  • In this video Sean goes over how to fix that annoying under dash rattle in your 2014 - 2019 Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra. This is a very simple task that requires almost no automotive knowledge, and several basic tools.
First you will start by unscrewing the dash panel located under the steering wheel. Then, remove the panel taking extra care that you do not break any of the six clips holding the panel into place. Once removed, tighten down all of the loose screws. Once the loose screws are tight, replace the panel and screw it back in. Yes, it is that simple!

My rattle was caused by loose nuts on the battery brackets. Someone in this comments section mentioned this as a possible cause. So thanks to a comment on this video I was able to solve my rattle problem. My rattle clearly sounded as though it was coming from the dash near the windshield on the driver’s side. I would probably have bet money that the rattle was coming from that area. I watched this video and removed the cover plate beneath my steering wheel and was very disappointed to find that the 4 screws behind that panel were not loose. The rattle was DRIVING ME CRAZY! As I combed through the comments on this video I saw where someone mentioned that the battery bracket nuts could be loose. I thought there was no way that loose bracket nuts on the passenger side under the hood could cause a rattle that appeared to be from beyond the steering wheel. I found that one of my battery bracket nuts was loose. I tightened it. Problem solved. The rattle stopped completely.

Great video! Rattle was driving me nuts, and as many have said here, it was NOT where it sounded like it was coming from. I took out my whole media and climate control section to no avail... but that gave me a chance to solidify some of those modules with a padded tape because several of them were loose fit as well.

I had a vibration in the dash that would worsen at about 1600 to 1900 rpms.(2017 duramax). The heater core hoses were the cause of the problem. I zip tied the 2 hoses by the transition area from rubber to the heater core. This put some pressure on the lines and that silenced the vibration. Took me a month to figure it out.

My goodness... I'm hoping this is my issues. I thought it was something with the transmission. Took it to the shop and they said the rattle was my Torque converter and transmission needs to be replaced.. Did all that, pulled out of the shop got a little down the road and sure enough it still does it. Now I question if I really needed a new trans.... GRRRR. I noticed mine really only does this when its in V4 mode and just barley on the gas and as soon as I give it gas it goes away. I'll have to look into this tonight!!

By taking out the two fuses the temperature for the radiator started working, so we just got home without running the fans, weather is cool here. Will have to order the part and will let you know, might be awhile, because I work close to home and don’t need to run the fans yet.😊
