I saw her in the mid-1990s at a free show in Baltimore. They were just set up in the hood on a rock slope near the railroad tracks. Her and this fantastic band layin' it all out. It was killer.

I've loved Etta's music for years. Very sad day when she passed in 2012. My fave song of hers is her cover of Trust In Me. Other great ones include All I Could Do Was Cry, Pushover, Something's Got A Hold On Me, Tell Mama and Security. Would love to see more reactions to her music. Such a powerful vocalist!

She had many health issues, beat several serious addictions, had a very troubled personal life, yet always came back and succeeded. Her fans loved her because she played around with the audience and got them worked up. Her song At Last was sung by Beyonce, who played Etta in the movie Cadillac. It was based on her time at Chess Records while under contract. You should try that song and My Dearest Darling, All I Could Do Was Cry, Something's Got a Hold on Me and anything she recorded. Her son has a video saying she wasn't treated fairly. I loved your reaction. She was some lady.❤

This song was originally recorded at the famous Fame studio in "muscle shoals Alabama " They have a documentary about all the music played and recorded there. It's on Netflix and it's called Muscle Shoals. Check it out.
