I’m 68 and i have actually done this before, but i was 48! Lol i can still do it- just finished tiling a master bath, and a laundry room. Finishing hall bath now! Lol(ps,as you can tell, i am also a woman!)
I really enjoyed your well thoughtout, well designed "Paver Patio" project which turned out exceptionally perfect! Please keepmup the awesome work! Well done to you, and your family!
For those of us who don't have a father-in-law with a bobcat, this is completely unrealistic for the average homeowner. This is why most of end up hiring somebody to do the job.
@@ncfriend5233 It just depends on how long you and your family want it looking like a building site. All a bobcat does is makes the digging part take a couple of hours with minimal effort rather than a day or two with loads of physical effort. If you want it done in a couple of days, then hiring a contractor to do it is the way.
was a great video, until I saw you put the weed barrier under the mulch. you will regret that in a couple of years when the mulch breaks down and you have a layer of compost on top of the weed barrier....which is a GREAT seed bed for weeds. Weed barrier works great under rocks to keep them from getting buried in the ground below, but not recommended under mulch.
Question: So why does everyone skip putting a gap between the pavers and place them tight? I've done brick pavers and we left 1/4" filled (filled with sand) to allow for expansion. Thanks!
Question please, sometimes after filling with sand joints and compacting, some paver edges pop out and not flat anymore. Know why that happens? Excellent work by the way!
Improper compacting(ya missed a spot) when compacting. Its easy to do.also frost heave. You have to know how deep to dig out, based on your frost line in your part of the country. Ours is 8 inches.
How are you handling the steep incline leading into the patio? I’m sure it brings mulch, mud & water on the patio. I thought maybe a little knee wall then flatten out the slope with a flower bed. But not bad turn out real nice
I'd really recommend a face shield and proper breathing protection when running that grinder. A nice patio isn't worth much if you're blind or dying of lung cancer.
Great video, as usual! Any chance you could give more detail on the soldier course material? Is it Holland Premier from unilock in dark charcoal? Or something else?
Lowe's, Menards, or Home Depot usually have some equipment/heavy equipment you can rent and have dropped off for daily/weekly rates! That's what I plan to do for mine :) Make sure you have 811 come out and mark gas and water lines before you dig.
You cheated by using the bobcat. Most of us normal DIYers don't have access to that kind of stuff. I'd most likely rent a tiller from Lowe's or Home Depot to easily and quickly soften the ground, then use a shovel to actually remove the dirt.
This video sucks.. A. Skipping over so many details one would need and look for when clicking on it B. Went a bit overboard on the layers underneath the actual pavers.
title: Man's father in law builds paver patio
😂😂😂😂
My thoughts exactly. What a weenie! His FiL did all the hard work.
I wish my father-in-law just so happened to have a bobcat laying around
I am a 65 yr old woman in Fl - and, I think I can do this with an extra hand or two!!! Thank you!
Keep up the positivity ❤it
NICE OF YOU TO CHIME IN@@ciararespect4296
You are really courageous lady stay healthy
I'd help you , then my own. Howdit come out?

Thank you for your great info
Step one, get a bobcat 😑
Few hundred to rent
Wow, I'll need a bobcat and a father-in-law with paving skills! 🙃
You can do it by hand. It just sucks haha
Instructions not clear. Now I have a large scar on my back from trying to feed it
Stop being lazy😂
Yes, because everyone just has a Bobcat hanging around...oh and a dumptruck....
NICE ONE!

Great work guys! It turned out amazing! I’ll do mine next week 😎
BobCat - guess that would make it look easy - bewdy! ~;0)
is amazing and you have a good helpers and tools great job sir.
It looks great and you made it look easy. I wish many great moments there for your family!
Cool patio
Amazing job iam about to do my back yard this way.thanks for the video
You are a pro! all the equipment you have...duh! would be easy
We do 16 to 18 " of base prep

Left out a lot of essential info
Great job.
The title should be changed to “how to record other people laying my patio while I narrate and upload it to my TH-cam channel”
Hint* use a pump sprayer to wet your saw cut to eliminate the silica dust
If I had one available at the time that would have been a great option.
i would recommend steel 12 inch spike they will rest in the ground so the freeze and thaw wont raise up the plastic edgeing
How much it costs you?
Nice job. Thanks for posting!
Was worried I couldn't do this project, your video was so easy to follow! Thank you
Step 1: Get $30,000 machine.
Wow this is nice i need you to come do mine
Question: So why does everyone skip putting a gap between the pavers and place them tight? I've done brick pavers and we left 1/4" filled (filled with sand) to allow for expansion. Thanks!
Why did the sod cutter not work? Ground too hard or rocky?
too dry and hard
Looks good, but wow, it costs quite a bit. Just did one myself and everything is so expensive now.

You have your daddy help to use the big machine…
Step one, hire a contractor

Those easy spikes look like an easy way to hit some sort of utility line.
call before you dig. Its pretty simple Adam.
Never be able to drive those spikes in straight where I live
Молодец!👍
Muito bom
i’ve seen that concrete edge restraints are recommended when not using sand screeding. what made you stay with the traditional edge restraint?
Was just gonna comment this. This edging is not supposed to be used with this type of base. Everything I’ve seen says it has to be concrete
No sub grade?
Would this be the same process you'd use for a driveway?
What is the name of the industrial weed block you used?
Please come to NorCal and help us build our 300sf patio. They are quoting us 20k insane, total BS.
Gorgeous!
What did you use as a straight edge for the curve cut?
I used a string to mark the radius and then free handed the cut.
Great video, as usual!
Any chance you could give more detail on the soldier course material? Is it Holland Premier from unilock in dark charcoal? Or something else?
Thank you! The soldier course is unilock brussels block in the color dark charcoal (half stone).
Do you have a link to where you can buy the paver edging?
I bought it locally but its similar to this one: amzn.to/3XkitKy
Can I ask estimated cost on this project?
I’m interested in the rough cost as well. Great video!
@@bongobongo1927 depends on the cost of the stone ... id say around $1,500 - $2,000
Now I need to find a bobcat 😭

Is it possible to pull this off without a bobcat?
Yes. Can use a shovel. Just takes longer.
What did you use to cut the pavers?
did u add pitch to it? is it necessary to add it?
Wondering how many items from millions of landscaping projects are actually biodegradable 🤔
LOL "like a pro" yea professionsal have bobcats, I dont.
You cheated by using the bobcat. Most of us normal DIYers don't have access to that kind of stuff. I'd most likely rent a tiller from Lowe's or Home Depot to easily and quickly soften the ground, then use a shovel to actually remove the dirt.
Hello how are you guif me nombre
Nice attempt , maybe next time
Yeah, lost me at Bobcat.
I think I’ll just call a pro.
If you've got the money to spend and know the right pro. I would too!
So the father in low did all the heavy lifting and you just played with the wooden board and the garden plastic.
This video sucks..
A. Skipping over so many details one would need and look for when clicking on it
B. Went a bit overboard on the layers underneath the actual pavers.
Haha easy work with a tractor 😂
Thats done completely wrong 🤣 it wont last more then 10 years guaranteed...
what did they do wrong?
What did you use to cut the pavers?
Wow! I understand you have this all figured out. Definitely not a tutorial.
