    This is a great kit for beginners and seasoned pros alike, it would also make an ideal project for parents who want to teach their children how to work with electronics.
    This robot car kit has the following features:
    4-wheel Arduino-based design
    IR Remote Control
    Bluetooth Remote Control
    Collision Avoidance
    Line Following
    Rechargeable LiPo batteries
    No soldering, drilling, or cutting required
    It’s a typical Arduino-based design so even if you aren’t using this specific kit I think you’ll find a lot of useful information for any Arduino robot in this video and the two that follow it. As always there is a corresponding article on the DroneBot Workshop website to help you out.
    Because of all of the features of the robot car I’ve decided to split this into three videos and articles. In this video, I will go over the features of the robot car kit and then I’ll show you how to assemble it and give it a quick test.
    In the next video, I will show you how to use the IR and Bluetooth remote control. The final video will cover the collision avoidance and line following features.
    Here is what will be covered in this first video:
    00:00 - Introduction
    02:29 - Robot Car Kit Unboxing
    07:44 - Elegoo Smart Robot Car features
    09:18 - A look at the individual components
    16:07 - Assembly Introduction
    16:54 - Motor Mounts & motors to chassis
    20:53 - L298N Mount
    24:48 - Line Follow Sensor mount
    27:43 - Arduino to top chassis & shield
    31:14 - Battery compartment
    33:48 - Servo Motor
    36:09 - Ultrasonic Sensor
    39:47 - Cable & wiring
    44:01 - Bluetooth module & Tires
    45:07 - Sample Arduino Code
    51:21 - Robot Car Test
    This is the first of three videos so stay tuned for the next one. If you haven’t subscribed to the channel yet please do, that way you’ll be informed when the next video is published. And while you are in the subscribing mood please sign up for the DroneBot Workshop Newsletter.

    Neat little product--it's too bad though that they didn't use something like the Mega2560 instead, as that would have given them more than one hardware serial port. I would think that you would then be able to have the BT module on Serial1, and thus be able to use the USB-based Serial port to help debug your BT code.
    Overall though, a really cool little unit.

      @@vinayagarwal9567 The robot car I built last year had an L298N based H bridge motor driver. I still experiment with that car from time to time and I'm thinking about replacing the L298N with a TB6612FNG. There is a video here in the DroneBot series that compares both devices and lots of tutorials all over TH-cam. They're also easy to find on Amazon or the typical Chinese sites.

    Bill, I wish I could give this video a second thumbs up, but TH-cam doesn't allow that. It's now 0052 on 01 Jan 2022 and I was given an Elegoo v4 Smart Robot Car as a Christmas present, so I'm rewatching these videos and rereading the articles before starting in on it. I have to laugh, but my OCD will probably make me correct their misspellings in their code, if its still as bad as it was for v3! ;D (However, at least _they_ are multilingual, while I get by in my own native language, so I applaud anyone that does a fair-to-decent job at writing in a second (or third or...) language!)

    Totally worth buying the Eleegoo instead of a Banggood copy. It’s hard to add your review comments after you get a chance to try to use it. The Banggood is a collection of parts not a kit. Leaves user struggling with wrong wires hardware and nothing fits. Most people will give up as no instructions and hard to match to TH-cam videos. Unless you are experienced with a ton of tools and patience!

    This is great, Thank you! Unfortunately, for someone who is "brand new", and I mean, this is their first time ever touching an Arduino, or using the development IDE, there is one missing piece. This is not a criticism, but a suggestion. Let me explain.
    I received and built V4.0 of the car. Everything went together perfectly. Now, if I understand correctly, ALL of the software is already uploaded on this Arduino Uno. I believe, if I were to upload any other sketches to test or experiment with any sensors, I will overwrite whatever sketches are already on the car. I suspect that I need to download a backup copy of the sketch(es) already installed to a safe place so that I can re-upload them in order to restore all of the function. This is the part I do not know how to do.
    So my suggestion is to include a "Backup Existing Sketches" step that comes right after "Bluetooth and Tires", but before "Sample Code". A complete Arduino amateur / novice like me could really benefit from this.
    Thank you again for a great video!!!

    • @laly0033
      @laly0033 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arduino Uno only holds one sketch at a time. I just went to the ELEGOO website and the code + tutorials are downloadable from there. From briefly looking at the documentation it seems the preloaded sketch is the one called AUTO_GO.

    • @peterpoggi
      @peterpoggi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laly0033 Thank you so much for your reply - it's amazing how much I've learned in the two weeks since I posted that comment. Yes, now I understand that what's stored in the Arduino is actually machine code, and I did find the complete set of source code. I've since successfully installed and reinstalled both the Robot Car base code and the IDE multiple times now. I think that there is an assumption on the manufacturers part that the consumer already has a certain level of understanding of the "moving parts".

  • @flingmonkey5494

    Nit-picky critique: If they had threaded the holes in the motor mount block then the nuts would not have been needed and you would not have had to get pliers. BTW: The only reason I am not ordering this cool kit right now is that I bought an older version a couple of years ago, built it, and had a blast with it, Unfortunately there is no need for me to buy the new and updated kit, dang it.

  • @jeffmasnaghetti4472
    @jeffmasnaghetti4472 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ah-HA! You said no more tools would be needed, but you used a pair of pliers that did not come with the kit. No, don't argue, you know that without some way to firmly hold those little nuts the car would not have held together (at least that was my experience when I built this kit..) That said, this is a wonderful kit and a wonderful introduction to the Arduino. I recommend it highly. Thank you for these videos. A little side note, for learning to program the Arduino, try looking for a C programming tutorial online, even on TH-cam. You don't have to take the entire course, just about the first half will do to get you familiar with basic commands and programming structure. Many basic C commands work in the Arduino, including string manipulation routines, even "sprintf" (to a limited degree.) The Arduino programs that come with this kit work well enough to whet your appetite, but badly enough to beg improvement. For instance, for obstacle avoidance, after you have the car turning properly and tripping down the hall, have the ultrasonic sensor look left and right (as well as forward) to sense if the car is getting too close to the wall. I programmed one of the buttons of the IR controller to make the car do a little dance.

    • @England91
      @England91 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would also have motors additional for better turning so the motors for driving the wheels be under less stress as well

    • @jeffmasnaghetti4472
      @jeffmasnaghetti4472 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@England91 Actually, one of the biggest changes I would make to the design would be to place the ultrasonic sensor a little closer to the ground, or give the car some other way to detect the toe of my shoe in front of it. With this design the ultrasonic sensor looks out over my show and does not see it. Another fix would be to mount three ultrasonic sensors, one on the servo as now, but two more fixed at right angles to detect an oblique approach to the wall. Then the servo-mounted sensor could look a little left and right, but it would not need to swing 180 degrees to detect walls. That takes a lot of time and detection is spotty.
