Wow - nice find on the gate keys! I love those little "Quies" tins, they're so cute. Curious, I googled it - came up with they are ear plugs but also found a listing on Etsy for Quies tin Paris, metal all silver one. All grandmas had "button boxes". I used to sort through my grandma's box when I was little, I'm 73. All that sewing stuff will probably sell when you have an Estate Sale. I'm really surprised the rats didn't discover the thread & yarn cabinet. A few good finds for the "Case Marie Trinket Box" to honor her memory or to display in a shadow box frame. That will be a great little writing/reading room. It would be really nice to have the curved windows exposed and fitted with glass. Was good to hear you have an Etsy Shop, great place for all the vintage trinkets. Can't wait for it to open so I can view the treasures. I got "dibs" on one of the "Quies Tins" Thank you.
We bought a 1950 Florida Bungalow in 2014, same condition, same rats, also had squirrels, raccoons etc living in house. Took us five years to renovate and it was the most fun we have ever had. Have no plans to ever move. PS We had a closed in porch like that and opened it up again so we can sit out there. It’s great.
I have just binged watched all of your vlogs. All I can say I’d wow, your house is beautiful and I can see it’s going to be a very happy home,as you are both adorable and have gorgeous pets. I am from the UK, my husband and I renovated a near derelict 200 year old cob cottage, it took us 17 years to have it totally renovated. We didn’t have any loans,so we had to save a bit to do a bit. We did all the renovations ourselves apart from a builder building an extension, but we did all the footings, a plumber and electrician although my husband did the majority. We were so happy when we finished. Our 3 girls had all married, non of them for various reasons wanted children. A year after we finished and within a 5 months period we had 2 grand babies and a ready made 2.5 year old girl. Unfortunately when the kids visited us,the house became uncomfortably too small,so we had to sell up and buy a bigger property. 😢 But we have the most amazing family so where we now live suits us all. I will follow you through your journey xxxK🇬🇧❤️
Since ya'll are in Florida, you might wanna call Al Bladez or JP out to come help you do a yard makeover! The Collaboration will help your channel. Oh boy on the RAT situation! I do not envy you and hope you can eliminate them quickly. I am sure that there are probably more. The house is going to be beautiful when your finished.
Oh my those critters were big. That house is so lucky to be rescued by you. I admire your enthusiasm, to work in such heat must have been almost unbearable. It will be a beautiful home and I look forward to watching what you do. Loved the art supplies and all those old buttons and needles. The previous owner seems to have been so organised. God bless her.
I had a mechanical drawing set in high school in the 1960’s. You were right about the compass. And the lead does go in the hole you thought. There is one attachment that holds ink.
I've enjoyed watching this video, like I have your other TH-cam videos as well. It took me back several years ago when I had to put my dad in a nursing home. I was going through his things and found many letters, cards and pictures that my siblings and I had sent him over the years. There were other things as well. I miss my dad very much. Thanks for the video. I'm looking forward to E 18
I’ve just been binge watched all 16 of your videos and have enjoyed them all immensely. Keep on posting, I have subscribed and looking forward to more adventures on your way to making this house you’re home.
Marie certainly liked cute little boxes. The table looks like it would be cute on a patio. Those are really good sewing scissors andwould cost a lot now.
Greetings from Kent UK 🇬🇧 Wonderful finds…all treasures 🥰 I think that you will find that any ephemera ( paper or otherwise) will sell as job lots, journal makers and paper crafters would trip over themselves for it all. Old doilies too are used to decorate journal covers. Loving your videos and thank you for sharing an in depth look into all the sewing notions….they are bringing back such memories of my mother and grandmother. So looking forward to more finds 🥰🥰🥰x x
Rats 🐀 in wardrobe reminds me of Charles Dickens novel and movie 🎥 Miss Haversham. Very sad seeing the clothes ruined by the rats 🐀 Pest control!!! Love the episode Well done 👍 Cheers 🥂 Australia 🇦🇺 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I would absolutely love most of that sewing stuff. I collect old sewing buttons and notions. Maybe turn that room back into a porch. Bring it back to the original meaning. You can go to the city offices and the historical society and get the original plans for your home.
A lovely collection of treasures ❤I would buy a box frame and put the items in there and display in the craft room as a memory of what the room was used for by the previous owner therefore keeping the house and some of the treasures together it has a story to tell ❤❤
What a wonder of treasures you are uncovering, if only you new half of the stories of some of the things you are finding. The mistress of the Casa Maria seems to have been well travelled and learned. She must have been a wonder in her younger years.
Hi from upstate New York, love following you on this adventure! It will be worth it and love your positivity and humor as you go along. Looking forward to every video❤. I’m 65+, have sewn since I was very young and recognize all of the sewing notions and still have and use mine. It looks like at one time Marie may have relaxed out there and spent time sewing as there is so much natural light with all the windows. I would love a craft room like that!
Thank you so much! I think you’re right, it’s a lovely light-filled little room 😊 We’re glad to have you along for the journey, and we’ll have another video gif you soon!
Boy there sure is some nifty stuff in that house! (Other than the rats, spiders, and dust!) I especially like some of the furniture, i think some of it will be really beautiful refinish or painted. Excited for your progress. Hummm, that one sketch that looked like a little angel, wonder if she could of been sketching a statue that is hidden in the tangled yard???
If the rat traps don’t work check out large sticky traps. I live in an old home that has mice sometimes so I’ve used the sticky rat size traps with great success. Good luck with renovations
I absolutely love vintage haberdashery, sewing and craft items. I have a wonderful collection and dream of finds like this. I’m so excited to follow your journey.
I had a tin like the first button box…I think I got rid of it when I started decluttering a few years ago. Boy is that house full of stuff! Hope you find stuff worth selling to help pay for renovations. The Martin guitar is hopefully worth something too!
Love your videos! I would check all of those buttons for Chanel buttons since the former owner had ties to France. I look forward to your house renovation videos
Hal's rat story gave me a good chuckle! Do you get melancholy going thru all of Marie's treasures? I'm glad you recognize and pay tribute to her and her interesting things.
It is sad sometimes when you realize we are strangers going through someone else's belongings. We do our best to respect her belongings. Marie did have people come gather some of stuff after she left. It's also exciting, she led quite a life!
That wooden box with the lock and two latches looks like an old fashioned Painter's Easel, it would hold paints and supplies when traveling. It made it easier for painters so that they could remember where they went instead of using a camera. Maybe for the 60's or 70's era of travel.
Hello from Melbourne Australia, I am just in ore watching your show, are you able to advise if you know how old Maree is an I love the respect you are showing for her collectables as they were precious to her regards Dolly
Love what you're doing and your passion for this beautiful home. I would so love to have this project. One thing, I do know as much as I love doing things on my own, those RATS! I would contact an exterminator. I hate rats. You two are very brave for dealing with them and pulling stuff out of cabinets. Oh my. I don't have that in me to do that. I am so afraid of mice, let alone big ole rats. Love your home and am looking forward to your progress.

Old lighters were made to keep forever. Those flints would have replaced the one that had worn down on the lighter you found. My daddy used to use a real lighter before the disposable ones became popular.
I love seeing the treasures you find I guess you have to take the rats with the good stuff you guys seem so calm about it all I guess because your happy its going to be a fantastic house when your done!
So many sewing notions! I have mine, my mom’s, and my grandmothers’. No family member will want any of it. Grandma’s Singer Featherweight machine would sell to a quilter.
That is a drafting compass set for drawing with ink, as in using an ink well. One would open or close the points to make the lines wider or narrower. It didn’t look like those would have been used for lead to me. (32 years drafting instructor)
On the compass you found, they are measuring compass's. if you take a closer look there will extension arms that fit it the holes on the main piece. Those look very old and can worth some thing to a collector. I have some but the are not as old as the one's you got there.

You can set the compass two the setting of the map, and use it to see how far on place is from another place on the map with that type of compass. My grandmother lived to 93 and her mother came to Oregon as a three year old in a wagon train. She grew up to have 11 kids and some settled in areas that still bear their names. Buttons are history.
I wonder if that sewing room was a covered porch with archways? That would certainly be a very cool restoration to have the vaulted windows for it, rather than the rectangular addons.
Those mens felt fedora hats are worth quite a lot of money. A thing of days gone past. This house is so interesting. A huge time capsule of social history. I wonder if she was in Paris during the occupation? She's clearly had money looking at the designer handbags . I hope not too many went in the bin. They can be cleaned & restored very easily.
We know she was in France during the occupation, but unsure if it was Paris. That would be an amazing story. We're cleaning all we can to save the items, but time will tell. Thanks for watching!
Some of those tools do look like a compass, but I am wondering if one or two might possibly be a measurement tool called a divider. It is similar to a compass but has a point on both sides.
Curiosity about the Quies box sent me on a short chase. Wax ear plug box from 1940s. Said plastic but it could be celluloid...(?) The zipper box could have some value. Did the paper shell have needles inside?
In the red kit is absolutely drawing tools.....similar to a geometry set but much more .... I have my grandfathers set but in a wood box not a velvet case....likely from early 1900's.

The sewing items was a huge score in my book. Vintage boxes as well.
We agree!!

In the red kit is absolutely drawing tools.....similar to a geometry set but much more .... I have my grandfathers set but in a wood box not a velvet case....likely from early 1900's.
Very cool, thank you!
She has just about the same collection, stored in a very similar way as I do!
Kindred spirits!
I’m watching from Wisconsin, it’s 19 degrees and with the wind chill it feels like 11 degrees. I wish I was in Florida lol
Thanks so much for watching. The heat definitely slowed us down.
I love Al Bladz. If he would collaborate with y’all it would be awesome. I lived in St Petersburg for too long
We'll reach out. However, we do plan to keep a lot of it wooded with ferns. I don't like to cut grass. lol
