One of the clearest fork rebuild videos for the VFR. Thank you. Can you tell me the reason for the spring change and what the benefit of the Racetech spring chosen. How does the longer (heavier weight?) spring assist?
the reason i choose these springs is because when i did the research i never was able to find any bad reviews for them and they help with the performance of the bike. and it allows more progression in the spring.
Progressive rate springs have no place on road bikes, under hard braking the first 1/3 of the spring travel collapses immediately-it's like lossing that amount of travel all the time. Have springs rated to your on bike weight with half full tank is the optimum set to have, most japanese bikes are set up for riders around 75kg for someone 90kg+ its just too soft- its bottoming out, the spring should work in the midrange of load capacity, if you were to chart the suspension travel while riding in your normal riding enviroment/conditions. If your road is crap your better off with an adventure bike or duel sport- safer. Once your try normal rated for weight spring you'll be blown away by the difference to what Honda was giving you stock of the rack- FKW they don't up the spring rates for different markets! It's why I don't buy a new bike because I know have to redo the suspension on every bike I buy before its right. I am 95kg.
I'm about 92kg on vfr800 2015 model 32,000 I'm. The ride is ok however on corregated/choppy/bumpy concrete roads I do find the ride a little harsh. I have checking sag in spec and tried a range of preload and damper settings front and rear for little beneficial change. I have limited knowledge of what a good handling bike is meant to be. I expect the fork oil is old and needs replacement however I am checking if the springs need changing for my weight. I'm just after a stable, well sitting, safe, capable, relatively comfortable ride for 80% highway travel and just 20% sporty occasional twisty handling. Cheers.
The Racetech springs are stiffer than the stock springs. But the Racetech's have more progression, they absorb the small bumps and are stiffer for the bigger bumps in the road. the biggest difference is in the corners so it should help with your cornering problem.
Great video thx for posting; just joined the viffer set and as a chunkee munkee I am considering stiffening her up a bit😎👍

@@rukogarage4204 Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when I rebuild soon.

Race-tech sell you correct spring rate for your weight ive gone the gold values and springs in my 02 vfr800 . And have YSS rear shock.
Круто 😀
you could have just pulled the clipons off complete - no need to remove the levers.
and undo the top caps on the fork tube before looseing the pinch bolts else they may be too tight to undo safely one the forks are off.
Pretty sure u did the spacer all kinds of wrong 🤷♂️
