Sebs, I’ll only speak for myself when I say, I have never encountered another vocalist that has had the overwhelming and profound affect on me that Angelina has. I have come to deeply respect, admire and adore and even love everything about Angelina. She is one of the finest human beings walking this planet. She is a gift to mankind that must be cherished and protected.
The world would be a far better place if we all emulate the kind of outstanding and loving person Angelina is. I have no doubt that she is a divinely gifted angel from on high. It explains her other worldly talents. She is incomparable. I know of no other female vocalist that has Angelina’s unique lower register and hyper sensitive intuition. My life has been enriched since I discovered Angelina nearly three years ago. I never go a day without listening to this wonderful angel sing.

"I'm a Fool To Want You" was introduced by the great Frank Sinatra, first in 1950, on Columbia Records, a beautiful Alex Stordahl accompaniment, then Sinatra recorded it again, on Capitol Records, in a haunting, yet more restrained version.
Oddly enough, Billie Holiday made it hugely famous by recording it with Ray Ellis and his Orchestra in one of her last recording sessions. Though her voice has the scars of time and a difficult life in it, hers is a performance to give you shivers.
You must experience all of these, then talk about this beautifully gifted girl who has yet to experience the very essence of the materials' depth. I would love to hear Angelina sing the song when she is slightly more mature.

  • @mldkenny

Anyone singing the legendary Billie Holiday songs has to be brave, very brave, Andra Day ( Rise up fame ) in 2021 film The United States vs Billie Holiday did an amazing job and such a great film, Diana Ross did it in 1972 in Lady Sings the Blues, truly brilliant, but Angelina just has that style that takes it to a new level, a spiritual dimension. She is destined to be one of the All Time Greats for sure. Loving your dedication and reactions.

if this was what you were exposed too during your young life much of jazz, music of these eras you would be influenced to the greats such as Ella, Billie H etc. Two things happened here... born with her unique sound (VOICE), her parenting with much exposure to many art forms and she just sings like liquid gold, She holds me captive to a storey of each song, even when i am not a fan of the song it just becomes easy to appreciate her story to tell. I have never gotten goose bumps and reduced to tears by anyone until i came across this babe.

Angelina started singing at the age of 6 in the studio, she was born on January 10, 2006 in Norway, she won the Norvege got talent at the age of 7, she wrote a book at the age of 6. She plays the piano, the guitar, she makes her own arrangements and since then she sings jazz, blues, old soul and even hip hop. She has already composed 3 songs, music and lyrics arrangements, and she has made several covers of different singers, she has a unique voice, a perfect control of her voice, runs, belts, riffs and many other musical specificities, she is called the barefoot princess, and it's even the story of her book in which she tells this story, she has already raised 20 million dollars for neglected children, her grandmother is a Norwegian painter, and Angelina, holds a microphone since she was 1 and a half years old, she listened to a lot of jazz, old soul singers, that her grandmother made her listen to because it was what she liked. She makes these covers, she makes them her own and it's beautiful. She was also at Americain got talent the Champions, she sang her version of Bohemian Rapsody by Queen. She is phenomenal, we can't get enough when she sings, she takes us with her in this wonderful world that she tells us, I am 72 years old, and I don't spend a day without listening to her, I've been following her for 4 years. She is a gift from the universe and I'm sure that the universe gave birth to her, so that she could also hear the enchantment of her voice I love you Angelina, thank you for giving us this gift, especially during these difficult years, you know how to soothe those who hear your voice, all of us need in these difficult times, to hear and have moments of peace and love, which you do not fail to offer us each time you sing, Thank you, may God keep you long. xxx from Quebec, Canada and I agree with you 200%.

marielle For someone following her for 4 years, I'd think you would be more informed of your facts. She started singing at around age 3. She won NGT at age 8. She might have started writing her book at age 6, but it wasn't finished nor published until she was 9. She has composed 5 original songs and had 2 written for her. With about 175 songs on YT, she has covered over 80 artists. Her grandma is a notable Iranian painter and poet. Angelina has helped to raise far more than $20 million for underprivileged children and environmental causes.....I don't have the patience to make more corrections. But let me say that posting mis-information benefits no one; except maybe you and your ego.

There is too much to comment about. Angelina has been singing since she was 1 1/2. When she was travelling abroad with her Grandmother who is Persian (as it was then) she saw a girl a little older than she was. She had no shoes. The girl was weighing people for money. Angelina gave the girl her shoes and said that she would never wear shoes again (when performing) until all of the children in the world had shoes. The girl told Angelina that she would pray for her. Angelina wrote a book about it when she was nine years old. She is the youngest published Author in Norway. She now lives in the USA. I am sure that you will receive many more comments and some of mine might be slightly wrong, but that is the gist of it.

Just stop and think about this, who does that? Who in history, in the bible, whatever? When has anyone ever literally given the shoes off their own feet to a needy person? Did Jesus even do that? And that's just the beginning, she then pledges to perform barefoot for the rest of her life, and goes on to raise millions of Euros to benefit the poor. It gives you a sense of the size of this girl's heart, and maybe a clue about why her voice effects us the way it does.

She had an eclectic grandmother who exposed her to the jazz classics when she was in the cradle. It is said, she started to sing along at 1 and half? She also grew up in Norway, where the country encourages early development in the arts(singing, painting, etc.) To cap everything else, she had a supportive and protective family unit. BTW since you have 2 daughters, you ought to see her TH-cam videos of 'Angelina and her baby sister, Juliette'. She sings to, plays with and even tries to teach her how to sing. Great stuff to watch on the side to give you insight on her family relationships. Aloha

HERE ARE ANSWERS TO ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU RAISED! Thank you for your enthusiastic reaction to Angelina.
Norwegian born Angelina began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! She also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy.
She is now 16, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records over a year ago. She is not widely promoted yet, however, as her family has decided to wait until she graduates school, so she has a normal childhood. Here is a link from ages 6 to 16 to all her 167 chronological performances, including five originals.
    m.th-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbYDVnRwObjETfWpXbzbgIO.html
    Why does Angelina sing barefoot?
When she was 6 years old, she was in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes and has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond.
Angelina penetrates hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love.

Sebs little girl is already getting behind the curve, have to start singing Whitney Houston songs at 1.5 years if you are going to keep up. Gotta be In the studio at 6 and performing live at 7. That's partly why she could compete with the best adult singers before she was a teen and outsings anyone singing any similar style at 16, including the jazz greats that inspired her. It is amazing that she has maintained a kind and charitable heart as beautiful or talented young girls so often become entitled and self-centered from all the attention they get.

The lady you caught a glimpse of at the end, Angelina's grandma Mery, is the one who turned her onto Jazz literally from the crib but Angelina stumbled upon a thumbnail of "beautiful lady" Billie Holiday while listening to some cuts on her tablet and felt compelled to to check it out. She has been in love with Billie Holiday's music ever since - especially her laments, it seems. This would be remarkable enough if she were a teenager in Louisiana; so I'm guessing she stood out as somewhat of a curiosity as a toddler in Oslo.
There's a video of Angelina at what looks like her introduction to pre-school in which the class is singing along to typical nursery rhymes. Angelina, on the other hand, sits in silence with a face like she has eaten a salted lemon washed down with vinegar. You can just tell she is thinking, "The hell with this cr*p, break out some Dinah Washington, daddio."

She has adopted Billie's style of singing heartfelt ballads by
incorporating Billie's 'breathy', 'whisper-like' releases and
radically changing 'key' within sentences. It just adds a
mesmerizing quality to the song, aided 'of course' by Angelina's
own personal style mixed in. First off, jazz singers just bring
forth more passionate penetration than any non-jazz singer
could ever hope to do, including great singers like Adele and
Rihanna. I could flip back between Angelina and Billie all day
long, for no other singers reach me as deeply as them.

Angelina is different from any singer I’ve ever heard. She has several unique qualities beyond her amazing voice. As you mentioned, when she sings, you just get lost in the performance. Audiences are stunned into quiet-you don’t know what she’ll do with the next line, and you want to hear it. Also, she delivers lyrics so clearly that you hear them in a way that you never did before. Her musicality is off the charts, as you saw in Bohemian Rhapsody. There are dozens of her songs that will blow you away. If you want to see how musically fearless she is, watch her amazing cover of Billie Jean. She pays tribute to Michael, but it’s 100% Angelina.

I can't speak for others, but I don't watch "reaction videos" for the commentary, I watch for the expressions on the face of the reactor. I want to "see" that they are as in awe and loving it as I was the first time I heard her over 6 years ago. I largely stay away from vocal coaches/voice teachers and those that want to be, because of all the pauses and comments during the video. The older woman you saw at the end is Angelina's maternal Grandmother, Mery Zamani (a child prodigy herself as an artist and poet) introduced Angelina to Jazz at a very young age (2 or 3) and she has loved it ever since. The headpiece that Angelina is wearing and does so in MANY of her concerts, from my understanding is a Spring festival tradition in Norway.

I can understand why you shy away from some vocal coaches, as many concentrate on their cleverness rather than Angelina's performance. However, there are several I rate as worth watching, and I list three of them for your consideration. There are two reactions from each of them.

11 year old Angelina glances up to the heavens before starting to sing, connecting with Billie Holiday who is Angelina's favorite artist. This performance is one of the tracks for her "It's Magic" album, which has been in the top 10 jazz albums at times. I encourage everyone to purchase a copy (I bought two so to keep one unopened). It is available on Amazon and part of the purchase price goes to charity.

From a previous interview, Angelina responded; "Because it is fun to sing for everybody and well...I just love to sing. And this is why our beloved Angelina never gets nervous when performing. She was born for it. I believe that she has taken on so many great artist songs is truly because she just loves singing and feels the music beyond our comprehension.

Psychologists will talk about head and heart as two distinctly different aspects of experience. Angelina's performance skill and amazing voice taps directly into our heart, and pushes the pause button on our head. You're left with an incredibly deep experience based in heart/feeling, and your head/reasoning is simply spinning in a small circle and can only say "wait, what?" You're not alone my friend. Even the most talented vocal coaches that I've seen react to Angelina have trouble explaining the "wait, what?" factor. There's just so much incredibleness about what she does and how she seems to just "be music". She inspires all of us to be better humans through the impact to our heart. What a rare gift she is.

After she sang Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on AGT, Howie commented about how he could not pay attention to anything else around him when she sang. He called her singing hypnotic. I agree. After Bohemian Rhapsody, Simon told her, "I don't think you know how good you are. Really.". You should watch her singing "I Who Have Nothing". This was her first studio recording, when she was 6 years old.

The elderly lady you saw at the end was her grandmother, Meri Zamani, who is a big jazz fan and introduced Angelina to the genre. She soaked it up like a sponge and the rest, as they say, is history. The flowery headgear is her iconic look, along with the white dress (she's changed now she's more grown up). The bare feet comes from a time when she gave her shoes to a poor girl her own age who was barefooted. Angelina swore to always sing barefoot until all children had shoes. Love the reaction. By the way, I recommend A Song For A if you really want to be blown away!

Wonderful reaction to our fantastic little jazz star, Sebs, you're right, listening to her sing is great music therapy. I've always had unlimited admiration for this girl, but when she sings these old jazz songs, it really feels like Billie is standing next to her, it's like they're singing the same chords together. Her warm, husky voice, suspended in her breath and to the rhythm of those fantastic vocal dynamics, has always amazed me, when I see her doing it with an almost embarrassing ease, it's crazy. I also like the nice complicity she has of her with her muse, Grandma Mery, it's nice to see how show her satisfaction with what she is doing. 💛 🧡 ❤️

The "Angelina Effect"....she literally changes your life. Norwegian cultural thing with the hairpiece. Notice it's a bit Christmasy. Not hippies, lol. 18 months old they heard her singing along to Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You. It pretty much started from there. 18 months old, having memorized lyrics, in a different language, singing on pitch, in time, expertly handling a microphone, with 'stage presence' from her crib. If you saw that in your child, I suspect you'd know you had something special on your hands. Prodigy, genius, empath, mature, all wrapped up in a beautiful little package waiting to be opened to the world. None of this was forced on her. Everything she's done was HER desire. Her parents have simply complied with her wishes, while still trying to let her enjoy her childhood and getting her education....

Great reaction Sebs. Billie Holiday is Angelina's favorite jazz singer since she was around 3 years old. It's as if Billie Holiday is reincarnated into this 11-year-old girl. This is one of the songs she recorded for her album " Its Magic", one of the top 10 best jazz albums
You see Angelina's Grandma Mery at the end of the video. She exposed Angelina to Jazz at a very early age (1 to 7 yrs) by playing the Jazz classics like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington plus more.
When she won Norway's Got Talent, she sang 2 Billie Holiday songs, this one, acapella, and "Gloomy Sunday" at age 7. She won by singing Louis Armstrong/ Ella Fitzgerald's Jazz classic "Summertime"
They are not hippies. In Norway Excel a tradition for young girls to wear flowers in their hair. In many of her younger performances she wears Flowers in her hair.
As for not wearing no shoes when she performs, there's an heartwarming story explaining why when she was 6 years old. Andy Schnell has a detailed account of how that occurred
In fact Angelina wrote a book about her counter with the young girl and became Norway's youngest publisher at the age of 9.
Looking forward to many more reactions to Angelina Jordan.

Angelina is pure magic, unique. A music genius and for me one of the best actual female vocalist. She speaks several languages and English is her third language. She plays also several instruments.
Her maternal grandmother is iranian and her maternal grandfather was from Japan. Her father is from Sweden and is a petroleum engineer, who works in Norway. Her mother and uncle, who is her manager were raised in Japan.
She and her younger sister Juliette were born in Norway.
May be you can react to her cover of I’m still holding out for you” or It’s a Man’s World “
    Both are amazing.
If you want to hear her lower register, which is unbelievable go to her cover”How Great Thou Art”. It’s a christian song.

Sebs, great reaction, not to many younger folk can appreciate this music or the fact that a 12 year old girl is performing this Billy Holiday song to perfection that Billy did in 1951. It has been done by many other artists but Angelina grew up listening to these jazz classics as a young child thanks to her Grandma Mery (Iranian Poet/artists seen at end). Grandma exposed her to all these greats in Jazz and there are video's of Angelina as a young child perusing music stores and selecting Jazz greats to listen to. She has embodied all these great Jazz artists and why we refer to as the "Jazz Queen". She can literally sing any genre of music but Jazz is her preferred wheelhouse. You will undoubtedly find out why she performs barefoot in the comments and it is also in a book she published at 9 years old. Liked your comments about who she is, she is the sweetest, most humble, caring human being on this planet. She has raised, already by this age, over 22 million for children's charities and environmental causes. So, not only is this young lady a generational talent, she is nothing but Class and a kind heart. All of this and other reasons is why she has an immense fan base who love her and protect her...Angels as we are called. Already subbed your channel and enjoy your journey with the Angel so far.
