  • Join us as we start to cleanup the garage and discover more antiques! We sort through an antique trunk and then Hal begins to setup his tools and workshop in our new garage. There are several holes in the garage roof that must be navigated.

In the cardboard box you have a piano shawl. It did look like silk.

Nice job on the roof, that was a lot of work for sure. 🥵 I was wondering if you could replant the small roof trees, too? 🤔 I just love the private tropical jungle feel that property has surrounding that old home. Maybe a couple of GoPros with the head & or neck straps might be easier to work with in the near future? JAT💭😅

Au Printemps is (or maybe was) a large department store I visited in Paris in 1962. Au Printemps means In the Springtime

The fabric in the Au Printemps bag could be antique linen. That'd be a find if so.😊

I looked up 'Sun Bank' and it's still around in Miami, although now it's called 'Sun Trust Bank'. Maybe all of Marie's jewelry, gold and money are still inside those safety deposit boxes!

Cleaning the roof was a scary job and overwhelming. I'm glad it was your camera falling not you, you have a lot of courage to tackle all that work. In the end it looked good, wishing you well replacing the damaged wood. Looking foward to your next video.

Lovely looking at all the laces. The large gold piece that came from the trunk looks like Chantilly lace. Some other pieces are hand made bobbin lace. The beautiful silk piece with fringing on from the cardboard box looks like the silk shawls they would have draped over the baby grand piano. What an interesting set of historical textiles. Very pretty. Don't wash them in lemon juice . It's far to acidic. Use something more gentle like a soak in wool detergent . Just a good soak & handwash is enough for these delicate items. Let them air dry only. No tumble driers.

Some of those pieces from the box of lace are items worn on women’s heads for church or other religious events. The more delicate roundish ones are the pieces I’m referring to. My grandmothers worn them for church

I purchased a lot of lace from an estate sale. It had a similar look to yours. To clean them, I soaked them in a storage container filled about 4 inches with cool water and powder oxyclean. I left them for about 6 hours or so, swishing them lightly every so often. Rinse them with a delicate spray of cool water. After I rinsed them I lay them flat on dry towels to get the heavy water out. Then dry them flat on a sweater drying rack. It worked beautifully, though some stains could not be removed.

I crochet, and I am amazed and the workmanship of the pieces. They take so much time, that if the item wears out, or if you are changing the curtains or bedding, you take it off so it can be used on another piece of clothing, or whatever.

Make a key wind chime. Its another piece of the prior owner that will be there. Also save the TWA luggage tag. There are a lot of vintage airline collectors. And please PLEASE mention to Marie's guardians about finding safety deposit keys. Although those might be old, Marie might have a safety deposit box at a current bank that might have some valuables in it or needed paperwork. Also love love LOVE the doilies!!!

It gives them content for their own channels.
