it with a srewdriver handle. Everything worked after that.
Same thing here. Unplugged everything, whacked with a screwdriver handle, reassembled, everything works again.

Thanks for the video! Holy crap. This video gives at least three great examples of why I hate, hate, hate electronic crap on vehicles! First, a "door control module?" WTF? Seriously?! A computer for a door???! That's nuts. Second, $130 for said module??? Also nuts! And, a door module that affects the lock, the window, interior lights and maybe even the seat adjustment? Who designs this stuff??? Insanity.
The best repair for this would be, I swear, if you want to take the time to do it, to completely eliminate all the electronic sh1t and wire in a couple of regular, good ol' fashioned rocker switches to control all of this stuff! Worked great for decades. I'm fine with electronic fuel injection. It's efficient and cuts down on lots of carb adjusting. But, body control computers with submodules in doors??? NO! This is shear lunacy!
Thanks again - I'll check this out as soon as I get home. Hopefully I can find a good replacement at the junk yard. If not, I'm going with hardwired hardware, whatever it takes!

If a basic, minimal tech vehicle was offered by one of the major car manufacturers, it would be a top seller.... Over-tech bells-and-whistles are just more things to break, and needlessly difficult to troubleshoot and repair.

Alex I have a Tahoe with a passenger door not working.. found a orange wire from the 26 pin connector came. Do you know what pin at goes to.
Orange wire in GM usually carry voltage, however you can't be sure. I would try and fins a wiring diagram

Same problem with my 2012 Range Rover. Gonna pull controller tomorrow.
Some have said to try and reset the BCM's by disconnecting the battery overnight
This is happening again to my 2018 Chevy Malibu none of my windows will roll up or down the dealership already fixed it once where they replaced the main switch and it worked for about a year and now it's doing the same thing except time it's all of the windows not working 😲
Try unplugging the switch, disconnecting battery. Let sit overnight, then plug switch in and reconnect battery. Apparently that has worked for some.
