Biggest "Nope" moment? Probably the Mannequins in Little Nightmares 2. Seeing them move like clockwork machines while they were silhouetted was terrifying. Maybe it's because I haven't played many horror games, but that section was the most gut-wrenching part of any game for me, a close second is Mr. X.
Any monster in any of the little nightmares games are all big nope moments for me.

One of the 'nope' moments in my childhood was playing Kirby's Dreamland 3 and fighting zero. I had 3 months of nightmares when I was 7 years old. Now I see them as a cute enemy, how strange, right?

That’s funny you mentioned something cute being experienced as scary in your youth. Me personally I’ve had several nightmares and was quite afraid of blue from ‘blue’s clues’ I don’t know why 4 year old me thought it was as scary as it appeared to me, very interesting to look back on though.

The redeads from Windwaker were far more terrifying, even considering their more cartoonish design. For one, the scream was far more shrill and sustained for a longer moment than in OoT, and the way the camera locked onto their faces when they made eye contact with you just made everything even more traumatic. Their attack animations were also scarier, as they'd actually bite into you several times, and they even bothered to animate the saliva splash with each bite.
I remember the first time I got jumped by one, trying to get the mirror shield. It was such a shock to the system, especially in contrast with the ways other enemies attack you. The rest of the game feels like LotR, and then out of nowhere you're in a grindhouse film getting jumped by a literal zombie. It's so horrifyingly intimate the way it screams to paralyze you, as it slowly trudges in your direction and climbs on top of you to feed on your neck meat. I was ready to turn the game off right then and there as a teenager. They really drove home the feeling of helplessly being eaten alive, all cell-shaded and cartoony.
And then there's that one area with the Summer house where you have to drop down into a pit with 2x ReDeads.
I remember dropping/throwing all of my bombs down that pit, trying to KO them before I drop down.
@@Tahtorak That moment when you first discover the hole and blindly jump in, and one of them scream-stuns you as soon as you land, and you pause the game and have a panic attack as you realize you weren't at all prepared for this and should have restocked supplies before spelunking, because you're probably about to die.
@@_The_Traveler_ Those ReDeads are the reason why I hesitate to replay Wind Waker. They are among my most dreaded video game enemies, right alongside Metroids and Sheegoths/Grenchlers.
@@Tahtorak This was literally my exact sentiment for years after I first played this game. Just couldn't deal with zombies, especially the idea that you find them in places where no one would find you if something happened, like a half mile deep into some underground crypt or temple. I think I may have even had nightmares about them the first time I played the game.

Alien:isolation was so terrifying, the actual movies no longer scare me
I never found the movies scary but I have a feeling if I played the game, the aliens would be much more scary.
I watched all the movies and Im 12 but the thing is I didnt get scared but just the ambience of the game is enough for me to pu tdown the controller and leave( I acctually put down the controller out of fear before I even saw the alien)
I saw my first Alien movie when I was 8. I get spooked at jumpscares, but wasn’t scared. I played Isolation when I was 18. I had nightmares for a week. I still have sometimes.

I had a big 'NOPE' moment for days after seeing the certain "Card guard" enemies in Alice: madness returns.
It was recently since I still have an Xbox 360
But the very first 'NOPE' moment in my life was when I was a kid playing the winx game on PS2 and a blob like boss came to me in the witch's school cafeteria
Those card guards were certainly freaky already, but I assume you're talking about the big one that gives chase, because that one was definitely a nope moment!

I noped out for the wrong reason. I was playing on the highest difficulty and knowing X, I been knew I was gonna get fed up with em. Killed me once. Cool, I saved my game. Killed me twice. Ard, be careful. Three times. This is annoying. The 8th time I was killed, I quit.
I think the teacher in Little Nightmares 2 would've made this list tbh. She's scary as heck with that stretchy neck

Bonnie fan Another thing is that people have DIFFERENT fears and phobias. You can not control how their body reacts to a certain thing, the reason why Minecraft cave sounds can get people to say “nope” is that you do not know what it causing those sounds. You do not know what it is, it’s really idiotic on how you replied to this joke.
My biggest nope moment was Deepnest from hollow knight. I was on the phone to my friend and he was genuinely concerned for my sanity because after a while I started to hum the tune that the hollow Knight npc myla sings. I had been silent for ages previously so it definitely freaked my friend out.
The Amnesia part triggers me everytime! I finished the game 3 times with 3 different endings and yet it's as scary as ever!

My biggest nope was in the evil within. You are running thru the house and have to solve 4 puzzles and if the ghost that randomly pops up touches you then you're dead and have to start all the way back over

@@agent-0 I think he talked about ruviks mansion. While you are exploring his childhood secrets and solving the puzzles like in an escape room he starts to spawn and wants to make you cry. Once he gets to you, you'll find yourself at the last checkpoint with your pants wet.
I hate the jumpscare that comes afterwards. As much as I ADORE horror games, I frigging hate jumpscares.

My worst one was me as a young lad doing Ravenholm in HL2, during the first encounter with the howling fast zombies, i hit exit when i saw one sprinting at me after those dreadful noises.

My biggest 'NOPE' moment will have to be playing Resident Evil: Nemesis and encountering the Nemesis himself. I tried to power through but at one point I got to a 'Manditory' fight against him and just couldn't take him down. But he had me jumping at every clatter. The zombies? An annoyance at best. But every time I heard that tell-tale guttural utterance of 'Stars' and a roar, I felt my heart drip to the floor from fear. ^^; he hits like a truck and with each encounter, if you wanna try and stand and fight, he proves to be a bullet sponge. Your shots don't even seem to tickle as he marches up to pound your character into a fine bloody paste ^^;
Yes i loved how nemesis's encounters in the original re3 were almost always random so you are always on edge and the fact that the more you downed him the weaker he got until the end boss were he is almost a sad blob of what he used to be. The remake for re3 did not do him justice at all.
The Mad Piano from SM64 is easily one of my Nope moments I remember in my younger days, same for the terrifying Eel in that one other level I can’t remember the name of.
My terrifying moment:
When bendy comes with the ink on the wall and the elevator and the miracle station are nowhere near you at all.

Yes, one time I was doing the destroy bendy cutouts in chapter 3 and right as soon as the elevator doors closed, he spawned. I just deciding to go with it, stood still and used me as his SACRIFICE.
At that point, I just gave up. At least i died for a good cause.

The two biggest nope moments in my opinion are
1. When you enter a boss fight and realize just how unprepared you are(for example mega Flowey I didn’t expect him the close the game)
2. Doing a normal task in a game (example shaking trees in acnh) and something that can harm you pops out(a wasp nest falling
as i was rather young when i played f.e.a.r. i was more terrified than i'd like to admit at this ladder scene. for me still one of the best shock moments in videogame history :)
I jumped out of my chair when Paxton Feddel hits you with the 2x4 (?) when you got to the top of a ladder
That jump scare on bioshock infinite’s asylum stage gave me a mini heart attack. I dreaded that part but still finished it cuz I love the game.

My biggest nope moment was when the kraken in sea of thieves showed up and it sunk my ship and I’m terrified of the deep ocean so I was like, “my ship is sinking and I’m gonna be stuck in the middle of nowhere stuck with a kraken.” So I just left the game

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who is actually "in" the game. I have claustrophobia so when I can't find my way out of a dungeon or cave I panic.
The piano one when I was playing SM64 in the "Golden Days" scared the HELL out of me
F.E.A.R and the sequel were sooo good back in the day. i would stay up late and play it. some spooky stuff went on in these games, and i loved it. you could hear your heartbeat during the spooky sections. just perfect!

My biggest nope moment was in a horror game called Ann, honestly... That game scared the living daylights out of me. I had walked through a hallway and saw a girl covered in blood appear out of nowhere numerous times. I eventually quit the game after being crushed by a blood-covered piano. That game was crazy!
First time i found the piano i knew something was off with it
Another nope moment is The Regenerator from Resident Evil 4. Such an erie and frightening experience, from the quiet hallway you move through to the moment it comes walking toward you breathing heavily. Also the black Regenerator-like creature from RE6

It's because of that that I knew that Outlast 2 was not going to be good and here's why. That DLC to me was better than Outlast 2. They literally said we're going to throw everything that we can at this DLC. it was one of the most scariest and disgusting games I've ever seen or played. With Outlast 2, where do you go?

5:38 the one stage I feared the most was Rusty Bucket Bay. When you fell into the oily, noxious gas spewing water, a siren would sound off, your ability to jump out of the water inhibited, and a race against time to climb the nearest ladder, the siren growing higher and higher in pitch as you started to lose more and more air.
Who else saw the Mario thing at 1:57 and yelled "MIMIC!!!!!" ?

A small game, ECHO, has my personal nope moment towards the beginning when the echos begin to properly copy what you do. It’s genuinely terrifying.

The biggest Nope moment for me Hass to be exploring Forex is dreadnought. It has such an urethra vibe to it. The place feels old, dark and cold, with the ship being massive in the raid itself leaning you deeper into the bow of the ship it is truly the stuff of nightmares.

Eh, for the standards in the past, when Horror Games weren’t that scary, perhaps. It did mention in the video that for it’s generation and the unexpectedness. Admittedly, others are far more scary and “Nope”.

I had nightmares for weeks as a kid when i played Ocarina of Time because of those damn things lol
So the water monster in amnesia got me. I pushed myself through that part and when I completed the "chase" scene, I was distraught enough to say "Yeah, that was good enough". Took me years to go back to it.

How about encountering Nemesis for the first time in the OG. I watched my dad’s gf’s kid play that back in the day and when he first encountered and got chased by Nemesis all you could hear were his footsteps and deep voice saying STARS... that kid NOPED right out of that game instantly.
Ok but what about when you go in the dead zone in Subnautica? Stuff is the shit of nightmares.
@@SUPREME_MACHINE_V2 yea playing that game myself I had to stop as I realized that the deeper I went in that game the more the vast ocean freaked me out. I am now uncomfortable with the ocean in general... Nope, nope and nope!
Alma never scared me, in fact, I was impressed with where and when she appeared. It was like they planned it all carefully and not just insert here to scare the said player. Also, I feel sadder for her then scared of her. The ladder part and injector part which is shown are probably one of the best placements in any horror game.
biggest nope moment for me was either the first time i played the evil within 2 and had to navigate the first hotel kind of section with stefano. so so so tense. either that or any situation with bloodflies in dishonored 2, absolutely terrifying
That piano in Super Mario 64 scared me so much as a kid. I had and still have the game for the DS and that thing just all of a sudden starting to move and to make loud noises was the scariest thing ever to me when I first encountered it. I was truly terrified of that thing but never remembered what room it was in so I'd mistakingly stumble across it from time to time...
Edit: Another thing that really creeped me out was that in the game Asterix XXL (Asterix and Obelix: Kick Buttix in America I believe) there was a spot in the Egypt area where the music usually indicating "there is still something to do here" would start playing even though there never was anything to do there. Even if you finish the entire area, 100% the entire game, it still appears. That creeped me out so much as a kid because just going from no music because everything is finished to that specific music was really weird.
Also there was something I was scared off in Rayman 2 (Revolution for PS2) or Rayman 3, but I can't remember what it was. Gotta play these games again to remember but there was definitely something in that game that terrified me.

I really miss the flood. As disturbing as they were, they were a cool change of pace from the Covenant. Just imagine what they could do with them nowadays. I'm not sure if there was an in-universe explanation for this or if it was just an oversight but I think it'd be cool to have them be able to infect the different types of covenant races

I was like fourteen when I first played it and I almost noped out of there
First ever playthrough of Silent Hill 3 on the PS2 made me poo a bit when you're in the mannequin room, then there's the high pitch scream (I was proud when I immediately held the aim button and slowly retreated) and the mannequin you just saw has its bloody head on the floor.
Me and my buddy totally cured #1 and turned Mr. X into something hilarious. Whichever of us was not playing the game had their finger on the play button for DMX's "X Gon Give It To Ya" and would immediately play the song every time he appeared, and pause it again once he was safely out of range.
I think the NOPE moment for Outlast is the sewer scene, from the dozens of times I’ve played the game through, that one part always makes me nervous.
