    More music by Andrew Scott: andrewscott.ba...
    A review of the Master Grade AV-98 Ingram unit 1, 2 and 3, from the anime series Patlabor.
    Also, I just noticed I had the shoulders for Ingram 2 and 3 BACKWARDS. lol How did I miss that? Ah well, thankfully, I don't show those too often.
    -- Production notes for me to cringe at later --
    This video is technically a reupload of a previous review. However, I had to take it down and swap out the music, so I decided to make some updates. Below are the notes for the original version, followed by the notes for this updated version.
    -I did not enjoy making this review lol. This is already one of my least favorite kits (I like the mech design and anime tho), but this review was full of production problems. Definitely going to learn from this one…
    The script was a pain because I tried to review 5 kits at once. Will NOT make that mistake again.
    For some reason I couldn’t talk the day I recorded stuff. So, by the end I just had this tone of “ugh, get this over with.” I actually re-recorded the whole thing a day later and got a much more upbeat tone.
    The shooting sucked here. All the different heads and shoulder combinations. Plus, this kit JUST KEPT BREAKING. I legitimately broke 3-4 joints during the filming of this. The plastic on this kit is just so brittle. I really should’ve elaborated on that in this review.
    Anyway, it took 3 days to get all the footage. Way too long for a toy review lol
    Once I got all the footage and I got down to editing the still images, for some reason my camera had switched from shooting in RAW to jpeg. Which meant I couldn’t do my usual post processing to bump up colors and exposure and stuff. Super annoying.
    Of course, in the last review (Master Gundam) I made note of how the images were over processed, so when I put a color filter on afterwards, they ended up looking weird. So maybe this was a blessing in disguise.
    The real kicker is that after all this production bs, it’s still a negative review, so I’ll probably get a couple of negative comments and thumbs down lol. Ah~ still, firm believer that a review is worthless if it isn’t honest. So, come at me lol
    Next review is gonna be a lay-up. I have the MG God Gundam on standby, so might review that, but then again, that’s also gonna be a slightly negative review, so might want to build something that I can just gush over for 10 minutes instead.
    I really like the thumbnail for this video. I actually made that cloudy background myself in Photoshop and found the right font and everything. It's just Arial Black Italic btw lol. It was a lot of fun to recreate one of my favorite mecha posters.
    Here are the notes for this updated version:
    New music
    Re-EQ'd audio
    Updated Font
    Retouched Title Card
    Sped up ending tally
    Was gonna change the color filter, but the old one actually worked better than my current one. Maybe it was because this suit is mainly black and white, but the 'poppy'-ness of the previous two videos wasn't there, so I just kept it the way it was.
    Hope my mistakes help you with whatever video stuff you decide to work on. Here’s a sic vid yo • 八神純子 - カシミヤのほほえみ

    I really wish we'd see version 2.0 of the Labor MG's and maybe more Patlabor kits, like an MG Type Zero. Hell I'd love for more Patlabor stuff, I'm just sad the live-action series flopped, but then again it's kind of expected.

    My first ever Bandai model kit was the MG Ingram 2 re-release with the lights. I was in 4th or 5th grade when I built it. Before that, I've only ever built a Bomberman model kit that was marketed to kids my age.

    Thanks for this video! I recently tracked down the LED "Patlamp" version and can confirm that the build feels like and uphill battle.
    But all things considered I loved it a lot and I even added more lights!
    I coped with the limited articulation by displaying it in a "power pose" and am currently making a "crime scene on a rainy night" diorama.

    I love Patlabor, but I can't find the Robot Damashii figure so I think I'll pick one of these guys up and replace the rubber tubing with actual cloth

    Thanks, was thinking about getting one since I've done a bunch of MGs and two PGs. Still might get the blinky light version.

    Hi, can you please give the link to the recommendation you mentioned that is better off getting the 'robot....' the last word spoken wasn't clear to me. 😅
    Thanks.

      It's the "Robot Damashii" figure. It's a line of pre-made figures.

    I was wondering about the decals and if you used a setting solution like Micro Set/Micro Sol would they have worked better? Most modelers try to get a gloss surface to apply decals on. Even though you gave this kit a low score I still went and bought it as I just like the looks of this mech holding a revolver or a shotgun.

      @redheadphones6  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did use a little just to try and help get them to stay in place a little better, but it really didn't help much. If I ever were to buy another MG Ingram, I'd probably by the regular release, apply the decals, then add the gloss topcoat over top. It would probably go much better.

    So patlabor came out with 1/60 scale kits back in like the late 90s. But they're not the same size as gundam 1/60s. They're a little bit smaller than these master grades. Does anyone know why? The scaling for patlabor seems backwards

    • @BaileyZKerr
      @BaileyZKerr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's because it's a scale. The mechs are just smaller in universe than Gundams

    • @cnhnx
      @cnhnx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You need to understand how scaling works. Something labeled 1/60 scale won't have same size, it depends on the subject matter. If a Gundam is around 18 meters and Patlabor units are 8 meters (less than half of a gundam) in their respective settings, how do you expect them to have same size in same scale?

      @@haydenandersen9937 i think that is the only thing wrong with lamen rider kits, the stickers are horrible but other than that they are good kits

    • @isamuominae
      @isamuominae 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bandai make and made a lot of kits. They made even Star Trek series a decade ago.
      For Master Grade brand I can remember Patlabor and Evangelion, but they are not making Patlabor anymore.
      Gundam is more popular and sell way more that's others, that's why they focus more in Gundam.

    This kit sucks and it's definitely not worth the price. Sure, you can paint it but the proportions still look bad.
