Your remarks about her laryngeal control and vibrato were on point There are some surprises to be found in Angelina's vibrato in general, such as speed adjustments to fit the song and the unusual intervals she sometimes uses. I'm sure a veteran like you wouldn't have missed the influence of Billie Holiday on this effort, and indeed on Angelina's entire sound. Fantastic reaction; it's so good to have you back!

We love it when you get nerdy about Angelina.🙂 As others said her judges cut when she was 7 on NGT is a capella, and haunting. It would also ba a good reaction. Around May 5th 2023, Angelina will drop her 1st official single from RR. Please buy and react to it. She graduates high school this month and she's 17 right now. (Also her album "It's Magic" she recorded at 11 is amazing, you should get it and react to each song on it 🙏❤.)

I believe we heard her voice through a camera phone.
We did. The album version syncs right over it really, easy peasy, the other video is of the studio album version heard through that microphone I'd have to assume and is certainly to die for. I'd prefer that video, everyone deserves a microphone, like she said in a sense, people sing for the tools they are using, but I like that sometimes it's this one for my own sake.
Although the final version was based mostly on this 1st take, she did make a minor mistake with the lyrics, so a 2nd take was needed to fix that, but usually only 1 take is necessary for her. This song on her album, It's Magic" is my favorite, along with It's a Man's World. Both are extraordinary & the fact that she recorded it when she was 11yo is incomprehensible.
I go back and forth on whether this is phone mic or a feed from the board. I think I hear some proximity effects and breathing detail that would indicate we're hearing her voice through the studio mic, but I just can't tell for sure. One thing that's certain is that there are important differences in the bridge section between this take and the album vocal. There were definitely some overdubs, but most of this take survived to the final mix.
Not a camera _phone_ , I think. Just a video camera. Same kind of built-in mic, though, probably. (And, yes, the audio here is the ambient room sound picked up by the camera mic. You can hear the sound of the orchestra [military band] seeping in from the adjacent room.) AFAIR, when the device used by Mery has been visible in videos (including in TV segments), I think it has always [or almost always?] been a small consumer-grade video camera, not a cell phone. OTOH, when Sara is seen recording something, I think it has tended to be a cell phone. I haven't done a detailed analysis of this, though, so I could be "overstating" things. (Interestingly, in one video I recall, Sara starts out as the cameraperson but then gives the camera to Mery and begins to record with a cell phone.)

Angelina pays definite tribute to Billie Holiday here, Angelina’s greatest influence. But we still get Angelina’s personalized take on a classic. Her ability to give us perfection for this genre at 11 years old is really hard to understand, but the great thing about this video is that we can watch her, live, creating this one-take masterpiece that puts us back in the 1940’s. I know your reactions to Angelina are limited, but watch more and you will understand why many of us believe she’s the best singer we’ve ever heard.

Could you 'do' Angelina singing this song at the age of 7years, its the judges cut during Norways got Talent.. she sings acapella and I think it sounds divine. It also is very much like this version she did when she's 12 I think. Thankyou for your reaction..I love your laugh as well as your knowledge.
According to the CD liner notes (as well as a December 2017 _Aftenposten_ article), the album was recorded in November 2017 (reportedly in a mere two days), when Angelina was 11. Oh, and BTW, the NGT performance was recorded on 2014-02-07 (based on an article about one of the other contestants, as well as some other evidence), so she was already 8 for that one.
I love your analysis. Thank you so much for the education. Angelina Jordan blows me away, and I remember her singing this same song a cappella at age 7/8 for Norway's Got Talent, an elimination round for the judges. I was amazed then, and so happy to see her doing this for an album. Angelina has my heart. A hug to you from this Grandma Ellen. I'm out for the night.

Thank you Tina one of my favourite vocals ever by anyone by my favourite singer she is just incomparable, timeless , and beautiful 11 yrs old here what she will give to the world is beyond anything that has been she is a master story teller and a depth of feeling that is straight from the pure heart of her being she impacts people in a way that is more than just singing . Simply Divine 💗.
She recording for the It's Magic album a collaboration of the Norway Armed Forces Staff Band and AJ. When it was released she was 12 and there was a concert to celebrate it.

Very good analysis, poor background sounds (hissing, music, env.). Not sure if for copyright or lack of recording environment, but your analysis and demonstration deserves bettter IMO.
