    I worked in a rental store for over 20 years. We sharpened stump grinder teeth all the time. Use a regular wheel for the steel, and a green wheel on a bench or diamond right angle grinder wheel for the carbide. I also purchased a stump grinder and sharpen my own teeth.

    Great video man. I did something very similar to what you did. But rather than welding the greenteeth pocket tip to the original cutter base, I plug-welded the bolt holes in the wheel where they were mounted and then drilled new holes, to mount a set of straight greenteeth pockets instead. It adds a bit more weight to the rotating mass, which is great, and it cuts pretty quick. Thanx for the vid bro!!

    I want to give credit where credit is due. You are one of the few people on TH-cam who i have watched that actually know how to properly grind a stump. Everybody else starts top dead center and tries to go down. I cringe every time I see that.

      Thank you for the credit. The reason I grind the way I do is becuase I have done several hundred stumps in my yard. You kind of fiqure out what works best with that many grinds. I still have a lot more of them to take out. That is the reason I wanted to get my own grinder with teeth that will stay sharp and make my job easier.

    Have this same grinder. It's a beast for the price.

    This should be sent to the manufacturer of this stump grinder. They should offer the center green teeth as an option to the carbide teeth.

      I think someone does make a replacement wheel that will accept Greenteeth for this grinder. I saw the wheel a few months ago.

    Could you make a video showing some of how you converter the wheel for the Green Teeth cutters? I just bought the same grinder and it said it’s compatible with the cutters but I’m not sure what they mean yet since I haven’t gotten it yet. Also how do you sharpen the cutters?

    • @skimpro2
      @skimpro2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I already made the conversion so its to late to video again. If you read all of the comments its will tell you how to do it. There is also a video I did for sharpening the teeth, just search sharpening green teeth.

      skimpro2 Yeah I found some videos about sharpening the Green Teeth and I see that in July they made the stump grinder compatible with Green Teeth pockets. Thanks for the reply!

    So this made a huge improvement? what about keeping those teeth sharp? will the wear out and then you will cut them off with a angle grinder and weld three more new green teeth on??? i am not the greatest welder i have a f $140 flux core from northern tool... Have you watched other videos on this power king? I just want to make sure that your trick is the best way to get this machine set up... from what i think and have seen you know what you're doing... I checked the price and it went up $500 since two years ago when i was considering stating a little stump removeable business... but this machine still seems to be best bang for the buck... thanks for sharing your tricks...

    • @skimpro2
      @skimpro2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it made huge improvement. The outer teeth were switched to the green teeth first and I left the center teeth the original type. I cut through a lot of rocks and the greenteeth could be rotated for a shraper edge, The original were all chipped up and were not able to be sharpened. I dont think they were doing any cutting anymore, just rubbing the stumps .Now I can just rotate or replace if they get dull. But they never really do.

      @@skimpro2 I watched this guy on you tube using a rented green grinder with a honda and it looked the same size as power king... he did a bunch of stumps some were pretty huge... and it seemed pretty fast... i never asked you about vibration... Is it rough on the hands... as far as anything else this machine seems perfect... most machines this size are more costly . thax for all your great info you shared.

    • @skimpro2
      @skimpro2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@roadstar499 I have no problem at all with vibraion. Just a lot of sore muscles pushing the thing around.

      @@skimpro2 Yes, i am almost positive i want to get one and when i do i will be sure to watch you mod video's again to refresh my mind...sounds like changing those teeth made that machine 2x better at cutting and no issues with teeth... i wonder if the ones now have green teeth..? they must have seen videos from you and others by now... What was your cost? around $1300? now they charge around 2000... thax

    Cut off & weld? That’s how you replace teeth?

  • @adamofmass520
    @adamofmass520 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So out of curiosity would you make/weld together a complete set for someone to buy from you?

    • @skimpro2
      @skimpro2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, I asked a friend to weld them for me. It only took about 5 minutes. If you cut them like I showed and take them to a weld shop and they see them, they will see how easy they are to weld. I gave the guy $20. They work great.

      I have a PK 0803-h and I wanted to do this same setup... I noticed that the center for the stock teeth are 1” inch and on the LoPro 500’s it’s 1.5” inches... there does not seem to be enough room on the drum to install all of the new 500’s
