    I never get tired of watching 250R videos. I love mine, best bike I've ever had. I wish I would have such a playground in my "backyard", too. Here in my country riding off road is off limits almost everywhere.

      Thanks for watching JS N! You're going to see a lot of "wr250R praise" on my channel. The bike and this terrain never cease to amaze me. Sorry to hear about the trail access issues, I hope there are groups trying to make it better.

    Many have tried to dual sport an F and they are never happy with it. The R is heavy and a pogo stick stock, but it makes a great and reliable dual sport.

    Isn't the 250F a close ratio 5 speed? I was thinking of converting one time but after hearing that I decided it wasn't a good idea and I bought the WRR.

    • @crjmoto
      @crjmoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is. The WRR doesn't deal with flame-outs in the low gears like the 250f does.

    crj, Im 56 have the wr250r I have it setup and do enduro, single track H.S. and do road riding, Racetech suspension setup perfect for me, pipe, performance air filter and airbox mod, lower rear 3/4" front 1/2" , kenda washougal sticky front and kenda k270 rear, sweet bike that handles great, im looking at the wr250f 2007 with a plate, never road one , are they that much an improvement?

    • @crjmoto
      @crjmoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      First off, the wr250r is amazing even close to stock. The somewhat hefty weight and controllable/ tame power has benefits - like better for endurance, better traction at times, sit back and chill type riding, etc. But, you can't deny that a bike 50 lbs. lighter with more power (wr250f) is better for "tough" off road riding. So improvement in conquering tough terrain? My opinion is yes, it would be an improvement. Everything else the wr250r can handle just as good if not better. Just don't sell your R, you will regret it.

    • @efrey614

      The Kenda k270 is my off road tire of choice for my true dual sports, and they do great for me. I just bought a super mint modified 2006 wr250f and own a modified crf250l, and I am so happy with both bikes. I grew up racing motocross, and my plated like new wr250f is a huge improvement in so many ways for fast technical rough work off road for sure, by a mile, but it is not as comfortable or as good on the road and geared much lower. If you get, or got one, derestrict it asap, they are a great bike and I am in love, and making it a better all around bike by adding a seat concepts seat and cargo rack with small expandable trunk bag to the full FMF titanium power core pipe, street legal kit, Acebris large 3.4 gallon tank, and R and D carb bowl that were already on it. The stock seat is terrible on the wr250f. I payed not much more than the Mods themselves cost for a bike with just a few hours on it 600 miles total that still had 2006 stock rubber on it. He probably spent more time modifying it than riding it, but it was a great thing he did not do the seat or he would have likely kept it! I put track master 2's on it to make it legal here and try to stay off as much road as possible, I joined a off road resort 8 miles from my house with people riding every day there80 + miles of good trail along with 12 miles of single track for 225 for a year membership. I like that you can always find good guys to ride with even when alone or if you are alone and got hurt or broke down there are other people out riding the trails.

    I just found a wr250f 2006 in great shape with oversize tank and a fmf pipe for 2,400 bucks! I may have to pick it up! Do you think it is a decent deal for that price? It looks really well looked after with what he says is 1,500 miles. I have a heavily modified crf250l and love it and it is comfortable, and I will own it forever hopefully, but would love to have a more track worthy bike and a bike that I have a harder time reaching its limits off road. Keep the crf250l for the street work commutes trips and lighter trail play. It would keep me from needing to switch my rim and tire combo every week end too. On the crf250l it can only handle about 50 percent of my speed on rough stuff because of the suspension and weight. Do you think I would be happy with the F for the type of trail riding I want it for. I need lighter weight better suspension, and more power would be nice. It looks like the wr250f fits the bill for what I am looking for. I do not think I need bigger displacement at my weight 150 lbs. I raced a crf250r as my last race bike and would like something more like that but not as uncomfortable. I also found a 2013 husky 310 for a grand more and it looks like that is also an option , but I like Japan for my off road bikes, and it seems the wr250f is light enough with good enough suspension, and about ten more ponies than my crf250l.

    • @crjmoto
      @crjmoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you'd be happy with the wr250f, and that is a good deal, but if old faithful (crf250l) is going to stick around, you may as well go all-out trail bike and get a 2-stroke screamer. I fear the 250f and 250l will be too similar. That's how I often feel with the 250f and 250r. I love those 310's but you have to wonder why there's so few left on the trails... I feel like reliability was an issue with them. I vote light weight 2-stroke! Let me know what you wind up with efrey614!!!

    • @efrey614
      @efrey614 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Will do I just feel the weight and suspension will have me satisfied, but a 2 stroke dual sport would be great. I do not truck my bikes anywhere and must ride the road and this wrf is street legal already!

      @@efrey614 I'd take a 250f over a 450f for trail riding. Just my opinion/ preference

    • @efrey614
      @efrey614 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought this wr250f I was speaking of in this last comment and man oh man do I loooooove it!!! I could ride circles around myself while on this bike compared to if I was on a wr250r or a crf250l. On any thing rough, whooped out, or real technical,l and steep I could easily cut a lap time in half I bet. Best $2,400 I have spent, this bike is a gem, and more time went into modifying it than actually riding it actually, it still had the stock tires lol. I put on some Kenda 90/10 track master 2's and have been tearing up the miles off road on it as much as I can. Well over 100 off road miles so far and it is street legal to boot! I joined a local atv off road park with 80+ miles of trails located 8 miles from me, so it is perfect for this bike, it also has dirtbike single track about 12 miles. I saw that your lap time was better on the F over the R, but I grew up racing competitively, and I knew I would maximize any real difference in weight power and suspension between the two bikes. Now on a smooth flowing trail the difference in time would not be so great between crf250l and the wr250f. I do not feel these two bikes are similar especially when it comes to the weight, and rough stuff, or jumps for sure. I can get 10 feet of air and feels like no big deal, if I did this on the crf250l I would be dead or crippled. The crf250l is definitely the more comfortable road bike without question, and the better dual sport bike. I did order a too expensive in my opinion aluminum rear rack, only one I think that is made for this bike, and a seat concepts black and blue seat kit for this wr250f though to make it an all around better more versatile bike. The stock seat is atrocious, like sitting on a 2"x4" no joking. Is the oil change every 600mi. or 1,500 miles my manual says 600 mi. initial then 1,500 mi. for oil changes after that. I think it is every 1,500 miles is this correct??? It also seems to hold more oil than a guy's wr450f on you tube he said his is less than a quart!
