    Been looking at the tracer 700 for a while now. Think you have just helped me in my decision for my first bigger bike, providing I pass my test of course! Going for all year round commuting....in lincoln too...and a bit of UK touring no doubt. Thanks for the review!

    Great review! For a young guy (compared to me, at least!), very well presented, all points addressed, and very informative and useful! After 37 years of riding, I'm looking to "downgrade" to something more sensible, realistic and practical, whilst still having the potential for some fun. The MT 07 Tracer is a model I only just came across, and this review was very useful to me. Thanks! Subscribed. :-)

    Man, one of the few reviews that stand up there. In my top 3, the other 2 were on the Versys 1000 - John from Bennett's (!!!) and a russian guy 60k kms (also !!!). You guys have the smoothness and patience to make us understand the experience from small to big details. Keep it up, pleaase hehe. Also like the music. Only watched half of it and gtg to work but will watch the rest later. Have you gotten a new bike? I am thinking new tracer 700 2020. New biker, wanna sport tour and commute. Shall I put those engine protection bars and sliders, what you think? Thanks in advance.

    Great review, well presented! I've done 46k from new on my 2016 Tracer 700 and would agree with your observations. Corrosion has been more of an issue despite my preventative attempts, but overall I haven't experienced any major problems despite the mileage I've done. I have a year round mix of motorway/urban commuting and the Tracer has been perfect. Every time I think about a change I stop and think what I will improve on given what I use the bike for. I reckon I'll use it as a commuting tool (to be restarted once commuting starts again!) until the bills outweigh the value. So far just service costs, I'll stick with the bike for a while.

    • @EddieSetGo
      @EddieSetGo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This exactly, Paul. It's tough to find faults when the bike does so much, pretty well, for a decent price. The Tracer reminds me of the old Fazer which I still see around, and I have no doubt we'll see Tracers on the roads in the years to come.

    • @problemslayer3538
      @problemslayer3538 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for that comment, I'm looking into a tracer just now so what you said was useful. Where was your corrosion ? I wonder whether yam have improved it on the newer models. I can't decide between this or the honda cb500x

    • @PaulSmith-xf8us
      @PaulSmith-xf8us 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@problemslayer3538 basically all the alloy bolts and some other painted areas. The dealer got them replaced under warranty, but those didn't last either. This isn't just a Yamaha issue, I've heard and seen similar stories from brands like BMW. CB500X - I used to have one, a great bike, excellent around urban road. I only traded up to a more powerful bike as I was doing a lot of motorway riding. The quality on that was great, better than the Yamaha but it was around seven or eight years ago.

    Great review. It's a great bike, It's quite light, which I like a lot: Wet Weight 196 kg / 432 lbs. What bike did you have after the 3 years of owning the Tracer 700?

    Great revieiw! You are absolutely right - I am riding a XSR 900, the engine is great, very torquey and powerfull but at the same time mean --> almost no chance to rev it on full throttle. Overall I am very happy, but you need experiance and to know what you are doing with this triple:)

      Good decision having ridden both. Am 64 now and too much power and weight is not needed in uk. Had my crotch rockets and have had near misses and mistakes. I use trail braking now and have not got a bend wrong since. This technique is blasted by police and IAM riders. I used to be an emergency biker and for me trail braking is king. I wished I d learned this as a mad youth

    Thanks for a great longer term review. I the riding you don’t seem to have any screen fitted,
    We’re the led indicators easy to fit? I’m looking for a small touring bike for solo tours,
    And like the light weight. And think this fits the bill.

    • @EddieSetGo
      @EddieSetGo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Trevor! Yeah the screen was a custom fit from a Kawasaki Z1000. I wanted something a bit sleeker and it suited my needs! The indicators were fitted by my local Yamaha dealer but I’m told they’re an easy fit :)

    Very nice long term review. Would you ever consider a sports tourer as a next bike? I'm currently looking at the ninja 1000sx which seems a "do it all" type of bike but with more grunt.

    • @EddieSetGo
      @EddieSetGo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind comment! I have actually considered the Ducati SuperSport and would like to test ride one. I guess that falls into the sports tourer category? The 1000sx is regarded as the best sports tourer though, good choice. It’s a hell of a bike and quite physically large compared something like the SuperSport so would be capable of doing the longer miles more effortlessly.

  • @flippy66
    @flippy66 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol I wish these were £3K. You're looking at £5000+ for the first gens with reasonable miles from dealers. Maybe less privately. It's also 196kg wet.

      Around 5 inches of clearance or better like on an all-rounder... or you can go for an adventure or duel-sport... for a short answer.
      My advise is make sure adjust your SAG to 30% and bike is sprung to your weight.
      The Tracers have adjustable suspension now. Cartridge forks.... and rear shock has preload and rebound. For this price range... that is nice.
