Through vintage amateur movies as well as archival Communist propaganda documentaries, this program turns back the clock to see what Tibet was like from the 1930s to 1950.
A thought provoking docu, inspite of his age the Dalai - Lama hasn't lost his sense of humour. What a dream the Tibetans must be dreaming of having a Independent nation. I do wish their wish may come true, in the meantime let them prosper in India and abroad. May they never leave their peaceful attitude.
Interesting documentary. Raises many other thoughts and questions. After 1:20 into this video: Why did the British leave Tibet, knowing that the Chinese would come in? With so many monks and elites in Tibet, who worked the land to provide them all with food and luxuries? Was the elite-class from the same etnicity as the ordinary Tibetans? They look more Mongolian. What was discussed with Mao? Did Mao offer a peacefull transition? Did Mao eventually condone that the young Dalai Lama would “escape” to India? Was there a deal with India before the “escape”? Was DL abstinence from politics part of the deal with Mao? Promised to be only religious leader? Mao considered religion a poison to the minds of the people, but did Mao see the benefits to keep the Tibetans peaceful? Who set fire to the treasury? Etc. etc.
China has no business in Tibet. All their presence has accomplished is more land for China. Mao, the first Comunfucist leader did not want a Soviet style state, he wanted to restore the China of the Chin dynasty. They conquered Tibet because Tibet’s armies kept attacking their borders. They held it until the Mongols came along, learned Buddhism from them and kicked the Chinese out. Communist China is very much more Confucian than communist. The average Tibetan still lives in poverty but no longer has the religious teaching that made it immaterial.
I'm not watching this nonsense, "The lost world of Tibet" ? Most of the people knew exactly where they were without satnav... Unlike today Dissappointing clickbait rhetoric ? Let's not be naive guys, it seems puerile to underestimate the ancestors.
@@davepowell7168Just to correct you the leader of Tibet, China is President Xi Jinping Of the People's Republic of China. That person in india is just a priest of his religion. He's been indian since he was a teenager. So the only thing he thinks of Tibet Autonomous region of People's Republic of China is that he was this jesus like figure. Other than that, those days of myths have long gone. Glory to Tibet Autonomous region of the People's Republic of China.
Many thanks for this wonderful documentary!

The Tibet's GDP per capita is about $9000. On the other side of Himalaya mountain, India's GDP per capita is $2800. hehe.

No loss there's still a Tibet in the People's Republic of China
But it’s not the same. Try living in your country under some foreign rule and then say that.
If you’re speaking of the us, we are living that right now!
Chinese Tibet without autonomy, religious leader in exile
