Juliet Landau just brings it as Drusilla. Creepy, crazy, sexy, crazy, terrifying, crazy, sweet...crazy.
The series is really deepening and darkening now.
    Gellar is simply amazing.

"You have a choice! You don't have a good choice, but you have a choice!"
This is a really really important line! Arguably the main thesis of the entire series. When you're done with the season/show, it's worth looking back with this line in mind. :)

Spike actually kept his word, he turned Ford.
But he didn't take the body with him.
Ford didn't negotiate the details very well, so Spike kept to the letter of his deal, but not the spirit, and so Buffy got to bury Ford and then stake him.

One of the things I always say about this episode is that it is a more deep and meaningful episode than it first appears. The reason I say that is that it took me years to notice all the nuances, and not just look at it as a monster-of-the-week with a _Full House_ message.

  • @ernesthakey3396

The writers use the "people don't talk to each other and drama ensues" quite a lot, but to be fair, that happens a lot in real life too.

I have a fan theory that Drusilla was actually The Slayer, but she never found out since her parents wouldn't let her be alone with a man. She did have prophetic dreams, like slayers do.

I liked Buffy when it came out, but this episode was the first that made me think, "Oh this show is different." It was later this season that made me think, "Ok this is now my favorite show". Looking forward to future reactions!

Ok, I love this episode. To me, it’s the first of the “oh crap this is really deep and meaningful” episodes of Buffy. Can’t wait to see what you think.

@18:25 "after hundreds of years you would have pretty good intution about people" - the metaphor in BTVS is that vampires don't grow up and learn to be better people/adults, they just get older.

This is actually one of my favorite episodes of season 2 because it really asked the question of "who really are your friends".
Interestingly this is the first episode that goes into Buffy's past, the next being Becoming which actually rectons the 1993 fi

The only Buffy two-parters that were aired together is 1x01 & 1x02 and 6x01 & 6x02. So even though there are two-parters in the series, people had to wait a week on them. So honestly combine them if you feel like, but there's no reason to.

Even though it was a misconception, the misconception within the misconception was that when she said cake, the word cake wasn't referring to cake as in dessert, but cake as in the black soot build up that accumulated and get caked on the inside of chimneys.

You should definitely watch the movie 😊 it's a campy romp and has one of the funniest death scenes ever 😂 and if you don't like it you can at least see all the changes that were made (mostly in tone and dialog with a little bit of lore changes) when he got full control of the script for the series. If you watch it I'd love to see a reaction video... nobody has reacted to the movie that I've seen anyway 😁

Lie To Me is an important episode in that Angel comes clean to Buffy about his past. Buffy realising that as Angelus he tormented Drusilla and turned her. We saw in School Hard Spike having his history with Angel/Angelus too. The writers do a great job gradually showing how Angel, Spike, Drusilla ( and others can't say cos of spoilers ) have this shared history a theme throughout the show. Ford is of course dying of cancer, and as with many people in this situation would do anything to be rid of the disease. Buffy tells him, he has a choice, not a good one, but a choice to do the right thing. You can now seeing how this show is really showing how deep and meaningful it is, you can see the layers of the plotlines being put down for the future episodes.

If you wanted to throw a single great Christmas reaction out there, I'd recommend (if you haven't seen them) either Die Hard or Violent Night.
Perfect for someone who isn't into a traditional Christmas film but still wants in on that sweet TH-cam algorithm.
    Keep up the great content!

Something to be said about the trope of trouble that could’ve been fixed if people just talked about it; if it helps someone recognize that they are in a situation like that themselves and they go and talk about the problem and solve it, does it make the trope worth it? If it’s educational?

The Buffy movie and series are only somewhat related. I haven’t read the script or the comic based on it but I assume the movie was intended to be more like the series.
The series is a continuation of Joss Whedon’s original script. It’s like he wrote Scream but in the process of making the movie they turned it into Scary Movie.
Both are valid interpretations I suppose but the fans are divided on how much they like the combination.
