It's such a struggle to turn the portafilter into the locked position. I currently end up pressing some random button as I try to find grip to keep the machine from moving. Is there an easier way to do this or it gets better with time?
I know what you mean. I just stable the machine with my left hand over the right side of the machine to stop it moving. In this way my fingers are away from the buttons.
Very helpful review of accessories. However, unlike your experience, I found that it was very difficult to remove the buckets from portafilter. Do you have a tip for popping the baskets out? I certainly don’t want to use a screwdriver to pry them out.
Hi Tom Having a tight fitting bucket in itself shows that the spring clip in the portafilter is good. I think mine is a little loose to be honest. There is a little indent on the side of the portafilter where you can fit the tips of your thumb in to lift up the bucket. At least that is how I detach the bucket for mine. It works for me and I hope it did for you too.
@@Worldview149 Thanks! I’ll try using those indents. It’s pretty tight when wet or warm. Do you take basket out after every time or just empty, clean and refill while still attached to the portafilter.
@@tagilmore803 1: The basket gets deposited with the leftover coffee (see underneath it after you lift the basket out). It is quite dirty after EVERY shot. Can you imagine not cleaning it and you will have the left over taste from previous coffee shots... it would spoil your enjoyment every time. 2: also the oil from the grind deposits inside the portafilter as well and again with accumulated deposits your fresh expensive grinds are going to be tainted. So in short I would suggest cleaning it every time you pulled your shot.
You can also just add the coffee to the basket/portofilter over the coffee container so you dont make a mess and keep the extra coffee.
