András Schiff plays with so much depth, understanding, experience and, when appropriate, humour. He is an exquisite pianist, at one with the instrument, who appears to be getting better with every year that passes. A wonderful performance.
I do not know much about piano music, but this performance attracts me!
What I love the most about his musicianship is how his ego steps aside and allows the composer's wishes - what's in the score - to come true through his playing. Clarity, insight, and incredible tonal voicing.
Yes, that is what I love the most too. He is totally dedicated to the music. "Music is about love", he once said.
che suono ha questo maestro!Di una dolcezza ed eleganza estreme!!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks, Sand Wolf. Have listened to András Schiff play this many times, but listening AND watching is an even greater joy. Thank you!
many of these dances are INCREDIBLY difficult to play, the left hand often demanding a virtuoso. Schiff must have spent hundreds of hours playing this throughout his lifetime to play it all live.
Thank you ever so much!
"Just before he died, Robert Schumann wrote that Brahm's music seemed to him like a waterfall, 'overarched by a peaceful rainbow, while butterflies played along its borders...' But Schumann, who may have been in the late stages of syphilis, was hearing angelic voices in his head - gradually they turned hellish & drove him insane."
-Edward Rothstein, N.Y. Times - May 27, 1984.
Bravo! Thanks very much!❤❤❤❤❤

Many notes under the table .... but the grand gesture covers it up !
Amazing!
Schumann wrote the dynamics, integral to the score, for very good reason. In this performance Schiff appears to play little attention to their importance to the character of this complex work
really thanks to upload...
Dude moved his hands like a jazz musician. Nice.
16:21 XIII. Wild und lustig - Similar to Scriabin's B minor prelude Op. 11 No. 6...
Do you have the video of when he played the Fantasie Op. 17?
I uploaded 1st mov. here th-cam.com/video/KnbdUCczAw8/w-d-xo.html
listen to julia hamos play it on schiff's program, first
@@janbonsema5888 i have
26:15 - 27:00 wow !!
Mükemmel budur...
the link to X. Balladenmäßig - Sehr rasch should be corrected: should be 12:44 instead of 11:44
Fixed. Thanks

다 안다
Non capisco perche non suoni alcuni ritornelli.. altri si.
8:32.
He plays extremely good. However, I disagree with about every choice he makes in his interpretation.
Please post your own interpretation soon!
@@tgchicotyou dont need to be just as good at someone else at what they do to have an opinion on their performance
@@karrotkake You need to be good enough to have a valid opinion.
@@tgchicot ??? thats such a stupid thing to say. so they have to learn this entire piece and play it themself just to have an opinion on the interpretation? so they have to enjoy every single performance even if its horrible, just because they dont have any proof of playing it how they want? i understand that being able to play well can give you a higher musical intellect, but why should they have to show proof of themselves doing something better than the person theyre talking about to some anonymous person that disagrees with them?
@@karrotkake They don't have to show proof, it was a simple invitation. How are we to know what the critic's interpretation is if he cannot show us?
Correct mais peut mieux faire
A rather dull and unimaginative performance.
Who do you prefer?
??
Ok maybe but it's still Schumann
