What videos never tell you is what a gargantuan pain in the ass Blender is when you actually try and use it. For every one of those steps he mentions, just imagine ten migraines when Blender just won't do what he says because someone changed it or moved the controls or deleted something, or it's just being evil that day.
Bill Gates really made a stupid mistake there lol I am a very lazy person, let me tell you something: Often, when i code "hard" stuff, i make it the lazy easy way. In the end, my code is ugly, hard to read, has alot of bugs and is slow, BUT it works somehow. Easy way != good way.
This is literally what i have to deal with on a daily basis, im a car technician and usually i get costumers who have been tryna fix their car for over 6 months with no success, but once i do it in 15 mins and charge them for my service, they tend to complain and say ''that's over priced, its just a wire..''.

In Dutch there is a saying which would translate to 'laziness creates inventiveness' (luiheid maakt vindingrijk). I'm always amazed by how I keep finding peers online who completely overshadow me in something I once considered my expertise ;)

Hahaha, yeah! I did a little experimentation after posting this, and using a big picture of a crowd, and just snagging textures from random folks from it, was a really quick way to get a ton of variation (and help all the values kind of match)
@@IanHubert2 using contrasting colors has its place like in a laboratory or some scifi workplace with lots of people and all wearing the same uniform, for normal crowds I'd keep it to natural cloth tones or maybe do some node magic with Object info>random node and shifting the texture hue or you can weight the number of instances of every mesh in a collection for particles, so keep the number low for eye catching colors.

Frickin Crazy Awesome! Blender is definitely going to be the de facto standard throughout the world -- ONLY because talented, conscientious people built this for Users, and to be FREE from corporate greediness.
use free3d.com to get a simple base mesh, waaaay faster and probably better quality. Just don't get something too high poly if you're doing a large scene, but there's all kind of options. Makehuman is also a good free software for modeling people and getting clothes and textures easily with a lot of customization. Wouldn't try and do like a CG character in it, but for background movement, it looks pretty photorealistic.
