- We explain how to build a raised patio on a permeable base. We start by going through the steps required to construct a solid base. Once the base is put in place, we add Raffinato steps to complete the build and we finalize the landing with an hybrid pavement and a grill island. We also present tools and drainage solutions.

My home is on a raised foundation and I need to build 15ft Long X 8ft wide landing with 2 steps going down to a pea gravel garden.
I have clay soil and the area has a slight slope so I am concerned when it rains , what will happen and where will water travel to and will it damage the landing and steps ?
Would you recommend getting a drainage for the area and amend the soil with lime and 3/4 clean stone?

If I would like to raise my patio a foot or two should I just add more crushed rock to make it 24 inch of crushed rock? Or add more dirt and keep 4 inch crushed rock?
I would just add 24 inches of the clean stone, not crushed.
Where can you purchase the foam that is installed between the patio and the wall? I need to purchase this but cannot find a supplier in Canada.

Any Home Depot , Lowes or local hardware store. Its just gutter foam.

I think that patio needs more stones. Not enough stones.
Probably a 80-100k job and they are “not responsible” for the area 3’ from the foundation. Will all of that prep you can clean out the bottles,cans and other garbage and fix the backfill area? Seems irresponsible when that kind of money is spent.
So the cardboard sono tubes require cutting of the geo grid but the plastic ones don’t? How is that magic done?
Would hate to have to move, place, and cut those raffinato blocks all day. How much do one of those weigh? Come back in 5 years that kind of weight cuts like butter thru that new construction back fill. Wont matter how compacted the top 10" is or layers of fancy fabric you put. You can put fondant or betty crocker on it its still a sponge cake underneath.
Actually, just visited this site yesterday. Has not moved at all. Proper amendment, compaction and reinforcement are doing the job!
@@MrAlexCadieux guess a bag of lime and rocks and you can put any amount of weight on it huh? Most areas code would req. footer and struct.eng. for that kind of weight especially on that subpar soil.

the top landing area is horrible...the rest of it looks so nice, I dont understand that layout for the pavers on top
