The WR is the business I live in Laos and we have some wonderful terrain in our back yard it’s just a challenge trying to get my hands on the a 2020 WR250F but I’ll persist until i manage to get one really enjoyed the video Good Work guys...!!!
I live in Vietnam and I have a WR250F. I am so on love with it. It makes the 250 dual sports feel like nothing - it's got more power than I'll ever use on these little tracks in the mountains. It's perfect on the trails. I can't stop raving about it and everyone who tries it is blown away.
I'm a heavy rider so I've been considering a 300cc TPI 2-stroke or 350cc 4-stroke. But this seems like the ultimate bike really, considering I'm not a good rider. I don't want something that will kill me for making the smallest mistake.
I’ve got the 2023 I’m in Canada so there are a few things that you need to do like get the competition ECU kit open the air box and exaust or get a better on it plugged up with a pea size hole for the exaust but once you those things it’s a rocket ship
I had one with a 280 kit fitted. Even better as a trail bike. I would not suggest one as an Adventure long range bike. It feels more like a racing horse than a Clydesdale for carrying weight all day; too frenetic in the motor.
28:37 I couldn't find this in the 2020 owners manual. It now states to do the same thing as a cold start. I totally agree with keeping the exhaust how it is intended. Still goes hard! Also, I was wondering what map you guy's use and if you find down low RPM at slow speed a little snappy? Awesome bike!!
The US model does not come with the communications unit necessary to modify the ECU. You must purchase the communications unit and the competition ECU in order to make any changes. GYTR Competition ECU: BAK-E9500-V0-00 GYTR Communication Control unit: B7R-H59C0-V0-00
Dave - was stalling an issue for the bike? Just put a deposit on a 2023. I am concerned because of some of the reviews I have read. But you guys don't seem to have a problem.
How light is the clutch and does it flame out easy? Really torn between this and a 2 stroke for technical trail riding. Love the 4 stroke but not the heavy clutch and flame outs!!
Thank you from France for a nice overview! How would you guys modify this or the WR450F to become a reliable trail riding bike and a dual sport bike for adventure riding! I think these bikes would be perfect for riding the TET , Trans European Trails, but I am worried about the short service intervals and the low fuel capacity. Do you know about anyone in Europe who, like Rally Raid, who could help modifying it? Does Chuck Yager work the Yamaha?
We've tried converting the 450 to an Adventure bike with limited success. There are other bikes off the shelf that are better. The conversion of the WR250R to adventure has been extremely successful, but I'm not sure if they are available in Europe.
Good looking bike, interesting reversed engine position design and air intake at the top is good idea... but... It's 10+ kg heavier than its ktm counterpart, 250exc-f, which makes the choice obvious for hard enduro guys..
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV For pros yes, but there are also us, mere mortals out there, who just like to challenge themselves every day in extreme terrain, but don't race for world podium :) After many years of riding 2-stroke I really hate those bulky 2t pipes, which I hit and dent everyday, so started to look into 4t as my new bike.. This beautiful yamaha is very tempting to buy, but the weight factor is really a game stopper when I imagine lifting it up after the off-camber fall... :)
@@DenisElpashev mate i'm like 63kg wringing wet. Have the 2015, novice rider so spend plenty of time picking my bike up. The weight is all low sprung you honestly don't notice. Just saying i wouldnt let the few extra kgs hold you back.
I can tell you from my experience riding a ktm 350, and my 2019 wr250f that the yamaha feels much better, has better suspension, and fires right up every time unlike the ktm. But they're both great bikes and obviously the 350 has more power, it all comes down to preference. I'd buy a yz250x or a 300exc before I bought another 4stroke 250. I do prefer yamaha's but the 300 2 stroke is insane and so much easier to do hill climbs and bog around. Haven't got to ride the husqy/ktm 250 2 stroke though. Just my 2 cents
Wait a minute. Did he just say they totally did away with the kick start!!!!! Thank you very much, but I will deal with the 0.5 kg for the piece of mind. You ALWAYS end up using the kick start! Bad Move Yamaha!!!
Not sure how well a fuel injected bike would kick start with a dead battery though. If it didn't have enough juice to run the fuel pump it might not start anyway, no matter how hard you kicked...
@@davewalton2358 ive had my WR not fire from the electric start, and not enough cranking Amps in the battery, but enough to prime the fuel pump. I was able to get it started from the kick start luckily to save me from being stuck. I replaced that battery with a LiPo one now as well.
I had a buddy that had a wr450 that refused to start with the electric start but would start with 1 kick hot or cold I’m a 2 stroke guy and I could start it lol it needs a kick start for sure
I still get hard starts even warm, I can't even start it on first gear w/ clutch. unlike other dirt bikes! Crazy i want to sell it, its like i bought a first gen electric start motorcycle. 2 lines does not help all the time!
I had the '15 250FX that did the same thing, thought the clutch was f'd up. Upon research it was a factory quirk, the clutch never really releases fully. It gets better as the oil warms, but if u cold start it and slam it into first it stalls. I read if u pull the clutch plates out and soak them in oil for a day, re install it goes away.

You know they went from about$200 2 bored out put a new piston 2 about$600 4 piston replacement because when they board the cylinder that have to re chrome moly it you know what that cost in Australia but in the states it's like for $500 to have it Chrome Moly plated and my prices are without labor because I usually would put them together myself I built a lot of bikes & a lot of cars

THANK YOU for mentioning the Los of power and increase in noise from removing the screen and baffle pipe. Too many people don't realize these things!
Tell you what that’s about the best review for this bike I’ve seen .👍

thanks mate. Great fun to do. Now back to the big adventure bike reviews.
Always looking forward to new 2020 WR250F vids .. great job 💯
Glad you like them!
I had a wrf 2006 and i only used the kick starter once in 10 years to try how it works...
Great point.
Super videos..I wonder what’s the WR250F service intervals in KM?
Would LOVE to see a direct comparison of the WR 250R / 250F / 250X 🙏

Occasional flame out. Clutch fine
You need to run your audio through a compressor. Some parts are way too quiet, others are way too loud. It's not difficult to normalize it.
yes
very detail review, Great Job.
Does this 2020 model have any engine flaws and faults? want to buy this motorcycle with mileage.
No idea.
Fine looking sand riding on that Orange DRZ :)
good run down of the wr250 f

Is the baffle removal relevant to all models or just the efi’s??
Just new efis
