    It's nice to see you almost at 300K Richard. ✔️🥝. I'm often late due to my southern Truck loading schedule. The 9" deck 215 Buick and Rover 3.5 had 3.5" pistons sizes, shared with the the 200 V6 and large journal SBC 267 at 3.5 inches bore, without the 3.48 stroke. The BOP,/.Rover were 1.92 compression height, the Chev, 1.563". Like Clay Smith Cams 183, the early BOP based engines in Formula 1 used the 2.375 inch stroke crank, like the Repco Brabham engines, with similar to Daimler Majestic 4.5 liter 6.25" conrods and they moved to 350 Chev type 1.5625" tall pistons, which was what the 377 stroker Chapperals and drag car SBC's were starting to use. These engine configurations are great engine to play with in Supercharged form....pretty hard to break. The 72, 73, 74 Smokey Yunic Indianapolis Turbo 209 SBC was 3.74 by 2.375 I think.

    Interesting 3.0L engine. Very cool

    I wonder if 6.0 @5000 rpm needs as much cylinder head as a 3.0 @10k rpm. Assuming you can get the pushrods and rocker/spring to keep up

    I ran my speedway motor with pistons in backwards and it definitely revved better ! but it was new pistons pretty regular, lots of wear one the skirts

    Thanks Richard , I learnt a lot about boost today !

    Nice way to use a block with some damage, sleeve it and race it ! It would be oversquare by a bit and long rods can bring problems but the do have good leverage on the crank

    Can almost guarantee it is a sleeved block and probably one of those short deck racing blocks. 30 years ago we ran an offshore UIM big block that was 354 ci and it was sleeved block making 1100 hp.

    In regards to this 3.0L engine, Is this the same class that Keith Dorton built his Boneville short stroke SBC (minus 2 pistons/rods) ProCharged V6 for ? I need to find the video. It's now a few years+ old, but it was essentially a neutered SBC turned into a V6.

      @joeyjojojr.shabadoo915 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I found 2 different Dorton Vids with Boneville builds, 1 being a 260cid SB2 and the other being the SB2 based custom V6 (with 2 dead holes and custom balancing).
      Search for "A Thousand Horsepower on Just 260 Cubic Inches!" ......OR...... "NASCAR Chevy SB2 V8 Turned Into a Racing V6!?" .
      Both videos are hosted on the Horsepower Monster channel.

    Watched a video about a year ago 350 and block the back two cylinders off so they can race in a 6-cylinder class. May have been on this channel??

      @@jamiejenkins5643 that's what a 4.3 Chevy V6 is. 2 cyls removed from a 350. I suppose there is more head support for a SBC block but that's a bunch of weight to be hauling around with 2 dead holes.

    So many pluses and minuses to a longer rod , its horses for courses, I watched a baby stroked speedway car win all night ! came of the corner real hard!

      power off a corner wasn't likely rod ratio

    Hey Richard, how are you? Hey I just have a very quick question if thats allowed. Will Cleaning up the casting flash on a set of aluminum heads be beneficial? Thanks, by the way you told me to rejet my 750 cam carb, man you were right on it runs so well I bought a set of Brodix 1k 180 heads the ones in question. Can’t wait for more videos!

      @richardholdener1727  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are asking about porting the heads, that can definitely help. If you are asking about just making it smooth-that would be minimal

    I would imagine the bore would be as close to the stock size as they can get it so it doesnt shroud the valves to much

  • @markcrockford9679
    @markcrockford9679 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You run into charge shear when the rod gets to long

    Richard , do you think an iron head would hold the boost better than an ally head ?

      @richardholdener1727  หลายเดือนก่อน

      we did 1543 hp so far with stock 6.0L rods, not sure on 4.8L rods-but we did 1200+ hp with gen 3 4.8l rods

    I'll take the mall block over the LS all day at that size motor

    • @jasonbirch1182
      @jasonbirch1182 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Why?

    • @markcrockford9679
      @markcrockford9679 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @jasonbirch1182 LS is an ugly motor , so much development and depth of parts for a small block, I don't thinkan LS has revealed all its faults yet and I think that in the right hands the mouse is just as capable as an LS of making the power and I have trouble accepting the open deck is as stout as a closed deck and if you put all those electronic sensors and computer control and injection on a mouse It will a stout piece that your granddads will inherit and go real nice , plus I haven't had a good look at an LS to see what I like about the block n crank

    • @richardholdener1727
      @richardholdener1727  หลายเดือนก่อน

      couple of things-I like the SBC and you can choose the one you want but-the LS doesn't have an open deck and has been shown to have superior block strength (stock to stock). Adding electronic EFI to the small block (which it had from the early 80s) won't change the power. The LS was in production and race heavily for over 25 years so all the faults are known.
