I went to the teens section of the store because the women's section didn't have anything like that! If you want short shorts you've gotta be a teen?? • @iiii12345

They don’t mean children should wear revealing clothes they mean like late teens/early 20s is when you should be wearing shit like that, after a certain age if you wear that type of stuff it just looks like you’re tryna be young.

    • @lizsmith1018
      @lizsmith1018 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +40

@@iiii12345 “it just looks like you’re tryna be young”
I think you proved the issue with the whole thing by that sentence alone. Did you ever think about why people say revealing clothing is for the youth, and get weirded out by “older people” wearing the same thing? It’s because youth is sexualized, especially for women, and anyone above the ages of 25-28 is seen as decrepit waste already. The beauty standards - for women especially- is pedophilic, which should never be seen as sexy. A mature body wearing revealing clothing should be considered the norm for being sexy far more than minors wearing the same thing.
And you may read this reply and think I’m trying to police younger women, I’m not. The issue is a societal problem, in which “beauty” should not automatically mean “youth”. Policing ANYONE’S body won’t solve that problem the way society thinks it would. This will be a difficult issue to tackle, but not one that should be ignored.

I am like that age range right now and people look at me weird for talking and laughing a lot at school. They all expect me to wear crop tops and be silent the whole class, but none of them act their age they all try to be like 16 but were not. If i laugh too hard people will stare at me weird even though im just having fun. And they call me weird for just talking but again i feel it would be so boring to just not talk at all or laugh at school.

Not to lessen the struggle but this isnt new/due to "cringe culture". Only difference is now the internet plays a role so rather than getting made fun of by ten or twenty people, it's thousands of people you dont even know. This is how you find the real friends; they won't laugh at you for the interests you have.
personal anecdote. I had a friend I watched Naruto and Yu-gi-oh with. He started hanging out with two other people and started making fun of me for watching "Narutard and yu-gay-oh". I stopped hanging out with him but I never felt hurt because I know he wanted to be accepted by those two bullies and probably got ragged on for his interests causing him to flip hard and take it out on me. She says she'll stop sexualizing herself, but wears the tightest clothes and shortest skirts because she feels like she needs to in order to feel pretty. @@mmeggnnit’s not. Producers for small children’s shows will ALWAYS say their show is for “all ages” because they want to harbor a place of childlike wonder and absolute acceptance that can be opened up and enjoyed occasionally in a moment of nostalgia sometimes as an adult, and to make older children less ashamed of enjoying it. Like Mr. Rogers. He would tell you his show was for all ages because Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood was a show that wanted to create a safe space and it would be kind of mean for a character like Mr Rogers to suddenly turn around and exclude adults. But we all know Mr. Rogers Neighborhood was produced for children. But more specifically in the case of Bluey they’re talking about the fact that Bluey was also made for parents to watch with their kids so they can learn together how to problem solve as a family. The demographic of the show is for preschoolers. That’s a fact. But it’s not bad if you watch it. Just don’t. Idk don’t get weird about it.

-Yeah #metoo, feminism is good, you do you, you're equal etc.
-Oh okay, so we stop shaving, stop wearing make up, stop wearing high heels?
-No no no. You keep doing that. Except now you're doing it *for yourself* "
People are all for women's rights as long as women still do what's expected of them lmao. If you actually do what you want and it doesn't fit the range of what's "acceptable" then you're a crazy ugly ultra feminist bitch.
I get called an extremist by my not even conservative parents because I don't wear bras and don't shave my body hair. *How extreeeeeeeeme*

I’d only do hair removal in the summer to be more comfortable. I love looking through toy websites or listings on eBay and seeing how they are designed. I find them so cute and fun to look at, touch and play with. You should never, ever be shamed for doing what you love, especially "child" things when you are a child; putting age restrictions on things (except ofc adult matters that are not safe for kids, like sexualization) is a cruel social invention. As a teen, (I’m 14 & freshmen ig) I think we need to talk about age stereotypes.
People expect us to watch certain things and act a certain way because of how young we are. For example, watching mlp or play with toys. In a world where society and social media shames us for being teens/tweens and liking those very things, we automatically want to seem more grown up and people TELL us to be more grown up.
I don’t think a lot of ppl know this but almost EVERYONE or every single teen/tween has had an awkward or cringe phase that we grow out as time passes. Ppl want to fit in to be perceived better in society and everything changes once in middle school. Ppl shame us for liking childish things and ppl shame us for liking more mature things, so is there really a right or wrong?

@@estefyhengja "Without know where they are headed"... This hit me harder that it should. I don't like diving into things headlessly, yet that's what I exactly do most of the time without realizing. The realization of the lack of direction and thinking hit me for a while. I'm thankful for deciding to watch this video. Diving into the unknown is one thing sure, but diving into the unknown knowing there are possibility bombs in the sea is another.
(No one need to read this, but if anyone does, the rest of this will be a rant and the thought process of someone that felt like they need to mature quickly and therefore will be an absolute contradiction that may or may not make any sense whatsoever. I'd like to see someone decode my thoughts for me as I'm not the best at it or maybe any tips cause I need them if I'm honest.)
Just doing without understanding really makes me feel uncomfortable. I'd rather live knowing that I'm doing something stupid rather than feel like I'm smart enough to know fully about something but in reality I don't.
As a minor reading this I feel like I shouldn't be here especially after watching the video. Maybe I'm just tired of people overly shielding me from these types of topics just because "oh you're too young"? I understand that they want to protect me from the harsh reality, but it feels like it would be more dangerous to just go straight into a field without knowing the existence of mines on them the moment I've "grown up". It would protect me more if I had gained at least some proper insight of these things.
I've been the type to ask "why?" to people on why certain things are like that and they just avoid the question. I just don't like the feeling of being brainwashed due to my lack of knowledge and understanding about something and me just... Obeying the thought process. What if something's wrong and I'm just the next person repeating it? If there's no concrete reason other than "just because", why should I fully trust to do what someone else does? I need guidance and maybe a bit of knowledge to at least protect myself, not some just because.
Alright, I get I'm too young to know this, why am I too young to know this then? Should I avoid it? Is it mostly good or bad? There's probably a fine line that I can't see right? At least a proper introduction would be nice instead of you just throwing it out there and leave me hanging on why it's like that. Even just telling me that there is a reason, but you can't say the reasoning due to this or that is good enough. At least I'm aware of the topic and when the time comes I can know more about it.
I think this explains some of the thoughts that go around my head. Because I feel clueless and curious about what someone has mentioned, I want to know more about that thing. The only way to know about that thing is to be older, and so I'm excited for when you gain the right to know this or that. Because I know something, I feel like I'll know everything because that's all you know that exists, when there's something more. Getting older involves maturity a lot of times so I'll try and get mature quickly. I'll act because you feel like you need to do so because of what I know. That's probably just part of the truth though, I know there's probably a lot more behind that.
This is rant is ironic though if I'm honest. The video talks about people acting like grown-ups and that they should slow down and stay like a child if they still can, yet here I am... A minor trying to know more about these types of things and feeling like they've matured even if I have a long way to go and I'm not really mature whatsoever. I need to slow down, heh.
I'm not even sure if this is either a responsibility to know more about it, a necessity or whatever. I don't think it is any of those though. Maybe I'm just a knowledge-starved person after discovering these types of things exist. Maybe I'm just brainwashed by the constant push of modern society moving forward these days. I know it's not my job to know about these things after all. I'm thinking I'm just feel unsafe with everything at this rate so that's why I feel the need to mature quicker. "You're unsafe when you don't know anything" is probably one of the things I need to work on along with "I need to know everything" as the possible roots. Not a 100% sure, but it's worth a shot to see how it goes.
Guess I'm a walking contradiction. I don't know any better than what I understand and that's fine. I can't just correct any of these things to a healthy extent overnight anyways especially when they've become a habit/mentality. I can't undo any of this work I've done to try and mature either, even then I'm thankful for it happening. Just glad I grew up a somewhat decent person.
I'm just rambling at this point so I'll leave it here. If anyone reads it thanks it means a lot to me. I'll just sort myself out for a moment... Take care...!

I personally don't like Fortnite and I have to admit to silently judging people about it but then again I used to play it recently enough (within several months ago) and I loved it so I regret doing that. I think it's fine if you like fortnite! Just be yourself and do what you like and ignore the haters. The real reason why fortnite players get hate is some of them can be annoying and toxic but as long as you aren't you're fine and if you want to keep it to yourself that's fine as long as you don't feel as if you need to change for others. As a gamer girl who's 14 I wish you the best, also please stay away from creeps in video games online they can be so fucking gross when they find out you're a girl, and don't let randos online put you down. (speaking from experience). You should make the most of being a kid now while you still have it and don't let anyone shame you for that. Anyways please remember this

Turned 15 this month, and you put this SO eloquently and with poise!! Even over the last couple of years, the natural abstractness/gaps in development of maturity and interests through the "tween" and teen years have been obliterated by conflicting societal pressures and physical/emotional standards skyrocketing upwards. The actual stage that our minds are in often no longer matches the maze of expectations in our culture, and the various ways in which one our age can be "intelligent," "confident," or "creative" have been reduced, diminished, and matured beyond our scope. I have been told that i'm immature compared to my brother, only because I trust the passage of time and don't want to throw away my interests immediately. My apologies for the lengthy comment!!!!

As a young person, it’s so hard to wear anything without being sexualised. When i wear something that shows more skin I’m told that it’s inappropriate. For example, my school was having a no uniform day and i wanted to wear a dress that shows my shoulders (this was partially because my friend had been made to wear her jacket all day the previous day because her shoulders were showing despite it being like 25 degrees c) and when i tell my mum she tells me i can’t because it would be too ‘sexy’. But then when i try wearing baggier clothes in a period of time where i had been VERY insecure about my body, i was told that i was a ‘prude’ or a ‘Billie Eilish wannabe’ by my friends and family. Honestly i don’t understand society’s stupid ideals anymore

I'm 16, and sometimes I find it so disheartening when people tell me to "grow up"/"stop being so childish". I still love and play with legos, still collect plushies and sleep with a teddy bear, read comic books, like "kid" cartoons and movies - and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Why should I be into adult things? Realistically I'm still a child, and I can and will be mature and responsible when I need to be, so what's the issue?
My own mother and friends have made comments about how strange it is that I still like legos and plush toys, but, my mom will later go on to praise me for not wanting to grow up too quickly. Maybe there's a middle ground I'm missing?
And, while I'm doing this little rant - I find it so strange for people my age and even younger to stay out late, especially after they go out to other towns/cities. For example, some of my friends all took a bus up to a city just a few days ago, to go to a disco, and some of the shit my friend has told me about seeing there is actually insane. I don't wanna go into detail, but she said that there was people just openly having sex. Which, firstly, ew. Second, why? We're too young for that! We have our entire lives to go out, and hook up, and have one night stands, there's no reason for us to waste our childhood years - which we only get to experience once - trying to be adults when 85% of our lives will be spent being adults.

I was sa’d and so it made me extremely hypersexual due to trauma. I’m with a guy I’ve been with for almost 3 years now which is pretty unheard of due to hoockup culture and have grown so much.
