Hi Daneil, I got my Phoenix T-Shirt today, love it! I would hate for you to feel rushed in a live stream while working on a project and trying to meet an end goal in real-time. Watching your videos post-production works great for me. Perhaps a live stream with a a cup of coffee answering written viewer questions or some tool tips. Thanks for teaching us!
I absolutely love seeing you back at it building guitars again and recording vids of them. You kept me sane during covid as I watched every single vid of yours. Cheers & Respect from Canada. :)
Amazing video! Thank you. On my opinion as a joiner, there is nothing better, than take my time to enjoy my work and see, how it's slowly growing up to something new, that will make fun to use or will perfectly fulfill its purpose. Every day I'm trying to resist that pressure from my surroundings to work as fast as possible, that I have sometimes problems to enjoy my work. I am very happy to see you trying to work without that pressure. Our health and happiness is on a first place, everything else is a secondary. :)
Hi Daniel. I think live streams is an excellent idea. It really helps us that are using mainly hand tools for sure. Guitar building is a never ending learning process just as playing them is. A craft that also is constantly evolving. Not unlike playing the instrument which also constantly evolves as music does. Much has changed since Elvis started it all back in the 1950`s. That is what makes it so magical as shit. You rock and thank you for all your guitar building wizardly wisdom. Rock on you bitches!
All the templates turned out very nice !! I would love to see a live stream of you working on a guitar project !! Always a joy to watch a master at work !!!
I suffer from the same issue with rushing for the sake of the video. I'm also working on that. Great video my friend and this is certainly going to be a great guitar! All of yours are!✌️&💙
Your looking enthusiastic and on form Daniel,,,great to see you are well on the mend,,,I'll be waiting for that notification bell on this build,,😂👍👍 i think a live stream would be great👍👍👍
Hey Daniel, I definitely love these first two videos for the Phoenix series and personally I prefer this format over live streams. You underline how important is a template for the entire project and I found a lot of tips and confirmations about templates making, I really like the format of these videos: they're full of useful tips and comments and see you working is instructive and relaxing at the same time. I really appreciate that you take your time to get the perfect result you are aiming at: quality requires time but unfortunately this is not that obvious these days.
Hi Daniel, I think you are right, the new design looks better! And thanks for showing all the small tricks! I like the reverse headstock and looking forward in the result of the Phoenix
Very exacting and precise work! Let me add that the longer form videos are working for me. I'll watch anything you want to cover. I always learn something I can use.
Really interesting stuff Daniel and, yes, it would be really useful to have a ‘close-up’ on the top/inlay/copyring process to see the method and the thinking behind it! Cheers Daniel! 🥰🥰🎸🎸☕️☕️
It's so good to see you back doing what you do best! I'd love to see a live stream, I think the only problem for me would be the time difference between the Netherlands and Western Canada. I'll make it work!
I am looking forward to you using these templates, especially with the (duplicator?) rings on the router. I was a bit confused at first with what you are doing, but the recap at the end set me straight.
Great to see you back in your workshop Daniel. Very interested in a video on the guide bushes/copy rings. I've attempted it before without great results, not bad but could be better!! Cheers mate 🇦🇺
I like what you did with the control cavity. I also appreciated the explanation as there were things to think about. It was a good example of adapting as you go. You might consider speeding up the. Idea during those parts that are long and repetitive.
Thank you for this video, especially the idea about sanding sealer and melamine lacquer. I have made templates but never did this!! I would love to see a video on using the guide bushings.
I like the idea of the inlayed top, and I think that would be interesting for the fingerboard too, inlayed into the neck to give perfect binding. I remember fender did that a few years back to inlay a strat fingerboard although I don't remember the precise model. The technique of using the copy rings interests me too!
That's an interesting way to do the inlayed top. Personally I'm just about to start on 1 with an inlayed top and back - double punishment! Fortunately I can use a local makerspace to CNC the templates. I'm planning to use off-body alignment pins and route out the cavity for the top/back before the body shape (whilst it's still a rectangular block). That makes the templates a bit simpler as it's just 1 layer.
Have you ever seen those flex router template making guides ? They are about 1200 mm long and have a screw hole every 30 mm or so and you can bend them quite tight in both ways . I used one for a very similar idea on a guitar body and it worked amazing well and was really quick with no filing etc to make a perfect fit came straight of the router perfectly Flexi router template guide well worth checking out 👌
Yes, I have heard of them and I think I mentioned them in this or the previous video. But thank you for pointing them out in the comment section so others might find this useful information.
Daniel, I'm glad the universe saw fit for you to make guitars. You are on the cutting edge of builders. Question, if you were to make a left handed version of your designs, would you be able to use the same template by just flipping it over, or does it require you to crate a unique template?
Hi Ian, I had to look up the actual editing file but the song is "Ricketts Glen" by Roy Williams. I don't know if it's out there somewhere, I got it from Epidemic-sound.
The first comprehensive video on making templates, thanks Daniel, cheers!
Indeed it is. Great step by step video.

Live Streams? Yes please. A special on copy-rings? Yes please! As always a very informative video, keep it up

Love the patience and attention to detail, also a great headstock design! Excited for the full build.

It's nice to see you smiling again.
Cheers from Down Under.
Yep, I definitely like that headstock design.
I'm really loving this new series !!
Every time I want to hurry up a process ,I say to my self what would Daniel do😊
Very exacting and precise work! Let me add that the longer form videos are working for me. I'll watch anything you want to cover. I always learn something I can use.
That guitar shape is looking really good! I enjoy the new longer video format, well done.

Always a pleasure to watch your work Daniel!
Love the new design and absolutely love the headstock. Can't wait to see more!
Headstock shape is really nice and balanced.
Would enjoy seeing you build a guitar from scratch live! Would motivate me to finally get in my shed and start my first build as a build along.. 🎸
Project looks great so far. Nice shapes overall. Body and headstock are excellent. Really like it in the reverse.
It's so good to see you back doing what you do best! I'd love to see a live stream, I think the only problem for me would be the time difference between the Netherlands and Western Canada. I'll make it work!
Love the live stream would give a good chance to pick your brain! Love the progress both in and out of the shop! Keep it up!

Excellent project. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship show your desire for perfection. See you next time.
Hola Daniel
Frank desde Dominican Republic.
Excelente como siempre. Ansioso por ver el resultado final.
Thanks everything is coming out excellent.

Great video Daniel, full of very useful tips and techniques.
Oh yea a how to on offsetting copy ring would be very informative
coming a long really nicely

I'd love a livestream.
These videos are so helpful, thankyou so much for the effort !
I've had good success using CA glue on the edges of templates.
It really irks me that Bosch refuses to make that drill for the American market. Anyway Daniel, I’m very happy to see you back in the workshop.
Meticulous work. You rock!
great video Daniel, nice guitar
Nice! Thank you!

Daniel, I have a laser cutter with a bed of 1200 x 900mm I would be more than happy to cut templates for you.
Fitting the cover into the cavity has to be one of the hardest things to get right.

Thank you very much.
Yes it’s possible to flip the templates to make left handed guitars.
I once almost made a lefty body by accident.
I was wondering about the template edge and potential wear. I was thinking that superglue around the edges would do the trick as well?
Daniel, next time when you wear gloves don’t use the other hand to apply the laquer and so on 😂😂…just kidding…great job man!
What is the music starting at the 28:36 mark?
Hi Ian,
I had to look up the actual editing file but the song is "Ricketts Glen" by Roy Williams.
I don't know if it's out there somewhere, I got it from Epidemic-sound.
I think the recordings are good. Livestream seems a bit over the top.
