Wow, this is the most informative video about Logos. You just shortened one week process into 15 minutes video 😃. I loved that you use the mood boarding in everything which explains why you chose those specific colors or these particular fonts and this can convince the client more, because sometimes clients don't know about other competitors graphics and they start judging your work from its outer shape. Beautiful content Lauren!! 👏👏
This video was so good an informative! I’m self-teaching rn so it’s nice to watch your thoughts process on what you feel looks good and reconciling that with client needs. I find myself being to harsh when I don’t get it perfect the first time, so it’s very reassuring to see a veteran designer trying a bunch of things and really taking stock of all the options. Love your channel ! 😊
Oh totally no one gets it right the first time and if they do then they probably haven’t explored enough options! You’re doing great and I really appreciate you being here and pursuing graphic design 😊👌
Oh dear, I am speechless. The design is super cute, the color contrasts, the mockups, and everything is nicely done. You are the best logo designer and also give us so many techniques to make wonderful logos. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful content with us. and also, this looks cuter and more organic than those medical-like-looking pet food, I personally love your idea about this matter. keep shinning❤
The video is a complete package😎. As I got to know product designing from scratch as well as how to sync your work with the different adobe tools. Awaiting more such videos. Thanks, Lauren! 😊👌
The video is so informative Lauren. Love the process from sketching to moodboard all the way to playing around with the fonts and colour scheme. I have a much better grasp of logo creation especially before thinking of using a computer. Thanks so much
I love these type of video you do! I'm hoping to study graphic design next year, so these kinds of videos really help me think about my career choices and how a job in graphic design as a logo/brand creator might look like, so thank you! Also, I paused the video to read the 'execution of brand look' and the original company's name is in there so we know who the client is, hope that is okay dosen't breach anything! Just wanted to let you know :)
Thanks for that! It’s okay. It doesn’t breach any contract. I just didn’t want to forecast the name very broadly. So awesome about you becoming a graphic designer next year! I’m sure you’ll do great 😊 You have excellent attention to detail.
My god this is so useful and informative, I can't thank you enough. It makes me want to niche down to pet/animals business only. I've been working as a designer for 8+ years and most design projects that made me the happiest were pet related. Do you think would be a good idea? Again thank you so much for providing such amazing content for us.
So glad to help you and you are so beyond welcome! I would absolutely say to go for the pet brands then. Just think about all that is connected with that: pet stores, vets, pet toys, pet health products, pet care, pet food products, pet accessories, pet shampoos and conditioners and on and on. It is a massive industry. I just looked up the market size which shows how big the industry is and the forecast for the future and it says it will keep growing! Good indicator!
@@4TheCreatives that's amazing! Not sure if it's gonna work but I have to try, sounds promising. I really appreciate you for your time and helpful information :)
They usually will need me to create the designs. But I provide them with files for their profile picture, their social media and I give them templates for their social media posts with their brand colors. I also provide their packaging and labels. I don't work with Canva or things of that nature. But they do get my brand guide.
Love this! Thanks so much for sharing your workflow. Question, the way you presented it to us at the end...is that the way you present it to customer? In video format?
Thanks Suzanne! That would be amazing if I did that every time, but I usually only do it in a PDF presentation, but with your motion graphics skills, you could do it that way for sure!
I love how you emphasize the importance on doing the research and sketching out your ideas, before hitting the computer! This is something that you don't hear too many people talking about. Also, I have a quick question regarding the final stage. So after the client has approved the logo design, how do you go about exporting the logo files? This is something I've often had trouble understanding. Also, when designing a logo in Illustrator, do you use CMYK or RGB?
Thanks! I export them from illustrator as ai, eps, png, jpg and svg so they have a variety of file formats. You should design your logo in black and white initially. If you add color you should have an RGB version for web and a CMYK version for print. That’s one reason why I like to provide a full brand guide as I can then give the color specs for digital, web and print.
Thank you. Do you mean how to do a mock-up from scratch or using a mock-up to create the design mock-up? I don’t use 3D programs to fo the mock-ups myself but purchase them.
Namaste. Thankyou very much for putting all your wonderful efforts. I would like to know if you have come through and have ever read any of the best books related to graphic designing. If yes, then please guide us some books on graphic designing.
Yes, there are some great books on design! Designing Brand Identity by Alina Wheeler Layout Essentials: 100 Design Principles for Using Grids Design Elements, Color Fundamentals: A Graphic Style for Understanding How Color Affects Design
Yes it really takes longer with the initial research and sketches, but because I had done that prior and had planned out things it was faster. A normal logo process takes about 15-20 hours for me to do.
I like the way how you explain the logo designing process from scratch. I am still learning how make logos using Adobe Illustrator. Is it really ok to make mood board using Adobe Illustrator?
Great video, super informative! I love how you walked us through each step, and explained your thought process in your decisions. Thanks for this! Do you present all brand identity packages in a video format for your clients, or do you usually do slideshows? Also, you may have mentioned it in the video, or elsewhere in the comments, so I apologize if you've already gone over this: how long does this process normally take you? Thank you!
Thank you Jessica! Slideshows are easier for sure, but nothing can beat videos if they are paying enough and you have the ability. It is not necessary thought if you are not a motion graphics designer. The full process usually takes about 20-40 hours. The research side is the most time consuming. I shortened these steps to make it into a TH-cam video, but the research, the sketching, the creation of the logo, the font searching, the mockups, it all takes a lot of time to get fully right. But having a basic process to follow helps to make it easier to manage.
Great video content awesome and out of the box work great. Now make a video how to present design to clients and what kind of file source do you deliver.
Meaning how to show it to clients in your PDF? In terms of the files once it’s approved, I provide the logo in a variety of colors per the brand color palette and then provide the logo in png, svg, eps, jpg and ai.
Wow I love this video ma,this method has helps me today in Logo design but I have a problem with color .ma can you make a video of color ma . which color to use for any design in graphic design pls
Hey there! Do you use a touch screen computer to draw over the sketches? I’ve been using procreate, but would like to learn more InDesign fundamentals. Awesome video!!
Thanks! I use a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet and I love it so much. You have to get your hand in sync with drawing on it while looking at the screen but it doesn’t take long to get used to it. Been using a Large Intuos for 12 years. I made a video that details the benefits of it here if you are interested to see the one I’m using: th-cam.com/video/6A_PJp4jsDU/w-d-xo.html

Hi I'm just decided to start a career as a freelance Graphic designer could you suggest any videos of yours that'll help me Start right. I love this video though 😍☺️
great video! thank you! I have a question, something i find really hard to deal with. I usually present one or two logo ideas that I really like and think work perfect. I also present them in different colours and with mock ups. My clients sometimes ask for changes and after all changes they want i start disliking the design as to me all changes they suggest just look wrong. How do you accept this? i dont want to be sharing something as my work if I dont like it. It really puts me off doing graphic design especially logos.
This is a common situation for at least a small percentage of clients. When you are presenting your design to the client, you can back up your designs with research and evidence on how this would attract their target audience and get them more sales or clients (as applicable). If they keep wanting to be the art director and order you around even after you have had phone conversations and gotten them to understand your design strategy, then just do as they want and make sure if they go past the agreed upon revisions you bill them more. The only way to work with these type of clients is to increase your prices and have a very firm contract in place. Then just don’t use it in your portfolio if you hate it. I’ve been there too!
@@4TheCreatives thank you so much! yes i think i need to come up with a proper contract and after 3 free revisions start billing hourly i think. its just very disappointing as i hate working on something i dont like! but thank you very much for the response i am glad its not just me. looking forward to your next video ❤️
