I have 2 questions for you if I may... Firstly, would it be possible for you to show the chart that appeared for a second @3:05 in the video which showed a number of foods and drinks along the top, above a graph showing their acidic/alkaline(?) values, and talk a bit about which to avoid and which to consume more of to promote good oral health.
Secondly, @ 4:45 you said that after eating anything it's best to try and clear as much of the food from the mouth as possible. How are you suggesting to do that as I understand from recent studies that I've read that it's not good to brush the teeth within one hour of eating or drinking because food and drinks soften the enamel on the teeth, therefore it's best to wait an hour before brushing. What is your advice on this?

Hello doctor and dear followers, I would like to give you a concrete case verified by life. My great-grandmother, in Romania, 100 years ago, didn't have any kind of toothpaste or toothbrush, but she knew from her ancestors that after they finished eating, they dipped their finger in rock salt, without added iodine, and massaged their gums for 2-3 minutes, after which rinse with a single mouthful of water. At the age of 78, he had intact teeth, without ever having been to the dentist.

I know several dentists whose grown children and grand children have never had a filling in their lives, due to simply not eating sugar. In the 1970s and '80s while attending a large dental training hospital, we were taught that sugar is the vital ingredient in tooth decay. Without sugar, the bacteria cannot thrive and produce acid to decay the teeth. At the time, we had many human skulls of most races from around the world that were used for teaching and research purposes. Most came from India. Even though they had not cleaned their teeth, the Indian skulls had a full dentition of teeth with no decay because the individuals had not eaten sugar. We also had skulls from hunter gather people with worn down teeth from a lifetime of chewing tough and gritty food but they had no tooth decay either, because they also did not eat sugar. Nowadays, our western "experts" tend to play down sugar as the vital ingredient in tooth decay, blaming instead, the bacteria that feeds on the sugar, as Dr. Andrew Huberman does in the above video. Meanwhile, our multibillion dollar sugar and dental industries continue to grow, with one destroying and one repairing human teeth in a type of symbiotic relationship.

    • @gabrielosorto4789
      @gabrielosorto4789 วันที่ผ่านมา

That’s due to the fact that the actual sugar alone does not cause cavities, but the bacteria feeding on the sugar does. So, in theory, as long as you keep the bacteria in control, you can live a life with sugar and have no cavities. Yes, sugar feeds the bacteria, but the sugar is not the actual cause of the cavities.

This toothpaste already has 25% Xylitol, flouride free, and contains lime and coriander herb essential oils. Mixing the fine powder Xylitol with the squirt of toothpaste and applied on the teeth with a soft toothbrush is not only keeping the bateria at bay but seems to be whitening my teeth as well. I also massage my gum with the paste. I've managed to stop the buildup of plaque! It may also be remineralising my teeth!

I've been using baking soda as a face scrub for decades. I started because the fine commercial scrub I liked went off the market. My face feels so smooth and silky. If I don't use about once a week my face feels yucky. I advise anyone who might try this don't scrub too vigorously in the beginning. I keep my baking soda in a plastic flour shaker (with a bit of rice to soak up any moisture) in the bathroom - very convenient.

Baking soda is too abrasive. If you are truly avoiding toothpaste just use water and a soft toothbrush.
Fluoride remineralizes tooth structure broken down by oral acidity. Frequency and length of your mouth exposed to acids (from actually acidic foods or carbohydrates) is the concern.
      Don't swallow Fluoride.
I can not attest to alcohol being an issue beyond acidity.
The toothbrush, floss, oral irrigation (waterpik) are the main ways to combat demineralization, cavities and periodontal disease. Disrupt the biofilm!

It is also correct that mouth washes with alcohol is damaging.
Proper tooth brushing: yes. 2 cm, 2 minutes, 2 times a day
Soft brush, aim 45 degrees aiming where tooth and gum intersect.
Floss before brushing to prevent abrasion and increase remineralization.
Xylotol fills the bacterias ‘intestines’ without giving it ‘energy’. Hence, starves out. Not necessarily kill them, most survives.
Bicarbonate has huge crystals. Used as tooth paste it is too abrasive. Can be used as a mouth wash to remove fungus. More than that yes, theoretically it is good to use.

@peterezzell3865 if you are rinsing away fluoride - no. Do not recommend rinsing after brushing with fluoride or any other mineral paste intended for tooth remineralization. Highly recommend a waterpik before brushing. You could add the xylitol to the irrigation fluid.

Xylitol was in allot of things and was the bomb on the market.
Xylitol can cause cancer. Xylitol can cause diarrhea.
My best advise is: dont go with the wave. Research it yourself, snd kniw what you are putting in your body and what it can do. The fda and some of these industries would love for you to make them even more money.
The fda will ok a product - apparently befor its total effects are even known.

I learned the hard way about alcohol and oral health. If you are a heavy drinker (like I was) and keep getting major cavities and perhaps even root canals and tooth extractions (like I did) maybe think about getting sober. Haven't had a tooth problem since I quit alcohol and started chewing xylitol after meals.

Oh this is hilarious. My entire family would get on me for not brushing my teeth twice a day, and sometimes not at all. I've never had a cavity. My entire immediate family have all had at least one cavity. My mom had a couple, and root canal. One of my brothers had several cavities, some teeth removed, etc.
I learned at a young age in my own that apples really worked. Before church on Sunday mornings I'd just eat an apple or literally scrape my teeth with my finger nails (cleaned finger nails).
My reasoning was all that stuff burned and I was just like, not for me 😅 So if it wasn't my tongue, or nails doing the cleaning, it was apples. I also didn't drink a lot of sodas. That's mostly how they got bad teeth. I got used to drinking water in elementary school. I ate a salad for school lunch, and would trade my chocolate milk for half a slice of pizza or whatever protein they had on the menu. Salad first, meat and idk really not much carbs. Not eating carbs is probably why I slept in class a lot 😅
39, still look like I'm in my early 20s. 0 issues. I do need to be more consistent with a tongue scraper. Keep things simple, maintain movement daily, and do things in order with purpose. Your body will thank you later. I can still do everything my younger self could. Pretty much everyone I know my age operate like they're much older. Don't stop being a kid. Mature, but find a way to still be a kid. It'll save you from a lot of stress, anxiety, and depression

    • @Beestieboy1
      @Beestieboy1 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Absolutely not. Enamel, the outer covering of the tooth, is the hardest substance in the body. Far harder than bone. Intact enamel is not damaged by probing (the picking at the teeth). They are checking for cavitations, holes, soft spots, decalcifications, and defects. If the dental explorer (probe) sticks into the tooth, they found an issue but did not create that with light hand pressure and a thin metal tool. That is greatly underestimating the strength of intact enamel.

I worked this out 25 years ago and had all my fillings taken out.
It took me years to change my body's systems and stop the rot.
In the meantime I learnt to remineralise the surfaces from time to time, and then the cavities would reopen later because I had not changed my eating and oral hygiene habits enough.
In the end it was all worth it. I still have no fillings in my teeth. I'm proud of it.
It makes me more resilient, and saves me a lot of time and money.
    Praise be to God.
Back then I asked 25 dentists about their own teeth. None of those were cavity-free.
I realised they didn't know how to stop cavities.
The 26th dentist had no cavities but said that she didn't know how to heal her own teeth or anyone else's, and that she could only apply what she learned at dentistry school and so would not be able to help me heal my teeth.
I read Dr Robert Nara's book Dentally Self-Sufficient.

Thank you for someone finally addressing this issue. Much of these modern m outh care products are such a marketing scam.
I used baking soda for many years with great results and use salt as a mouth wash. About a little finger nail size of salt and a small sip of water and then swish for as long as you like. I def prefer Himalayan or sea salt. You can use the salt after eatjng as well. A very convenient mouth wash. I never floss and I also think my brushing technique helps, that is down strokes on the inside and outside. It acts like floss if done well. Amd i use a soft brush. I am now in sri lanka and use a tooth powder, they have many different types all with natural ingredients such as cinnamon. I have one difficentcy I would say. That is quite sensitive to citrus or anything else that is slightly acid. But swishing with salt immediately neutralizes it.

I make my own mouthwash with a base of xylitol Stevia and the baking soda form of vitamin C, sodium ascorbate … Then I add a little grapefruit seed extract liquid for preservation and my preferred essential oils, and a large glass bottle with distilled water :-) this was a great breakdown to help people understand the mechanisms behind these chemical and biological reactions. Thank you!

Just curious about your opinion on oil pulling using coconut oil. I do oil pulls with about a full teaspoon for about 10 minutes before bed. Really love the way my teeth feel after the pulls.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in most toothpaste can cause painful mouth ulcers. My hygienist just recommended baking soda and a 50 percent mixture of 3% hydrogen peroxide to water.

I had mouth sores after being sick as a child, my dentist recommended diluted peroxide 25% to 75% water, followed by Cepacol mouthwash which was very soothing. I still do this when things don't feel right.

I love your info and watch you often but with all due respect and being a dentist of 35 years I’d like to clear up something. The every 6 month visits has zero medical background! It was adopted from a toothpaste commercial in the 40s or 50s. Science has proven a number of times that the bacteria in the mouth damages the periodontal tissues if it is not removed within 90 days.
So the biofilm must be disrupted by your dental team every 90 days. Very healthy people can possibly go 60 months but in my experience very few new patients at least are very healthy.
Every 6 months is an insurance scam and nothing more.
Again I love your material and I think you did an awesome job I would add the use of a waterpik when considering gum or periodontal health. For many people I would recommend that over flossing considering that the floss primarily cleans the contact point between teeth and the convex surfaces of the curvy convex shaped roots.
    Just my thoughts
    Great job all in all

Yes look up dr Ellie Phillips; she is a retired dentist and makes her own brand of xylitol gum which you don't have to buy but she is an expert on xylitol; she will site studies.

I dissolve xylitol sweetener from Amazon in water and just swish and spit throughout the day. I put half cup xylitol in a cup and a half water.

The Spry Xylitol toothpaste recommended is loaded with silica, which is highly abrasive and removes the enamel on your teeth. It's the third ingredient listed after purified water and glycerin. I sent it back immediately.

Dentist Ellie Phillips recommends a nanohydroxyapatite toothpaste called Boka for remineralization. She recommends against flossing. She says she hasn't had a cleaning in 45 years, and her teeth are dazzling.

If you don't floss you should be using an oral irrigation like waterpik. You may still need cleanings as calculus accumulation is different person to person. Some get none, some need cleanings a few times a year.

Interesting. Do you happen to remember where she recommended it and maybe provide a title or something so that I can search for it? I guess links would not work here in the comment section.
I watched quite a few of her videos and in the comment section of one of them she got asked what she thinks of Hydroapatite in toothpastes and she answered a few month back (not so long ago) that she didn't recommend this ingredient and that it was also not allowed in the European Union. Would love to find out the context and the reason behind these two different recommendations.

Read "food and physical degeneration" by Weston A. Price, 1939. Ancient civilizations did not need floss, toothbrushes, or dentists etc. They had perfect teeth, strong good fitting, broad jaws. They exactly knew what to eat, with lots of vitamins, by ancient nutritional wisdom. That changed rapidly after they got in contact "modern" civilization, eating refined sugar, white flour and refined seed oils. Within one generation that deformed jaws, caused carries and God knows what kind of other degeneration. That scientific research was carried out throughout the world, very well documented and ...... Swept under the carpet. Just like so many other health knowledge that has one thing in common: you can't make a lot of profit with it.
Ask your dentist if he or she knows the research of Weston A Price. Mine didn't....

Oh wow, my dental health has got worse and i couldn't figure out why. Despite improving my brushing, using a water pic, yet I now have bleeding and they dont feel good in my gums. Bever had any cavities. I am on prescribed stimulants for 4 yrs. But I am certainly not on enough to make me mouth breath like an addict 😅 and actually by having my meds im more likely to be organised enough to properly do my dental hygiene (rather than quick rushed brush as I am running late!!). But good to know acidity incr potential by stimulants. I've recently started xylitol (this week), mints, chewing gum & waiting to start mouthwash too.
