A stunning car, with such an alluring design and quality surpassing the Germans. Bravo Peugeot, truly next level!
Living the international motoring journalist dream Nobby! Well done!
I'm glad I didn't wait around for this, after renting a diesel 3008 a couple of years ago and thinking that the next gen EV of it would be compelling. I bought an Enyaq instead (Nobby's review helped!) and it rides with poise, maintains a high roofline in the cargo area and has a rear wiper, which has proven invaluable in northern France. Peugeot take note - Hyundai capitulated and will be making a rear wiper available on the Ioniq 5.
I have a 2018 model 3008 and I'm glad I skipped the following upgrade, because this 2024 model is gorgeous inside and out. I do actually think the front could be a bit more interesting, but overall, I really like the design. I've also not really been a fan of these wrap around screens, but Peugeot makes it work really well. Instead of a minimalistic design where a screen protrudes out of an otherwise boring interior, Peugeot creates a very interesting cockpit with an interesting large screen that intergrates well. I particularly like that fact that the screen floats and has the ambient lighting behind it.
I do wish some piano key design was more obvious because it has become a real Peugeot hallmark, but...I still like what they have done with the lower buttons. The fabric around the doors, dash and center console is really nice. I'm in New Zealand, so I have no idea when it will arrive here...or even if it ever will? The 408 did not arrive here and I had considered upgrading to that, if it did. Lets see if this one comes here. The 3008's have sold fairly well in NZ, so they should bring the upgrade here.
5008 plugin interest me. I don't know when it will come. New outlander phev is landing soon to Europe with battery upgraded even bigger from 20kwh currently sold elsewhere.
I have the PHEV version on this one. The range dropped dramatically on that car. It made me charge it every single use because running it on its petrol engine alone is very thirsty. I ended up with a staggering electricity bills. So I traded up with a Tiguan R Line 2.0 TDI and to my surprise I managed to save €1000 off of my electricity bills! Apparently my 2.0 TDI is far more economical to run than PHEVs.😂
You didn’t have this car though?
@@NobbyOnCars Well it’s same in all EVs. Range degradation especially in winters. They should stop advertising the max range because in real world driving is way lower than that.
@@NobbyOnCarsThey advertised 60 kms range. But I only got 15 kms.😂 I don’t get that with Diesel. I get what I paid for. Even more efficient as I go the distance. I went to Peugeot to address the range drop. They blamed me for my driving style for the it despite of being so gentle with the pedal.
@@pinkypoohable 15kms seems way too low but if you do big miles, electric isn’t necessarily for you so maybe you were sold the wrong car to begin with.
Manufacturers seem to have given up trying to cut battery or vehicle weight which would really help range and instead are just installing massive batteries. The replacement cost on the small screen for my old C4 picasso is £700 plus fitting god knows how much they’d want for this one!
To be honest it is "easier" to chuck in a large battery than to develop a "light" EV that has a balance of good range and efficiency.
Nice work Nobby. Any idea if the petrol version will launch alongside the EV version
MHEV yes PHEV after
Not found any video of rhd version yet. I wonder where gear shifter will be positioned.
Can’t imagine there’s any just yet.
Hi Nobby. Just a little thing but when you are talking about something, like the seat base and wireless charging the editing goes somewhere else. Bit odd i find. Why o why are manufacturers not putting rear screen wipers on cars. I cannot believe they think people don’t want them. Grrr. Also, those wheels. Who, in Peugeot though that was a good idea. Would put me off for sure. Indicator sounded loud. Did you think so? Keep up the good work. Always enjoy your reviews 😊
Lovely interior (and review) but wont all that cloth on the dash be impossible to clean in the event of food or liquid stains?
Good question - it’s quite a durable texture and would be wipeable but I’m not sure how it would hold up to greasy finger marks from food etc
Only noticed how the kerrr was parked, from the drone shot there at end - you looked so small when you were looking at the boot, early in the video! And was saying - Christ, me oul dog will break his neck trying to jump into that !!! Even so, it’s still quite high - noticed while watching Derek’s vid earlier. Wonder will they get that battery into the 308? Drove an Astra at Derek’s EV show last week - very nicely put together machine - now if Stellantis put that 73kWh battery into the Astra - that would be a deadly machine.
I don’t think they will put that battery in them to be honest. The boot is damn high for a dog to jump I think! Be a good video to try though :)
Guess you’re right about the battery. Oh - and STLA said like a northern SDLP - yep - I found that funny - so I dad!
It's a lovely design but I won't be driving one with those wheels. Good review as always.
Would like to see other ones for sure
Nobby, do you have to follow the English and put an "r" in Peugeot?
the 'official' range is like 326 miles.. what kind of miles did you actually get per charge?
This is an international launch of a car, you drive it for a few hours at most. Won’t know what it’s really like until I have it for a week in Ireland.
To me the steering wheel always feels too low on peugeots, and then some I can't see the dash because the top of the steering wheel is oddly placed. I wouldn't buy one due to that but I have to say it's a good looking car.
Had a 208 for a week last year and found that I got used to it… and even liked it! That was a surprise.
Agree. My son is learning to drive. His instructor has a 208. My son hates it. Just can't get the seating position right. Much prefer his mums Mazda 2 which he finds perfect.
@@markl4670 it's like you are driving with the steering wheel around your knees . It's hard to understand how anyone likes it. 😂
Too expensive, I will stick to petrol where I can go from empty to full in around 90 seconds by putting a liquid in it.
That’s fine. I choose electric mainly to reduce my carbon footprint and fine particle emissions, but secondly because they are fun to drive.
I wonder how much you can get for the wheels on ebay.
😂
Does this new 3008 have autohold?
Not that I noticed actually - need to double check
Fine looking car but perhaps they have they priced themselves out of the customer cohort that the previous version enjoyed?
And we know the handbrake works.
Why would you drive a boat/submarine on the road?
Just another observation, after watching several new car reports recently, is the amount of car manufactures useing BLACK headlinning!! Why, it makes for a much darker interior. What was wrong with the white or cream they used to use for years & years!
Not ‘sporty’ enough ☺️
Some good elements in this car but feels half way. That is how most EVs are until they mature. I feel more optimistic for future of French cars now.
A 700km version might then get 500km under normal driving and weather conditions.
Those indicators sound a tad loud and annoying?
They are!
They sound like a really fast game of Pong!
I was disappointed with the coupe shape, it looks too extreme to my eye. They should have stuck with the old traditional SUV shape. Yeah I know not as aero and less range but the 96kwh battery (massive!) could take it
700 KMS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Not a chance
490km then? That's would be ok
Values of EV's are plummeting.
I know people who are desperately trying to get rid of these things, after being stung.
Why not just say it as it is?
Is it as bumpy as a Model Y, Nobby?
I don’t necessarily think there’s a crash in the EV market, I think it’s more of a price adjustment. They were all ridiculously priced at first but all the Chinese competition is helping to bring down the prices. No harm.
Why buy a new car if you’re worried about depreciation? Ev or not ..?
Worth the weight!? *wait*😋
Yeah eh it’s pun on the battery and waiting for the car to be made….
@@NobbyOnCarswell saved! Oh and the reason for more pedestrian deaths is because drivers are fidgeting with touch screens! Allegedly! 😮
Like all overpriced EVs, if you really really want one, wait a year or two and the depreciation will make it a lot more affordable.
Evening mate but price no thanks
😂
0:28 What a silly question . that size EV should have as a standard 90kWh battery and real long range should have 110kWh to offer real life range 350 mile
Not everyone wants to pay for that/carry that much weight. If you want that, buy a luxury brand.
Gets 280 miles takes 9 hours to charge a diesel 3008 gets over 500 miles and takes 2 minutes to fill the tank new doesnt always mean better it would seem
Well the 9 hours point is while you’re sleeping, DC charging is the direct comparison
Those wheels are absolute disgust.
These kind of vehicles have 0 driving pleasure... stick to the old ones.
Dreadful looking thing. Who designed it, Stevie Wonder?!
Love my Peugeots but this looks awful…
Subjective
Dam i love it. Bold
