That is the real issue I have! Other than the terrorist threat and millions of Chinese coming in the border!!!! We have our own Americans who need help! They are sick and hungry and it's disgusting that our government turn its back on our veterans and mentally ill and physically disabled! It is the worse mess this country has been in my lifetime! To treat our service men and women to the streets!! That is so so wrong!! We do not have the money room or time for these migrants!! They have been fed the Biden lies because he wanted their votes that is all!! AMERICA IS COMMUNIST JUST LIKE WHERE YOU JUST CAME FROM SORRY. How were you in NY, and a student at that, eating out of dumpsters?😏 NYC is literally the easiest place in the country to get government assistance, ESPECIALLY FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS. How were you not smart enough to figure it out how to at least get food assistance? I knew so many college students that had an EBT card in my college days. They literally throw money at students in NYC. All you had to do was go to the financial aid office; the pamphlets and fliers of all the resources were right there! I even worked part-time in an HRA (welfare) office during one of my college years for extra money for books and I was STILL eligible for food stamps. Either you're lying or you're not too smart.🙃

And on the daily anyone who’s insurance pays more for services like PT were forced constantly to do PT and things of the sort to drain money anyone else who’s insurance wasn’t covering certain things laid in puddles of their own waste all day crying and calling for help to no answer. What I can't believe is those immigrants are turning down what they have for them. What pisses me off again is that you have homeless New Yorkers don't even have what the city is giving these migrants. the homeless need to be in the shelters before these migrants. I'm sure some of the homeless would love to stay in that tent city but nobody's offering the homeless especially the homeless veterans like I was at one time. I'm a veteran a disabled veteran, I know what is like to be homeless in living in the street. I would love to have those accommodations when I was homeless at that time. These migrants need to be appreciative of what the city is giving them. I can't believe they're turning down what they have, and expect five-star luxury stuff when regular New York City homeless are living in the street in the cold as we speak!! F me New York and I sht you not kicked out a homeless man from a dumpster because it was (too nice)) despite people making it into a small but decent home and the guy was absolutely loving it, it was small with wall paneling’s and a small door, a beed a roof and a sleeping bag and again it’s not what you would call luxury but it was four solid walls, warm and a place where he could actually live, but because the bin was considered as a property now they basically kicked him out of if ((I’m my memory serves me correctly, but the point still stands, a homeless person would happily accept a used newspaper either so they can use it to start a fire or as a cover to keep warm at night and yet these people are so ungrateful they’re basically demanding to be put in five star hotels and yes whilst I can sympathize for what they’ve been through but unfortunately there’s only so much resources and money to go around and if it wasn’t for liberals open borders policies and Biden stopping the construction of the wall non of this would’ve happened, despite the fact that for years many people would’ve supported open borders and that it’s a violation of human rights other wise, all the while sitting in their high rise apartments complexes drinking wine and waiting for their teslas to finish charging, since they were more than happy to let the migrants coming in since it didn’t effect them, but now that they’ve only had a small wiff of what texas has been experiencing for years, they’ve changed their tune pretty quickly 😂😂

Didn't they drag their kids through that with them? Oh but now they want to stay in a 5 star hotel because the shelter provided, free of charge, with food provided 24/7 also for free isn't good enough. Our own homeless population was never offered anything like this. As usual, it's Americans last and everyone else first.

I have a bleeding heart too, it bleeds for my fellow Americans. Homeless veterans, a few years back one out of every three homeless people was a US veteran - it took years to lift them up and drop that number down according to the VA. In Chicago a few years ago I read about an elderly man (American citizen) whose gas and electric service was terminated mid winter - he froze to death in his home. The lines of American people at the food pantries are growing, but government SNAP benefits are harder to qualify for an average American making any wages. People want to have a bleeding heart for millions of illegal immigrants entering our country, but have no heart for American students being cheated by student loan companies, colleges, and universities. The government uses one inflation calculator to increase income taxes, but uses another inflation calculator to adjust social security cost of living increases. Americans are also struggling to find affordable housing themselves. My heart bleeds for American citizens...

The fact that they would reject housing accommodations after what they were willing to go through prior to getting here, really doesn't cast their plight in a very good light. There are homeless in our country that aren't offered the same options. They forced themselves onto our cities and now they're acting like they deserve more than legal citizens get. The international standard for seeking asylum is that you apply in the first country you enter. So from Venezuela it's Columbia. Columbia, Panama. Nicaragua, Honduras etc. and many are coming from African, Caribbean and Eastern Europe which means if they are landing in Mexico that's where their application should be. This is nothing more than seeking an opportunity to live in America and enjoy her largess. Whether it's for jobs to send money back home, a chance to bear an American citizen, a chance for an education and medical care etc. this mass migration is a failure of this administration to enforce border policy and has nothing whatsoever to do with asylum.

Very true. Lots of people do that to get to work and get little kids to school every day, twice a day. Both homeless and working people with families and homes do this.
I am fully permanently disabled and ill. Unable to work. It took me THREE YEARS to get any SSI/SSDI money despite being eligible.
It’s a bit crazy what they’re expecting. My grandparents went through the holocaust. They had to stay in DP camps in Europe until they got back on their feet with the health and found jobs to support themselves. When they eventually came to this country, they applied for citizenship like everyone else - and in those days, you had to have a job already lined up and guaranteed before you even made the trip here. All this was done with the help of non-profits. They ended up in Portland, OR for two years because that’s where the job for my grandfather was located until they found work and a couple of family members in NYC who survived the war and were already there. Btw, my mom was a year old when they came here. So because my grandfather already had work lined up, he was able to pay for rent like anyone else.
I really feel for people seeing asylum, but the expectations they have are ludicrous. Like if your circumstances were that bad or dangerous, you’ll do whatever it takes to escape- even if it means living in a tent city with less than stellar situation because it’s supposed to be better than what you endured. If you can turn your nose up at something free, then you shouldn’t be granted asylum because it clearly wasn’t that bad where you were. I don’t like to knock what some people go through in these countries, but I often think most of these people haven’t experienced anything to the degree where asylum is needed and should have to apply to enter this country to get citizenship like anyone else. They’re taking advantage of our democracy and asylum seekers laws, and then we end up with a massive problem when life isn’t handed on a silver platter. Yes, tent cities are not ideal. It’s not ideal to travel with kids to school so far. It’s not ideal to have outdoor showers in the winter (I live in NYC my entire life, before you say I don’t know what it’s like). But it’s the best we can do, and tons of people endure things like this and worse within our country every day.
I’m very liberal and generally want people to get help, but I have no sympathy for this kind of crap between what my grandparents endured and gladly worked hard to build both in Europe and here to EARN a better life after the holocaust, as well as my own situation where I have to beg for help for years to get a dime in my pocket, can’t get any added help to pay for costs with a medically necessary service dog who helps care for me, and added costs of living - and I live well below the poverty line. It’s just unacceptable for migrants who have supposedly already been in horrifying, oppressive conditions to turn their nose up when plenty of people here have contributed to society and really need and appreciate the help.

The difference between a quality life and a struggling life is what I pay in taxes every year. You're not struggling cause of taxes. You're struggling cause wages haven't kept up with inflation for over 50 years. That's the result, less spending power. Try to blame the right people here. 50 years ago, you could literally work a minimum wage job and buy a home and a car. Now a minimum wage job won't even get you groceries.
As for fending for themselves, that's pretty harsh. We spend money to help many people, including Ukraine and Israel. They aren't US citizens and yet your taxes are going to help them. Only difference is migrants here affect the economy when they pay sales or income tax. I know some migrants who work in a bodega, the owner certainly is happy because he can pay them less than a US citizen and he has the help he needs to run his business. We are the richest country in the world, so we can help them, Ukraine and pretty much anyone else.
Your problem is you think not helping them is somehow going to help you. That's wishful thinking. That money isn't going to go in your pocket. It's going to the wealthiest Americans as we continue this futile economic experiment known as trickle down.

Honestly, I think more and more people coming here are going to realize real quick how their situation at home (in their country) was not as bad as they thought, once they realize they are not getting the catering service they demand for illegally crossing over our open boarders.

That party in power promises to help those people, and convinces them that keeping that party in power allows the help to keep coming. That party in power is currently attempting to give this flood of needy people voting rights. (hopefully they are not successful) Finger on the scale of democracy. These are dangerous and very important times, indeed. I live in a very blue state, that is doing its best, right now, to give illegal immigrants the right to vote. I will do what I can to prevent that from happening, but those in power in my home state seem to not see those of us who live outside of Boston, as significant enough to consider. ( *allegedly* 🙄)

Considering what these illegal immigrants have already experienced (weather, walking, sleeping anywhere in any weather, pooping in farmers' fields, etc), the accommodations being offered have got to be an improvement. Is it what they expected or want? No. But it's what is available. Surely, the tent city has heaters. And the city will probably provide bus transportation to and from the area. Our own legal citizens are not treated as well nor given so much. I'm, frankly, exasperated with the whole illegal immigrants process. I came to America the legal way and others should be expected to also.

When they finally moved here my father worked 3 jobs my mother one she had 3 kids at the time then I came along years later no help from the government, no money no housing they did it all on their own. The difference is we are waiting across the street from 8 Jalisco New Generation Hitmen who live in the chop house (the safe house where they dismember people) right across the street from our house. The U.S. government refused to give us an expedited visa because we were not in danger.
