I have a new Powerking stump grinder. I contacted Greenteeth to inquire about purchasing pockets and teeth. They told me that their pockets would not work on a Powerking. Can you give me any advise on what you used on your machine? The standard teeth that come with the stump grinder are the weak link in the system. I really want to upgrade the teeth.
I’ve recently purchased a Hyundai HYSG150-2 stump grinder (exactly the same build as the king-power). I’m looking to carry out the same upgrade as you’ve carried out soon, as I’m not overly happy with the stock grinding teeth. Now, what are your thoughts about using two 500 series straight pockets in place of the stock centre grinding tooth? I know you modified the centre cutter and welded on the straight Greenteeth tooth attachment. Is there any reason you didn’t opted for just adding two flat pockets with two more additional cutting teeth?
Very cool! How much faster does power king cut with those teeth..? So everything is 500 series including mounts..what's the diameter of the wheel btw..?lastly how many stumps can you cut like that before you should sharpen to keep machine performance ? Thanks again...
The teeth are the 500 series. The wheel they mount on is the same wheel that came with the machine, just drilled the holes a little bigger. I would think they run better than the factory but its hard to tell unless they are side by side. There is not a good way to sharpen the factory teeth. The factory teeth I left on in the center have dulled and 1 of them chipped on the corner. I can do several stumps and not notice a difference in the Greenteeth getting dull. If they do you just turn them 1/3 rotation and they lock down with another sharp edge.
skimpro2 so you think 700 teeth are to big and would not work? Since power king is 14 hp and some look to be 8 to 12 hp...and use the 500 teeth I think if they fit they may work well..
Okay i found the parts that you used...Can you tell me why you chose 500 series and not 700 series? did you research? i see stump grinders with less then 10 hp... 14 hp maybe able to handle slightly larger 700 series and possibly remove material faster. or are they 2 big to fit ?..thanks
They 500 are smaller than the 700. There are some grinders similar in size to the Powerking that had the Green teeth such as a Toro and a Bluebird. I just looked at what they had for a set up and made it work for this grinder.
A friend of mine charges by the inch of the stump and it has to be cut low to the ground or he charges extra to cut it. He charges $3.00 an inch but he has a big Vermeer grinder. Figure out what the market will bear and go from there. It’ll take longer to grind with one of these types of grinders so maybe charge $3.50 a inch and if they are far from you charge some for the trip too. If they have a bunch of stumps to do maybe charge a bit less per stump as you’ll make more from a bigger job. Good luck!
The size of the wood chips are very small. I would expect at least 3 inch pieces of wood shavings, not little chips. My Laski does that alot quicker with standard teeth
Not sure what a Laski is, but when I google that its a much bigger machine. The size of the chip is all dependent on the how much surface contact you have. My little machine works great for me. I Don't care about the chip size, just getting rid of stumps without renting anymore. Do you resharpen your teeth?
@@skimpro2 Been earning a living from stump grinding, amongst other things, for 10 years. The size of the chip indicates you are removing wood quicker. Long shavings mean you have it set up perfectly. Laskis are European, I have 2 models. Yes I resharpen my teeth, took about 2 years to get it right. The angle is so important
How much do the teeth cost?
Can you tell me the bolt size on the 500's where you got best deal.
Thanks.
They are 500 series lo pro bolts 1-3/4

Everything you need to know is in all of the comments on the videos. Its not that hard to do.
See the video " Sharp Teeth part 1" and read the comments.

Is the cutting edge of the green teeth the same distance from the center of the wheel as the cutting edge of the original center teeth?
Yes they are very close. I found a way to make the center teeth with greenteeth. I will post a video soon.

No I never considered that. I was just going for a easy cut and weld. I think your idea would work. Give it a try and let me know how it works.
skimpro2 I’ll upload a video once I’ve added the 3 sets of straight pockets. I’m currently awaiting delivery to carry out the first mod 👍
There are 3 lengths for 500 with bolt size
I want to buy the correct size. Thanks
My PowerKing stump grinder is always spinning... does yours have a clutch brake?
No, at Idle it stops spinning. No clutch brake. Maybe your throttle cable is not set right or pinched.

Check the spacing of the holes on the 700. The 500 series is 1.5" and fits the hole spacing already in the wheel.

Do you make money with the machine? If so, what are your rates?
No I don not make money with the stump grinder. I just have a lot of trees in my yard and I am always dealing with stumps.

How much do they cost
About $7.00 each. See the video at Sharp Teeth part 1.
