Thank you all who watched our live premiere! I’m sorry I accidentally got kicked out at the end! Looking forward to chatting next weekend 😊
It would be amazing to know why she had the books. The history of her life must be so awesome!
Can you imagine being her traveling companion or even just being in her shadow. What a magnificent lady she must have been.
Those books are a treasure in themselves! I make journals and even the torn and tattered ones have value to artists…they have a beauty all of their own. Thank you for sharing with us. I enjoyed each piece.
Thanks for giving us another glimpse into Marie's stylish, well-read, and well-travelled life. She was certainly a gracious lady!
Love the egg!
There are so many wonderful things about that house. That bookcase is such a treasure! ❤
It really is!
WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE, LIKE GOING TO A MUSEUM!! LOVED YOUR PRESENTATION!!!❤😂
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for that compliment!😄
LOVE watching this with you as you discover, but be careful with those books some are priceless.
Thanks for watching! We’re being very careful with everything ☺️
You should find one of the you tubers who clean out yards and let them film cleaning out the yard.
I agree that Al and the guy and his dad that live in OK but go down to FL would really enjoy doing their yard!!
These books my dad Louis Lazarus , his father from Ingwiller, France -Germany had many of these. My Mom and Dad traveled the world, as I have. I spent time with my cousins in France. Bringing back memories. Thanks to you.Carol
Glad to hear. Thanks for joining us on this journey.
I just loved this section on looking at the books. So many really interesting books. I hope you keep us all informed as to what you got to save and are putting back in the house.
Have you taken any of those yet to a book dealer for pricing? I bet you have some expensive items! Some of that piano music might be as well. And I wanted to say I also love hearing the birds in the background
You are welcome
Wow, the abundance of treasures you have found is amazing. What a life Marie must have had. You should do an ancestry search on her. See if there are any living relatives. Maybe some still in France? I could literally spends forever researching that stuff. You have me craving more information on Maries history from her youth.
I would be in my happy place looking through those book
I would be sitting on the floor surrounded by books and reading
How exciting to have those wonderful old books. Love love old books . What a treasure!
Even if you can't share her history I encourage you to interview Marie. Did her parents leave Armenia & when ? What year was she born ? I love the handmade cover of stamps , the book on Balzac ( I loved the Rodin sculpture in Paris of Balzac, so imposing) & was her father a veterinarian ? Wish she would share her history with y'all. The ship may give insight to when and/or how her family arrived to the US. My inlaws, on Long Island, had a picture of a ship in their basement. It came with the second home they purchased in their marriage. They were Sicilian and I wondered how a German Nazi liner could be hanging on their basement wall. The mother in law was superstitious, believing the previous owners, that the picture had to remain on the wall. Interesting life of "stuff" left behind, even if with all the "Ratatouille" Thank you for sharing ~ Wanda
Thanks so much for watching! We did have a chance to visit with her 😊
What a wonderful ides/suggestion - to interview Miss Marie and get her story down on paper.
What a lovely collection of books! I believe any 1st edition copies have value. (There are always collectors out there that would totally be interested.) Such an amazing house! What an adventure for you two! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching!
Loving the cardinals singing their hearts out 🥰 You can tell a lot about a person by the things they hold dear eh? She is a progressive woman, with the soul of an artist.
If the books are first editions they are valuable.
I was thinking about the piano when you showed the music sheets, you could keep the piano and reinforce the area under it in the basement maybe put columns under in the basement.
I have found really old books in my life time. I've took on pain staking time to wipe and dry each page to save the specific special ones, but I made sure to really dry each page. Some books took weeks to clean, but it was worth it.
Marie has a la belle Vie life!
Thanks for discovering the previous owners life. She had an amazing amount of experiences and collections. So sad it seems no family to pass it on too. But, a wonderful job you are doing sharing with us all!
All that's left of a life. A life well-lived, I think.
THis house is beautiful I hope you are going to preserve it. BTW check all the books in case they have hidden treasure.
Thank you! That's the plan!
It’s all fascinating! I know it’s important to protect Marie’s privacy, but I would love to learn more about her. Also, anything about the original owners. I love your videos 🙂
Be careful with old books with green binding. They may have arsenic in the cover because it was used to make the dye years ago. Great finds!
Good to know!
The Merck manual is a great resource! It's a keeper!
The book wit the art work and yes I would have been traveling wit her ; Yes Art is something to have around and enjoy ; first edition books my fav Lucky a thrill it must be ! For the love of things that seem the past !
That was fun to go through the built in book case. I love old books. The sets of books are very nice that you found, programs and menus.
I'm 73, received a few boxes of books that were my Maternal Grandmothers. There's a few grade school books that were hers and my Grandfathers, I really appreciate having them. When I went through all the books, I found newspaper clippings, cards, photos, church bulletins, and other random paperwork; kept it all but in a box instead of the books.
I love houses that have built in cabinets and shelves. The stairs have space under them, is there any access to the other sections of "under the stairs" from other rooms. Seems it would be such wasted space if no access, usually in older houses they utilized all spaces.
I'm still searching for that secret room, but by the looks of it as the stairs go up, beneath them, the stairs to the basement go down.
@@CicadaAndCo - ah...makes sense. I forgot there's a basement, it's so unusual in Florida to have one. Yes, many homes have basement stairs under the main stairs.
Guess that answers that question. Thank you
I understand it's time consuming, but you need to check every book in every page of those books because people from that era used to stash money and certificates inside a books. Thank you for sharing it is very interesting wish you all the luck.
Thanks, we’re flipping!
Such fun to see the treasures & a lovely cabinet as well. It will be great to make some money off the treasures you don't want to keep.
So true! Thank you for watching!
I have enjoyed watching you journey on this wonderful home. I look forward to more videos
I love everything in the bookcase❤
Check all books for money as well. I've just begun this episode but so far the Sarah B. Is the most valuable ephemera in the case. Also see my previous episode comments on odor removal. The France SHIP booklet may be worth looking into.
This is truly special
I believe Marie is Catholic from one of the frames you showed with Catholic medals on it. You are finding so many fantastic things. What a wonderful life this woman has led.
So many amazing finds. Thanks for showing us. Love the old books and ephemera.
Thanks for watching!
Belleek pieces, the 24 carat gold one, are worth some money.
What wonderful finds you have. I am in the UK, please can you tell me what bird is that we can here? I haven't heard it before, it's so lovely. I think you have found real treasure there.
Es hermoso ver con el respeto que hacen todo!! Gracias por compartir.
My husband loved the books and liked hearing the dates. I loved her scarves and wanted to ask if you are selling her things online. I particularly liked the floral scarf. Beautiful! Your home is amazing! Happy for you both. The outside is wonderful as well. The birds sound so happy. Watching all your adventures finding all her treasures. Hope you are contacting an appraiser on a lot of her items. It would help pay for renovations.😊
Please let me know about the scarf. Thank you.
I truly enjoyed How careful and caring you were about going through her things and appreciating it for what it is… I hope that if you do not keep these things that you would at least put them on eBay for others that truly would enjoy these items… And it certainly would help towards your renovation costs as well… Thank you for your kindness for this woman she seem like she was truly educated cultured she seems like a wonderful woman.
The Radio City MH program and tickets may go well at an auction. Look on the copyright page for #'s in accending order where 1would be 1st printing and 10 being lower, however, may still be worth something.
Hello there from Europe! As I envy really your special discoveries ( not the rats!) in the house. Those books...wow!!! I'd like to help you with French translations if you wish. As I speak French very well.
I think Marie was a very special person. Lots of luck in and with the house!
Kindest regards, Betty
Thank you so much! We’ll keep that in mind if we come across something we need translated. Thanks so much for watching!😊
What a wide variety of books in her collection.
Wow lots of wonderful things in that book shelf.
The Christmas Carol books were common for family and friends to gather and sing together.
Did you look into a local historical society for references on some of those books? Some may be 1st editions and of value. I also someone contacting Antiques Roadshow to have one of their historical appraisers come and evaluate your treasures. 😊😊
She sure was a very cultured woman and from what you have shown us, she had great taste in art and books. May I ask if the lady is still alive, and as a thought, would you guys consider visiting her and see if she can remember her life back then and try getting her story before it's lost forever. Well I don't know how long it took you to empty the cupboard nut if it was me I'd be there all day 😊. Looking forward to the next one. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
We were there looking at the books for quite a while! We were actually able to visit with her and had a lovely conversation. It took us a while to find her, but I’ve gone to see her a few times now ☺️
@@CicadaAndCo is she happy that you guys own the house now. Is it possible you can give some of her story, she probably has an incredible story to tell. Apart from that thank you for reaching out to her and making friends with an incredible lady, it's probably done more for her than you know. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
I had that same Christmas Carol song book! ( The first one you showed)
Aw nice!
I am not sure if anyone has written this yet, I jumped in your story a bit late but binge watched from the start.
My guess is the family was originally Armenian and escaped in 20's when there was a war with Turkey.
The Armenian intellectual were very enthusiastic about arts and music, also French was common language for them to learn. There were some books written in Armenian letters.
If Marie was born in 1920's, she would have been around 10 in 1930, suitable for piano lessons. that probably doesn't match her age though. Maybe she had elder siblings?
So as a curator in a museum, surely colleagues could give you an idea of value of some of these items? If only Antiques Roadshow would come into town.
Would love to hear about the previous owner, her life, a pic maybè
She sure had some nice things 🎉 very nice taste😅❤
The only thing I saw I didn't like was the angel plate which didn't look displayed. The books and papers were quite special. The menu from the United States Liner reminded me of a recent abandoned show featuring the liner and how unique it is. She must have been a very interesting person. Thank you for sharing!
I love the book of Christmas Carols !!! So beautiful !
Me too!!
The Lido is a famous French night club. Marie led an exciting life of art and travel.
I loved "art d'aimer" or how to love ❤👍😎
Love your videos. Wish I could have helped going thru everything. I love doing that kind of thing.
We definitely could have used the help! It’s very fun work but we had a lot to go through!
I want those books😢
The bound collection of advertisements and stories was a collection of magazines.
That cover with the stamps is probably a stamp album-those cellophane pockets inside are for the stamps you collect. The stamps on the cover are just decorative.
Bonjour! She was born in Paris 😊
That's some centerfold lol
😂
Rats can chew thru soft brick.
Antique road show , piano music, and France piano music . Wrapped up for some reason
I wonder if these books are first editions?
Please turn your closed caption on in your videos to help us hard of hearing folks. Love the house and videos !
Hi! You should be able to turn your closed captions on in your settings 😊 Hope that helps!
@@CicadaAndCoThey say unavailable . You have to turn them on for us to be able to access.
@@CicadaAndCoyep cc not available.
@@poodlegirl55 @bridgwll Thanks for letting us know. We do have them enabled (you'll see they work in all our other videos). I'm not sure why they're not working in this one, but we'll look into it.
Great video, thks for respecting former owner. It's sad family doesn't want anything. How long was the house vacant before yall bought it. I'm in FL as well. Gorgeous home
Thanks so much for watching 😊The house was vacant for about five months before we purchased it.
I know you are well advanced in your clean out, but I think I would have gotten some crates to sort the books into as I emptied the cupboard to reduce the handling. I hope you can find a buyer for the old books, such treasure, not that my French is up to the task.
Thanks for watching! By the time we got to the bookcase all our organizing bins were full lol (we started out with quite a few). But we did put them all in bins later that day.
She had a lot of Turkish type of rugs
Wow,fascinating collection of books and trinkets, what are you going to do with them all ? Love to you both K🇬🇧❤️
Thank you! We’re still in the process of organizing everything. We’ll keep a few favorite items and then hope to open our Etsy shop soon when we can find the time to get it all set up 😊
Can’t wait to see the finished project. Many blessings. But why clean that horrible mess in a white tee shirt? Lol
Stupid question
Do you have a link to your esty page please loving all your amazing finds
Hi, thank you! We were hoping to have our Etsy shop up by now buys it’s still a work in progress 😊 When it’s ready we’ll be on Etsy as @CicadaAndCo
I had to see what she seen because she will see them no more
even as my eyes filled with water.
What a beautiful way to express your feelings.😊
SHE LEFT A TON OF EPHEMERA BEHIND. I WOULD GOGGLE FRENCH EPHEMERA TO CHECK ON THE VALUE.
Do you have any idea how old Marie is?
Any chance she would have been a piano teacher...I thought I saw some John Thompson books amongst the music books?
Why was the house vacant and unkept for so long?
The house had actually only been vacant one month when we found it, and then a few more months until we were able to purchase it.
Was Marie a piano teacher?
With the dates, in most countries they will be typed day, month and then year. Eg 3rd March 2024 unlike the American way.😊
Have y’all had a yard sale?
Yes
The Pethericks ( utube) are in the process of building a library in france, Billy may be very interested.
You can get rid of the smell of mold by dusting the pages with talc or baby powder.
How old is Marie?
Sad books aren't worth anything anymore when they should be persevered.
Actually there are quite a few people who collect books ☺️ just takes the right place to put them up as for sale: eBay/etsy so on. People do value books ☺️ just like vhs tapes and cassettes and so on
@@typy0107 I agree, depends on the books, the condition, the rarity etc.
I am interested in the french books
Question? Did she was married and kinds
No, she was not married and has no children.
I have be the exact red Christmas Carol book with the little girl on the front I just loved looking at all the beautiful illustrations. I hope it’s the among my music 🎼 and my sister didn’t appropriate it.
People hide money etc everywhere and in everything

You can turn the subtitles on in your settings 😊
If subtitles are the same as captions, the person presenting the video must enable it in their settings on TH-cam for people to be able to use. (I set up the LIVE for our church service and learned how to do this last year when we had a family who had a member who was deaf attending the church.) I really enjoy your videos but do not always enjoy listening to the music in the background so normally watch with no sound. This house is very interesting! Have fun cleaning it out! I am sure you will be glad when the smell is done do you won’t have to wear those breathing masks!
Thank you! We do have them enabled in our videos. I'm not sure why they aren't working on this one, but we'll look into it.@@conniesoares157
The book at 5.59 is The art of love! Could you hold them still a little longer?
In case you have not seen a post about this since you posted this message…You can slow down the playback speed of the video by touching the settings cog that is on the top right side of the video and slow it down to .25…sometimes I slow down to be able to understand words said, but note it also slows down the music sounds and that can be weird too.
Have you reached out to Alex from curiosity inc?
No but we love his channel!
He's in Canada, they're in Florida -- pretty far to go!
Childrens
Is this woman still alive
Do either of you play the piano , maybe you should learn .
Lenox is worth nothing these days…
Rat infested nothing should be sold from that house!
The music is annoying
This video is all about the images, we don’t say much, so it’s a great one to watch in mute if you prefer no music 😊 thanks for watching!
I didn't catch jup with you until April 9. I am fastenated with your energy. My husband and I would do something like this if we were 40 years younger. We are now 80 and 77. The stairs would get us. Keep up the great work.❤
