  • THE LITTLE AMR500 IS ACTUALLY ON THE DEDICATED DYNO IN SWEDEN (KENNE BELL DYNO), AND BEING TESTED AS WE SPEAK. I WILL HAVE A FULL VIDEO UP ON THE RESULTS. IT SHOULD BE TESTED AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT BOOST AND RPM RANGES AND WE SHOULD GET POWER CONSUMPTION, AIRFLOW AND DISCHARGE TEMPS AT DIFFERENT BLOWER SPEEDS AND BOOST LEVELS. NO DATA YET-BUT I WAS EXCITED ABOUT SEEING IT ON THE DYNO.

    I would like to see what 2 AMR-500 Supercharger on a VW beetle would do on a Dyno machine and see what kind of numbers it would make.

    The results will prove interesting. I was thinking Two on a Corvair. But for texting i like yo see it put on sn austin mini engine. 3 stages. Original and then with the Double overhead cam BMW motorcycle head and then boost that setup. Fun fun fun.

    what about spinning it off the live axle of like a gokart lets say you could size pullies and would only create the boost while rolling??????? think about it.

    I'm really curious as to where you take this. I had one of these on a subaru ea82 (1.8L) sticking out of the hood with a weber on top. Had about 7psi, it worked good! Still slow, but it was better! Until the boost found its way to the crank case.. the sound was awesome. now its a cammed ej22 (2.2L)and it blows the doors off the old blown ea82. At one point I was going to put it on my geo, but for fuel economy reasons I'm leaning torwds a turbo on that. So I'd love so see what you come up with!

      I had a hatch back 1.6 and part time 4wd Would loved a ej22 and awd !

      @@eflanagan1921 I have it in an 86 GL wagon. The 4wd high/low is great, I dont think I would want to trade it for awd. But the 4wd trans are only good for around 180hp "they" claim so if you have real power it might be a good way to go. Im always in 4wd low, it will still do 70!

      There are awesome turbos out for that small displacement. Thats cool amr500 made 7psi on your one configuration.

      Im about to slap one on my ea82, do you have pictures somewhere on how you did it?

    • @alexsmith5549
      @alexsmith5549 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Ghandisgarage I do somewhere. I basically modified a factory intake manifold and bolted it down, with weber on top. Had a friend machine a couple pulleys for me so I could get the right size. It was the smallest one that would physically fit lol. Might get a few lbs with the included pulley they come with. I was going to run a side draft weber on the next version, was debating on dual amr500 with dual side drafts but it never happened. The cammed ej22 on megasquirt makes more power, but doesn't sound as cool or look as outlandish

    Stupid question what works better? You mentioned compound boost system. So is it better to boost from the turbo into the blower or the blower into turbo inlet? I just honestly don't know what has more power potential?

    • @richardholdener1727
      @richardholdener1727  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      supercharge the na motor, then turbo through the blower

    • @johndelta00
      @johndelta00 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That would be sick to see this blower getting compound boost.

    How I think about how to size a blower AKA ROOTS and or SCREW maybe a ROTARY VANE positive displacement is to compute the air-flow through the engine @100% and the blower must produce more air-flow that the engine at that rpm --
    350X6000 RPM= 2,1000,000 / 3456=608 CFM
    So to make boost the blower must exceed the 608 cfm that the engine requires to make N/A power

    • @richardholdener1727
      @richardholdener1727  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      we use the basic formula that it takes near 1.5 cfm to make 1 hp

    • @wizardshome9686
      @wizardshome9686 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richardholdener1727 - So you're saying that if at 6000 rpm the engine wants 608 cfm it takes 1.5 cfm from the blower to make the extra power you want so the blower has to produce 912 cfm to make 1bhp more then it would N/A?

    I would like to know how much power a turbo robs from exhaust pressure. You could test the same way you did on the blower.

    • @richardholdener1727
      @richardholdener1727  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you can't test that way

    • @triplestangman
      @triplestangman 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @richardholdener1727 I disagree you simply install turbo install a restriction to build boost and measure power lost from previous run. you can measure how much power is lost from turbo headers first and then subsequent levels of boost and how much that restriction robs power

    These have been tried on air cooled VW Beetle engines that produced 50 HP stock and 90 HP with the blower and a few upgrades. You can make at least 120 HP with a turbo on the same engine. Really, these are to small for just about anything except quads.
