    I had a replica of the Twister Ram with the V10 for 6 years, the engine was fun, ate gas, was my daily, and higher mileage at 266k when the engine blew up. Spent more on replacing the entire engine than I did on the truck, but it was worth it! I got a 95 V10 4x4 2500 fully restored in my sights for my second Twister build, 112k miles. This video popped up and I had to watch it. Hearing that V10 flutter got me excited to have one again! Thanks for the video!

    Dude those v10s are badass. I averaged 12 with mine. Ive had 4 because nobody wanted them. Reliable and they run strong. And they will haul ass with a 5 speed manual driving like you stole it. The biggest problem i had with mine was the disappearing rear tire act

    Yup, definitely built to tow. It's got the character and low down torque of a diesel. It gets nowhere near the mpg of a diesel, though. Years back, during the last period of spiked gas prices, I towed my 33' 5th wheel the length of California getting 6mpg and paying $4.35/gal. With the $100 limit that most credit cards had on at-the-pump transactions, I had to use two different cards at every stop. Other than that, though, I've got nothing bad to say about the V10.

    I have 2 of these trucks, both of mine are 1995, one has 6xx,xxx miles its the 2500, the other i just bought yesterday is the 3500 dually, it has 236,672 miles, I am also in the process of selling my 2001 ram 1500 with the 5.9
    The best thing about the v10 is gas mileage doe not change no matter if you are towing or just idling.
    Both my v10s have exhaust leaks, parts are stupidly hard to find, even more so on the dually that the 2500. But I haven't found it too expensive to work on. But yea both of mine are the long beds, on my 2500 I'm the 3rd owner my dad was the second owner. On the 3500 I am the 2nd owner.

      Careful what you say, you might be dead wrong. Doesn’t take much to rework the water jackets and fit the gen 1 viper heads and intake to the cast iron truck block. Oil pump is the same too, all sensors are the same for 1st gen vipers. I can go on and on.

    • @ConcussedGaming
      @ConcussedGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moneybitches4796 I wouldn't say "much" work. Because if you go cutting and welding on the intake one little leak and you're gonna be rebuilding the bottom end of your engine. Not to mention killing your fuel economy if the heads don't fit right. But yes it could swap parts. You could theoretically get any parts to fit on at engine it's just about time and money and of course the quality of the fabrication skills.

PARTS ARE HARD TO FIND. You got to know where to look OR buy a entire moter for parts. Mine it a Heavy-duty version both 2500 and 3500 are Heavy-duty 2WD will come with one ton Dana 70 rear end the 4X4 will come with a Dana Spicer 60 up front also has one ton axles and drive shafts. As a former owner of one of those, I disagree with everything except the gas mileage and performance. Overall it was one of the best vehicles I have owned. I had it for almost 20 years and put well over 100k hard miles (towing and off road use) on it. Never had any problems other than normal wear items (brakes, etc) and it was easy to work on. I sold it to a friend when I bought a newer Cummins powered Dodge. He installed a snow plow on it and is still using it almost daily. Aside from freeway speed towing, I would recommend one of those trucks any day. Diesel fuel is now almost double the price of gasoline here now, so the mileage doesn't seem so bad anymore.

    These engines have soured me on Dodges. I will never buy another Dodge. First engine had a cracked piston due to someone mixed up the lay pattern of the plug wires in the plastic conduit carrying the wires to the drivers side. There are warnings about this in the factory manual. About a month age the harmonic balancer spun off the front. Dodge was to cheap to put a keyway there. Got a new balancer and it wobbled on the crank shaft. The end of the crank wore down to small for the new pulley. Then last week Lost oil pressure. So now I'm on my third engine and the truck only has 125k miles on it. Dodge, NEVER AGAIN!

    I have a first gen 95 V10 4x4 2500. It was ordered with the heavy front and rear diff's but it has the higher gear range front and rear with the big 5 speed manual trans. If you keep it under 65 MPH unloaded, I've seen it get 18 MPG. Right now, the truck " I call it Rocky " Is down. At just under 270K miles the radiator, water pump, timing chain, and front main seal, need some love. But I really can't afford to drive it right now anyway. The fuel tank is real close to 33 to 35 gallons. Not the kind of vehicle you drive in town. However, Rock is hands down the best truck I have ever owned. What you get is really poor axle seals, possibly the world's shittiest transmission (rebuilt 3 times in the 88,000 miles on it), a gas guzzling motor that is shamed by most modern V6 motors, paint so bad from the factory, it's like a Mako $99 respray and internal plastic parts that started to self destruct after 5 years (I'm not sure they could have sourced cheaper polymer for the dash cap). I believe I paid for every option available only to have the front ball joints leave the building before the first year was up. It was the last American made vehicle I bought and ever will buy. That being said, I am starting a mild factory resto on it for shits and giggles. Other than all that, the AC has never been serviced and it still blows ice cold. Amazing...

    It's got 103,000 orig. miles & the only repairs It has ever needed were Brakes, & the smog pump
    went out (bad bearing). I deleted the smog pump, But I still have those hoses sitting their
    under the hood. not sure what to do with them lol. It runs great, But It has a leaky
    freeze plug right behind the motor mount & looks like the engine has to be raised up

      @johndoe1678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends really diesels take a while more to warm up in cold weather, also gas is more readily available then diesel fuel, but that and price is really the only negative I can think of those cummins get almost 20 mpg highway the V10 gets 12

    • @brianwilson7408
      @brianwilson7408 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I sold my V10 and got a Cummins. I've found that the Cummins tows better at freeway speeds, but the V10 did better towing at low speeds and off road. Plenty of power right off idle but the Cummins doesn't make much power until the turbo gets spooled up.
      Now diesel is almost double the price of gas and I didn't have to plug the V10 in to start it in the extreme cold. A V10 definitely has some advantages.

Heater is Luke warm too and I tested the thermostat by leaving the radiator cap open and after about 10 or more minutes idling it still didn’t open. It never overheats though. Any thoughts?
