  • About 3 years after their installation the swales on the farm got some really good rains and filled up very well. I decided to take a look and share the results with my viewers.
    Several hundred thousand liters of water are now being infiltrated into the landscape that would have been run-off. This water will now help te recharge our aquifer and create a water plume that will help my trees to establish.

    I suggest armouring the sloping overflows between swales against erosion with the abundance of rock available to you.

    What do you think about mowing this new vegetation at 8 inches (20 cm) as green manure, to discourage the undesirable vegetation (generally non natives), and to encourage the desirable vegetation (generally natives). Mow 2 X per year - once at the first third of the rainy season and once at the end of the second third of your rainy season? 👍
