I am NOT running a contest! Responses and emails that seem to be from me are fake. It's a scam to obtain your personal information, please don't respond.
Hi everyone - It's come to my attention that there has been someone masquerading as myself, responding to some comments here with a link to a Telegram chat to win a prize from me. THIS IS A SCAM, I am not holding a contest, nor do I have a Telegram account. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE MESSAGES!! It's happening on a lot of my videos, I'm taking steps to remove them manually, but as I have 162 videos, it will take some time. If you do run across a suspicious comment, I would appreciate you letting me know at info@dronebotworkshop.com. Thanks! Bill (The real one!)
I'm curious, are you adding trigger words that when found, blocks a chan automatically? They do seem to follow common tactics, like phone numbers not being actual numbers, but graphic "emojis" with numbers on them.
@@edinfific2576 I've heard about something like that, but as I don't do videos, I'm not sure how that works. Does it have the ability, let's say, for someone to add a very specific word or phrase that only are in the scammer's text, then have it scan through all videos on the channel to auto remove the scammer? Then, future block automatically?
There is no shortage of miscreants out there and it upsets me to no end when some of the best and most valuable channels fall victim. Won't hold it against you. Years and years of teaching me how to do stuff earns you a LOT of wiggle room. I can only speak for myself, but I say NO WORRIES and ty for the heads up.
It takes no effort. The gains are insane. Soon multimodal AI Agents will run all the scams more effectively with zero input from the scammer. It could be done now.
naw effort made makes less, you gotta bait the super super super stupid people then they're more likely to fall for it. That's why emails have spelling mistakes all over too, it's by design. People smart enough not to fall for the scam back off just by the spelling mistakes so it doesn't waste the scammers time. Tons of youtube videos with true heroes that mess with these scammers for several hours and waste real peoples time. Otherwise it's just a spam bot and no time wasted for them.
I think we all always win a lot just having your amazing content to learn from, every time! But I guess there is still people out there that could trust even the most stupid scam, so it is a really good thing to openly warn viewers. Very well done, thanks for all your efforts Bill!
This is incredibly sad. 😢 If these people were putting the same energy in doing deeds good as they are running evil scams, their fellow citizens would all have indoor plumbing by now. Thank you for the transparency. This is highly appreciated.
Thank you! It's sad to see scam's around the internet and harming both people putting up good work on the internet and non suspecting people loosing their hard earned money. I hope as many as possible of your viewers get this information.
Yea no limit to human stupidity but honestly his viewership has to be above average, as with many of these DIY circuitry videos. It's far more surprising with that type of viewership I wonder how the people were gonna not accidentally off themselves with a soldering iron
Have heard of this happening to alot of content creators. Sorry to hear that you have had to deal with it. Thanks for putting out a warning order in regards to what has come to light.
It happens to nearly all creators and isn’t reflective of him by any measure. However it’s our job to exercise minimal common sense and protect ourselves. The people who fell for it learned a hard lesson. Not just on the scam, the real world, about their own vulnerable naivety. Unfortunately some will get scammed agin. As obvious as these scams are to spot through the entire process it’s inevitable that those whom failed to recognize the obvious signs will certainly be taken agin, if not by the same scam then by something else. The internet is a dangerous and deceitful place. Some people just don’t belong. (If any of us belong)
Geesh! Sorry to hear this. Seems there is a new scam around every corner. I delete at least several emails a day that come off as scam; especially when the scammer cant even spell TH-cam or Amazon correctly. Stay safe.
I've gotten a few Telegram contact requests in response to my occasional comments. Since I ignore Telegram, links, and all other social media, I don't remember if any were from "your" channel. I don't use social media very much (I have a few friends on Facebook), but otherwise avoid everything. My rule of thumb is that I DON'T follow ANY links, and I don't believe ANYTHING I see/read on the internet. Except, of course for content from Drone Bot Workshop -- that is always good stuff! Thanks, Bill.
Thanks for the Heads Up Bill. I think the majority of subscribers were probably already aware of these shady thieves. Never hurts to shine a light on it though. Awaiting next week's video. Thank you.
After been scammed once for a couple hundred dollars, if I don't recognize the sender or the offer is you have won a prize, I immediately delete them. Or if I have another way ( proven) of contacting the sender and get confirmation they sent it, I delete it. Best of luck getting over this hurdle.
This scam has been going on for quite a while now.. almost every channel I am subbed to I have been sent this message.. I just always ignore them, used to report them but TH-cam does not care..
Most of the people whom fell for this don’t enter giveaways either. Most of the time such as this very instance there’s no giveaway to apply for, thus no victim had entered. There is no giveaway. These people often assume (naively) that they where randomly selected. Then they fail to identify the rest of the obvious signs that it’s clearly not legit.
Scammers are EVERYWHERE !! The sad thing is that some people that fall for it, then blame the real content creator. It's bad enough that we get 1 victim, but the CC are victims too.
What a sorry state of affairs! I really enjoy these videos, I've used the Signetics NE555 since 1975 when I was 14 and built my first project a square wave oscillator. Astable mode of course, it made harmonics up to VHF as a signal injector for radio and TV fault finding. Recently I used them as PWM's to control the brightness of LED Christmas light sets using them to drive BD 167 Darlington (Super Alpha Pair) in constant current configuration. They are phenomenal IC's. Great for touch switches with automatic de-bounce.
Give no personal information without verifying who you are giving info to, once your identity is compromised it is a nightmare over a period of years and the service of a competent attorney will be required!!!
No iPhone? Damn. 😮 I will say it would be nice if there was some way to stop this sort of thing but the proliferation of these scammers says I guess not. I’m pretty sure you would have mentioned it in the video if you were having a contest. So there’s an oscilloscope contest? 😊 thanks Bill, looking forward to the next video, my interest is peaked.
I would never give my personal info to anyone who out of the blue asked for it. However I did fall recently for a false website setup as an online store. Fortunately I caught on fast enough (same day) to have my payment reversed.
You mentioned some power fails, is this a sign to do a video on making a battery from prismatic cells and then a video on building a UPS to convert the battery DC to household AC? And of course an AC charger.
This scam is pervasive in the 2A community also… between there, electronic sites and computer sites, I’ve received over 30 of these scam attempts in the last year
I see these all the time on other channels. I report them and the comment disappears. If I look at it in another browser window not logged in, the comment is back. That means TH-cam is pretending to hide the comment to placate me.
thanx drone Bot for this awareness video, i also fell for the same scammer last year pretending to be sedhi from the electro boom channel wanting to gift me an iphone and mac book prices on telegram 😅 i realized later that if sedhi gives out prizes its mostly key sight oscilloscopes or electronics not "iphones" and he first announces it on his channel. Guys be vigilant this scammer is also doing the same thing for other youtube channels and they always use the comment section to target you
I assume that all emails, all text messages, and all phone calls are scams until proven otherwise. Most postal mail goes in the trash unopened and doesn’t even come into the house.
Thx for the warning, but having many channels on my watch list these kind of “winnings” are common on TH-cam. I try always to report them, and TH-cam could purge this nuisance. Apparently they don’t care…
Everyone should also be aware that it's not just this channel this happens to. Any channel with a significant following gets someone to run this same type of scam.
Scammers are really annoying! For instance, I keep seeing a deep fake of Elon Musk selling bitcoin. How they can keep that up? I wish the mechanisms to detect scam were as efficient as the ones that strike creators on alleged copyright issues.
Bill I’m sorry you, and do many other legitimate content providers, are putting up with this nonsense. Thank you for the warning and mostly thank you for your outstanding content!!!
A lot of channels see attacks like that done by bots and -heh- drones... 😅 Scammers, if the attacks were done by hand, but slowly I get the impression they are automated. People learn in several ways. Hopefully by getting warned.
Yes i got one of the emails or notifications. I am familiar with this scam, because two other channels I am subscribed to, have been copied or hacked as well.
You're not the only one. Chris Barnatt (Explaining Computers) put up a video this week with exactly the same message. We've known you long enough to know these scams are nothing to do with you. It's amazing that people must still fall for them, the thought of getting something for nothing I guess. See you next week!
I hate that TH-cam allows comment spamming. My mom's baking channel had this exact same scam. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that a human can't send 1,000 replies per minute. Twitter had this problem too until Elon fixed it.

There is an automated tool that a TH-camr ThioJoe has made to remove comments by certain rules you set, saving you alot of time and effort.
I'm curious, are you adding trigger words that when found, blocks a chan automatically?
They do seem to follow common tactics, like phone numbers not being actual numbers, but graphic "emojis" with numbers on them.

Ok, I get it, that's a scam. But if I send you bitcoin you will still send me back double right?
yeah! that fraudster messaged me also..
Sorry this kind of thing happens to dedicated, hard-working content providers like you. Thanks for hanging in.
Wait a minute, you're not a Nigerian Princess!?
I guess this means the wedding is off... .. . 😅
Does that mean you won't be sending me the banking details you promised me? 😘
@@Dronebotworkshop 😅😂🤣😅😂🤣
OMG you guys are funny! !
Love it!
LOL!
😂😂
She's cheating on me?

Not on this channel, but on all the channels I watch, if I find that type of scam, I automatically report it. It is a plague and we must all end it.
yep been going on 5+ years on youtube, they don't care to solve it
If they would only put that much effort into doing something legal they would probably make a lot more money.
It takes no effort. The gains are insane. Soon multimodal AI Agents will run all the scams more effectively with zero input from the scammer. It could be done now.

It is great that you to give a heads up to those that don't understand scammers.
Thank you for clarification and honesty as well as informing your subscribers.
Thank you! It's sad to see scam's around the internet and harming both people putting up good work on the internet and non suspecting people loosing their hard earned money. I hope as many as possible of your viewers get this information.
Just don’t let it affect what you do because what you do is brilliant
It's more surprising that anyone would fall for such a scam.
Yea no limit to human stupidity but honestly his viewership has to be above average, as with many of these DIY circuitry videos. It's far more surprising with that type of viewership I wonder how the people were gonna not accidentally off themselves with a soldering iron
You are a man of honor and intelligence and have been extremely helpful to me with your videos. Thanks for the warning!
Have heard of this happening to alot of content creators. Sorry to hear that you have had to deal with it. Thanks for putting out a warning order in regards to what has come to light.
Tnx for the heads up! I have not seen this interloper as of yet!👍
Don’t worry about it too much. You are doing an amazing job!!
So sorry to hear that this has happened to you. Decent people like you do not need this criminal element.
It happens to nearly all creators and isn’t reflective of him by any measure. However it’s our job to exercise minimal common sense and protect ourselves. Thanks for the disclaimer and so sorry about that cheat of a person. I love your content always.
Geesh! Sorry to hear this. Seems there is a new scam around every corner. I delete at least several emails a day that come off as scam; especially when the scammer cant even spell TH-cam or Amazon correctly. Stay safe.
Its a shame we have to share the world with such people. Thanks for making this vid!
I got one of those notifications. It was pretty obvious that it wasn’t legit, but I can see how someone could get swept away by the excitement.
Thanks for the heads up.
the scarest is the speed the world is changing (climate, politics, morality ...)
You're not alone, I've had those notices from several youtube creators like yourself. It's a shame there are such crooked people out there.
Cheers for the heads up.
sorry this is happening your such a good guy you dont desesrve the stress hope it resolves fast and easy for you
Thanks for the warning . Be blessed

Thanks for the Heads Up Bill. I think the majority of subscribers were probably already aware of these shady thieves. Never hurts to shine a light on it though. Awaiting next week's video. Thank you.

The world is crazy but this channel is great.
It's a shame what people do, thank you for your work, keep your head up and keep going. Stay safe!!!
These scams are so common these days no one should listen to them at all.
Thank you, Keep up the wonderful work!
This scam has been going on for quite a while now.. almost every channel I am subbed to I have been sent this message.. I just always ignore them, used to report them but TH-cam does not care..
Unfortunately, TH-cam does little to police this. As they are too busy counting ad revenue. We're just 'users'.
Thanks, Bill, I am OK as I never enter any competitions thanks Bob

I don't understand how YT can't have a universal "BLOCK" per user by channel.
thank you. I did get one of those things telling me I had won something. I ignored it.
Thanks for the warning. (Received the Scam/Phishing attempt. The good news is that it was sketchy enough to go straight to the trash folder.)
Scammers are EVERYWHERE !! The sad thing is that some people that fall for it, then blame the real content creator. It's bad enough that we get 1 victim, but the CC are victims too.

Great video from a great person.

Thank you for that warning!
Thank you for that well structured comment!
p.s. remember to not think too hard on the Sabbath!
I can't count how many of these scammers are out there, they're all using the same attitude
This has been happening on other channels for many months. Hopefully people see this.
Yeah i already have a story with a same case from another real youtuber but i was carefull and i ignored that.
Thank you for the advise.
I've gotten those emails from various channels. Never responded to any of them.
It may be the fate of larger channels, but it is unfortunate.
Don't wait for the owner's alarms; everyone should be aware of fake information.
This scam is pervasive in the 2A community also… between there, electronic sites and computer sites, I’ve received over 30 of these scam attempts in the last year
Now who the heck is falling for theses scams????
Some people have zero scruples
I see these all the time on other channels. I report them and the comment disappears. If I look at it in another browser window not logged in, the comment is back. That means TH-cam is pretending to hide the comment to placate me.
This is so sad, that scammers are trying to ruin such a good TH-cam channel. Have a great day sir.
il ne faux- pas être très malins pour faire cela. c’est trop dure à faire quelque chose de bien pour ces personnes.
Thanks for the warning.
Thank you bill , there is only 1 dronebot for me that learn me so much , i have arduino and a scoop , i'm not need to get it online haha
The price of success I guess.
thanx drone Bot for this awareness video, i also fell for the same scammer last year pretending to be sedhi from the electro boom channel wanting to gift me an iphone and mac book prices on telegram 😅 i realized later that if sedhi gives out prizes its mostly key sight oscilloscopes or electronics not "iphones" and he first announces it on his channel.

I also received these scam messages, which are very common on YT
Thank you for caring enough to make this video. Sorry you had to do it .
Thanks for the Warning Bill
I assume that all emails, all text messages, and all phone calls are scams until proven otherwise. Most postal mail goes in the trash unopened and doesn’t even come into the house.
ty for the warning. shame this happens
Thx for the warning, but having many channels on my watch list these kind of “winnings” are common on TH-cam. I try always to report them, and TH-cam could purge this nuisance. Apparently they don’t care…
wow, some other sights have sent a tele gram message. Why??? Thanks for the info.
I had a relative that passed away in Nigeria. Very wealthy man. I am his only heir. 🤣
So I won't be receiving that 68 Carrol Shelby GT500KR.... 😭
This happens on a lot of the channels that I am subscribed to. Report them to youtube and block them.
Oh let me have a osciliscope and Arduino! I need both
Unfortunately this is a pretty common scam. Telegram is one of their preferred platforms for contact. Thanks for the update.
Everyone should also be aware that it's not just this channel this happens to. Any channel with a significant following gets someone to run this same type of scam.
Horrible. But... it's a jungle out there and every nook and cranny is full of scum.
I WON! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Arduinos and oscilloscopes!
You’re the best Bill!
Scammers are really annoying! For instance, I keep seeing a deep fake of Elon Musk selling bitcoin. How they can keep that up?
I wish the mechanisms to detect scam were as efficient as the ones that strike creators on alleged copyright issues.

This has occurred on most of my subbed channels.
Yes i got one of the emails or notifications. I am familiar with this scam, because two other channels I am subscribed to, have been copied or hacked as well.

I reported the scammer right away too.
I would like an ESP32 😍when you run the contest

Thanks a lot for that advertisement ;-)🥰
