Yeah, I was just reaching for my drink when that came up. If that was 5 seconds later, I would have drenched my PC screen. My favorite TechDweeb joke in a while...LOL
I just started watching your videos today, I can't stop enjoying it, your videos are awesome and i love it, the style, the personality and everything just making me addicted
Amazing video, such vibe and quality!!! The talking console is adorable and a really refreshing gimmick, tragic though when it comes to listing downsides and it feeling like there's something wrong with a living thing... I actually got sad at the dpad part...... Amazing channel, my go to, feels like more than just reviews, it's an experience!!
The talking AI robot voice is a nice touch. Reminds me of the late 90s PJ cartoon hosts and their animated counterparts bouncing off each other between programs airing. Very retro touch
You're an artist! His videos are extremely ambient, very immersive and enjoyable lighting, what a satisfaction to see the irreverent and detailed way in his reviews Congratulations!
Since declaring this my favorite retro handheld channel, TechDweeb has been putting out his best videos yet. So i want more. I demand more entertainment! Ok bye.
Another cool video, Dweeb! I didn’t know white and purple/violet go well together. I think it’s better than black and purple/violet. I love the video as usual, from the fonts, colors, aesthetics and the humor! Thanks for this!
Thank you so much for your interview on Adin Walls' channel. I'm a classical musician at about a D-List level in my field, and I'm almost 4 months into my sobriety journey. The comments that you made about both addiction and your role in life as an artist really resonated with me. Also, I love your content! Keep up the amazing work :-)
@samsungfan1982 yeah it's bad. Their brand subreddit is full of horror stories. I've literally seen someone ask for advice about purchasing an ayaneo device vs a steam deck and 90% of people said get the Steam Deck. On their own subreddit.
The device looks beautiful and I'd love to have one, but a less than stellar d-pad is a dealbreaker 😭 $400 is definitely a ton of money, but I could let my bank account take a big hit if this one device could play all my retro games with amazing controls, even the 8 bit stuff. Loved the video! You're one of the top emulation handheld TH-camrs for me and I'm always excited to see you put new videos out!
Thanks to your review and RGC's I have decided to cancel my order for this. Definitely disappointed in the dpad, the sticks and the drivers. And really happy at the announcement of the odin 2 mini as that will basically check all of my boxes bar any fatal flaws that might appear once reviewers get their hands on it. Appreciate reviewers for saving consumer's money, thanks TechDweeb!
This, with that grip case are promising! 💚I'm loving where the industry is going with all this stuff, though... at the same time it feels like we've been "on the edge" of perfection for a WHILE.
I wasnt interested in the handheld but still watched the whole video and it was a blast! Your videos are so entertaining and i laughed out loud several times... That tp is just... Magic... rofl I love you, Techdweeb and please, never change!
I think this is the most aesthetically pleasing handheld I’ve ever seen. When I first saw it teased my jaw dropped, but they took so long to give an official release date and price I ended up buying a steam deck in the interim. I do want a smaller pocketable device but that’s going to be the new Anbernic SP, so I guess I’ll wait to see if any new system emulators get released for android and if so I’ll then look for sales on either this or the Odin 2 mini for a “mid size” kind of portable, I think… idk XD
I was incredibly happy when I bought the PocketS, but seeing all these in-depth reviews and hearing that the things I'd care about (dpad, sticks, key mapper) really bums me out ahead of receiving it...
I'd really like to see smaller, cheaper and more power efficient x86 handheld PC that can play 2D indie games from my steam library arrive on the market, the closest thing is the Loki Zero but it deserves more competition since it's not perfect and pretty much a nightmare to get your hands on one
@@ninjason57 well it's not all bad but it's still a bit large, battery doesn't last a lot longer than 2 hours and is almost as expensive as a steam deck which is way better, but i'd be willing to pay steam deck price for a smaller steam deck with a less powerful but less power hungry chip
Great review, love the comedy. Don’t let people tell you otherwise, talking to inanimate objects means you’re always surrounded by friends and the world is more vibrant than those normies. One note: at 11:53 did you mean Odin 2 or pockets?
11:53 Both. Any Android device really. At a certain point it doesn't matter how much power you can get because you won't be able to make full use of it using the software we have.
I really hope we eventually get a full steam client for android. If steam just allowed devs the choice to port their games to Android a lot would since they already have an arm version for switch to base it on. Would buy a device like this in a heartbeat if it could play my steam games. Plus with the right optimization something like this would be plenty powerful enough to play even the most demanding games at 720p low settings
Great Video as always. I was wondering what that stand was that you where using at 13:43 for the Pocket S and was wondering if it will fit the Odin 2 in it? If so can you send me a link. Thx :)
Great review! Not for me given the Odin 2, BUT... Maybe an idea for your next video would be to try Mobox? NFS: The Run? I think this might shine when it comes to emulating windows apps.
Howdy. I've been following you for some time and I honestly appreciate your quality humor, but when I heard the phase with "bombarder de cornichons" I subscribed instantly.😁 I own only one retro device, namely RG35XX H... Yeah, the ZAZZBIZZLE, which arrived a few days ago and which I'm still trying to get used to. It's ok, but the screen seems too small and I'm thinking of getting one with a bigger screen in the near future and with more "muscles" for more demanding games.😄 Finally, great video. You are so funny to watch. 🥳I think you have become my No. 1 Comedy channel.... Aaaa... I mean Retro Handheld Channel.😅 Big like and greetings from Romania!👍
Tbh I prefer the option of handheld devices causing me to go crazy as opposed to them causing me to be in crippling and irrecoverable debt, which seems to be the case. Oh, to be in a world where debt is not a thing and just being crazy is what we have to deal with. Instead, I have to deal with both. I guess I gotta thank myself for the double whammy..... Good video as always, made me think.
It's very pretty, but I'm not really interested in it at all? Somehow it veers too far into that modern aesthetic for me to truly appreciate it. But the cute AI that comes with it almost had me convinced
Yeah I can see that. It's beautiful and elegant, but also kinda soulless. This feels like the handheld equivalent of a white iPhone or something. Industrial feeling I guess.
Great review! When it comes to the device itself - such a dpad and other flaws with that price? Sorry, definitely a "no"! Odin 2 and Retroid Pocket 4 Pro are way better when it comes to most bang for buck.
One day away from my steam deck OLED, but not by choice. Broke my regular steam deck like on my first day of a week worth of vacation largely meant to use said regular steam deck. . .
Swing and a miss. They didn’t need to create a new shell for the pocket air; Just needed to ditch the apu. This thing looks like it could be used as a skipping stone.
@12:45 - "Going Commando" was easily the best of the PS2 era Ratchet & Clank games. (Yeah, Armin Shimerman was excellent as Doctor Nefarious, but I still didn't like "Up Your Arsenal" nearly as much. Felt too unfocused to me...)
I have the ODIN 2, and anyone else find it weirdly uncomfortable with the silicone skin on it? Yet you take that off and it feels fine... I don't know why that is, but also, personally, I've been playing more retroid flip... for some odd reason, that's been more of a personal favorite of mine.
I have been playing Baldur's Gate 3, Hades 2, The Witcher 3 with mods, Fallout 4 with mods on my Steam Deck. I now look at this Pocket S, look at the price, look back at my steam deck, remember its price, and just say "hum... no" to the pocket S. I'm sorry, but if you are at or above Steam Deck price you should play what the Steam Deck plays or better. It is what it is.
True. True. I guess the steam deck isn't pocketable though. And this thing has an all-day battery. Different devices but if pure bang-for-the-buck power and compatibility is the goal, then really nothing beats the Deck
Video production quality on your videos are so good and the face animations are super fun. Good job!
Thanks for saying so!

Never seen a retro handheld that comes with real-time voice AI, amazing!
I watch your reviews like a fun cartoon show. Each has a cool narrative and upbeat mood that make every episode a joy to rewatch.

These videos ooze so much personality. One of my favorites along with Retro Game Corps.
Thank for the honest review! It’s a super nice device but seems to be ahead of its time (lack of software). I’m eager to see the Pocket DMG
I still think this's got the best intro of any retro games video on TH-cam.

It’s a beautiful handheld but the price and having to get a case for better ergonomics keeps me with my Odin 2 Pro. Excellent review as always.
And Ayaneo is a shit-tier company. Terrible QC and support.
