Hey Dr Langley ! - that was a cool insight to the cartels of villains who've been a thorn in Bruce Wayne's backside for decades ! I would love to see more videos like this, I really liked it! I would love to see every avengers movie villain analyzed. There are so many good ones there as well. You could also do one for the villains of X-Men, Superman, Spiderman, etc...
He ought to make another video analyzing the villains in BTAS, the psychological profiles of the villains in that show have a much more solid foundation than in any of the movies.
Tommy Lee’s Two-face did have a least one line as Harvey Dent: When he thanked Bruce for reminding him about his coin. That line stood out to me when I saw it as a kid.
About Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face. He said he didn’t really care abt the role and just did it for the money. Which I respect because at least he was honest. But it shows why he was just one person.
Psychiatrist, not therapist. Her job was to diagnose and treat mental illness pharmacologically, not to provide therapy. Important distinction, as mental patients really need to have access to both.
I wasn't sure I'd like this vid but I really liked Dr. Langley's passion both as a psychologist and a Batman fan. Also, he looks like Dr. Hugo Strange to me which is kinda funny, nice vid!
It's interesting that he didn't touch at all on the domestic abuse angle of Harley & Joker's relationship? She reminds me of an intelligent woman I know who was unlucky enough to get into marriage with a severely narcissistic, gaslighting guy. Of the emotionally abusive type who seem to prefer to find a strong empathetic woman and attack her self-worth, rather than the physical abuser's pattern of targeting a woman who's already vulnerable due to prior abuse, substance addiction, poor self esteem etc...?
Bank manager: "What do you believe, huh?" Joker: "I believe that whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you...stranger." Best line, followed by "Why so serious, son?"
That analysis about Ledger's Joker seems to support the theory that he is a former soldier/agent/spy who was horribly disfigured before veering off the deep end. Maybe he was prescribed anti-psychotic meds one time only to find that the government has cut off his meds due to budget cuts.
Heath Ledger's Joker . One of the analyse suggested he may be a former Veteran with PTSD disorder not a psychopaths because he have no self-preservation instinct . He doesn't hesitate to hurt himself .
Wow, I'm very surprised he correctly cited Harley Quinn's New 52 + Rebirth Solo Series family dynamic (Very Supportive Mother, Con-Artist Father). People never really care to delve into those stories seriously, but I think there is a lot to be said for how her family is portrayed in it and how that contributed to Harley as a person ^-^.
I think was also the same before the New 52, as in "Gotham Sirens" she goes to visit her father in prison, telling him that she was motivated to study psychology in order to understand why he was the way he was. I remember one panel because her father might have been made to look like a younger Jack Nicholson, as the Burtonverse (Earth-89!) would have introduced her as Jack Napier's daughter.
Would have been even better if Gotham's ver. of these characters were added to the analysis... I honestly felt multiple villains were portrayed best in this show

Yes! I just asked that after seeing this video. There were so many. Of course Penguin, Riddler, Tech, the former Chief Of Police, Dumont, Zazz, etc.
I did too! And I do too!
Agree
"... everybody except the Joker, because we've seen a whole lot of Joker lately."
Okay, sure, Travis. 😂😂
id love to see you guys do this same type of video with star wars characters, especially anakin!
Max Shreck didn’t grow up wealthy. He was a self-made man.
5:36 is all i came for. Health's Joker is AMAZING🙌
Sure is. I was absolutely blown away by Mr. Ledger's characterization. Now I have to get out my DVD.
Would love to see an analysis of the heroes next. This was well done.
A psychologist take on Batman's Rogues. This topic I have seen discussed before but this was the best one I've ever seen. Good video.
This was a great video , BATMAN is my favorite superhero of all time
Tommy Lee’s Two-face did have a least one line as Harvey Dent: When he thanked Bruce for reminding him about his coin.
That line stood out to me when I saw it as a kid.
Hey WIRED! Timestamps are the new standard and would really really complete this video! You should add them 😁
Looked for them as well. Unsucrssfull of course
@@crestfallenwarrior5719 😔
About Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face.
He said he didn’t really care abt the role and just did it for the money.
Which I respect because at least he was honest.
But it shows why he was just one person.
He forgot to Mention that Harley was a Therapist Too!
Psychiatrist, not therapist. Her job was to diagnose and treat mental illness pharmacologically, not to provide therapy. Important distinction, as mental patients really need to have access to both.
Amazing!
Thank you Wired!
The Joker was in The Batman though, played by Barry Keoghan, so basically 4/4 of the main villains were in The Batman
LOL at "The Bat, The Cat, and The Chilly Little Bird"!!
I wasn't sure I'd like this vid but I really liked Dr. Langley's passion both as a psychologist and a Batman fan. Also, he looks like Dr. Hugo Strange to me which is kinda funny, nice vid!
At the end of the day I think most fans can agree, that when it comes to the best portrayal of any Batman villain, BtAS wins every time.
That’s what I like about Harley Quinn, I’ve never seen her being anything but herself. She’s a little crazy but she owns it
It's interesting that he didn't touch at all on the domestic abuse angle of Harley & Joker's relationship? She reminds me of an intelligent woman I know who was unlucky enough to get into marriage with a severely narcissistic, gaslighting guy. Of the emotionally abusive type who seem to prefer to find a strong empathetic woman and attack her self-worth, rather than the physical abuser's pattern of targeting a woman who's already vulnerable due to prior abuse, substance addiction, poor self esteem etc...?
@@annastevens1526 that’s true and I feel he left out that important detail
this is really good episode. thanks
Heath's joker was a psychologist himself, the kind I'd like to have an appointment with.
@@TreeSymphony52 He's not being serious he's joking
Bank manager: "What do you believe, huh?" Joker: "I believe that whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you...stranger." Best line, followed by "Why so serious, son?"
Holy cow this is a good video, I really like how he knows the comics behind them
“this joker is a punk” showed how bad it was
The only line i remembered by the joker in suicide squad was “hunka hunka!”
That analysis about Ledger's Joker seems to support the theory that he is a former soldier/agent/spy who was horribly disfigured before veering off the deep end. Maybe he was prescribed anti-psychotic meds one time only to find that the government has cut off his meds due to budget cuts.
one of the best analysis, thanks doc
This is so nice ! I want to see this kind of content again and again 🙂
I wish he would do this again but for *The Batman Movie that will be in theatres soon seems like a lot for a psychologist to sink their teeth into
The majority of his book is dedicated to this
Heath Ledger's Joker .
@@schoolfreak32 Oh, interesting! Was there anything about her Mother?
That would give her a really interesting similarity with Stephanie Brown, and I'd love to see that explored in a story
@@Emily-ye1rj omg iconic idea.
Lol as soon as it showed two-face I received an advertisement about skin care😂
Plot twist, this dude is actual doctor Hugo Strange.
I'm not admitting to anything.
This is brilliant!! Really thorough!
Would have been even better if Gotham's ver. of these characters were added to the analysis... I honestly felt multiple villains were portrayed best in this show
Technically they're just covering movie stuff
WOW! This was really well put together!
13:03 poor tommy lee. He was too busy trying to get Jim cary's energy that he didn’t try just making a good character. Two faced is meant to be damaged. He is ment to be the grown up. Obsessed with duality and chance, because chance is fair in an unfair world.
Next up,a comprehensive psychological analysis of Batman.
@Wired I love these psychology breakdowns! PLEASE can you do one of these for Love is Blind?!
Would like a video with Dr Curry answering questions about psychology, she was so well spoken and easy to understand in the trial
Me: I mean, what is insanity anyway amiright? What's that? Oh you're actually going to tell me?
That was wonderful! Thank you, Wired and Dr. Langley. Now I gotta add that book to my collection!
I'd love to see this same breakdown but with Gotham
Would like to see him analyzing all of the TV versions of Batman villains, actually.
Agree!
This was awesome. Thanks!
