Interested what you ended up buying as a replacement. I recently rode the Kawasaki Versys 1000 and thought it was a brilliant road touring machine. I am looking to downsize from my Honda ST1300 as the stationary weight is getting more noticeable as I get older. I'm in Australia and we have a maximum highway speed of 110kph so your concerns about stability at 150kph are not an issue here. I enjoyed your review. Thanks.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the comment. I haven't replaced the Tracer yet because I had a shortened riding season this year, only about 4 months of good riding. I can imagine it would serve you well down under if you don't take it too far off the pavement. The ninja 1000sx is on my list for a test ride in April which shares the engine with the Versys 1000, but I should really try that one too. Other top contenders now are the Multistrada 950s and the new Tracer 9 GT, both of which have electronic suspensions, are relatively lightweight and nimble for the German twisties and have cruise control for the long autobahn hauls. I'll post a video here when the time comes.

I wonder if the engine braking and throttle sensitivity will be remedied in the new 20202 version?

I'd guess engine braking will remain strong in the 2020 since it's the same CP2 motor without a slipper clutch. I've read that Yamaha modified the fuel injection slightly to comply with Euro 5, so maybe this will smooth the throttle transitions a bit in the low gears. I wouldn't consider it a deal-breaker unless you spend a lot of time commuting in 1st and 2nd gear traffic.
The biggest 2020 changes will likely be in the handling: fully adjustable suspension, altered aerodynamics with the new body style and slightly wider handlebars. Looking forward to testing one in spring!

I'm curious too, especially about the updated suspension. I'll give it a test ride sometime this summer to compare.

Would you say it has Enough power?

Power is plenty for the street and even at higher speeds on the Autobahn. It's a fun torquey engine, never felt underpowered.
