The system needs more poor people's money. To live in their football 🏈 field homes and football field land mass. And they're life style. They were poor before they stole your land and identity. But those in power now have your land made themselves rich off your backs. They still want that system to continue. So they have to devise a new system to keep you down and from getting any kind of stability in this depraved and vicious world and thrist for money and power.

Property tax is absolutely a way to keep us from truly owning our homes. It’s absolutely vile. It should be abolished for at least the primary residence. Or at least have a cap and a payoff amount.

Grew up in Louisiana. They had "Homestead Excemption".on $75,000 of your primary residence. That made the great majority of homes state tax free. I know home prices have increased, but the idea was a good one. ( don't know what it is now as I left there in 1992.) P.S. Last vist an old friend said they had a new law that froze property tax on your home when you reached 65 to prevent retired folks on fixed incomes from being taxed out if their homes. That law should be nationwide and fixed at what you paid for the house, not inflated value.

Property taxes are the most unfair taxes, home owners pay the bill while the rest of the public skates, property taxes should be outlawed on a single family unit owners if you own no more than one home. Property taxes should be replaced with a sales tax that everyone pays instead of just home owners. Replacing property taxes with a sales tax would spread the tax to all that purchased goods in the state you buy them in.

Crook county is getting so bad they are not using recent purchase price for the value. In the past the best assessment of value was recent purchase. I bought a house that was in the market for one year. I got it for $180k. Legit sale I got on mls. No inside deal no funny business. Crook county says it market value is $240 k. As I fought them and showed them comps. They purposely went to find the best looking houses to prove their value and didn’t compare the house to similar houses. If the house was worth $240 k the seller and agent would have found a buyer and not sold it for $180k. The county is looking to generate revenue by any means necessary. The person assessing is commuting fraud by finding the best houses in the area to compare to the home to get the highest tax possible. I have so many examples of this. These assessors need to go to jail for fraud and theft of our tax money. I know how to fight them and I will win and expose them. What happens to people that don’t know how to fight. Crook county will steal million from these people. There is no one to keep these crooks accountable and make them pay for their crimes. We must work together and put them and jail.

My situation is different. Im in northern California. Bought my house in 2022. They took 2 years to finally assess my property. Find out since i have a new built. They've only been taxing me on the land and not the house. Meaning i'll owe $10,450 in taxes because the county and my lender wasn't on the same page. Good thing is, i caught that i was paying low taxes a year ago and start saving all my overtime checks but this is DEFINITELY how ppl lose their home. (PS. In Texas for example we have appraised value which closely correlates to market value-of recently sold homes-at least it is suppose to & there is taxable value. The taxable value takes homestead exemptions & other exemptions like senior over 65, disability, military into account. The taxable value can only go up 10% per year.

In 9 years I'll be considered a senior citizen (56). Current property tax annually is $400 due to her having the senior tax reduction. I'm hoping that I'll be a senior by the time mom passes so I can also get a senior tax reduction upon assuming ownership and continue to only pay $400 annually.

Until this level of accountability occurs, nothing will change. BTW - PENSIONS are likely at the heart of this horrific financial problem. The great majority of private sector employees do NOT get a pension... So, WHY do govt employees usually get a pension? That's unfair and unsustainable..

I don't think we got the full story on the young woman buying her Winter Haven home. Here is the problem. Property tax information is only available on previous assessments while previous homesteaded owners lived there. Those tax amounts are going to be significantly less than tax amounts for new buyers. The new taxes will most likely based on recent sales in the area and of course on the buyers purchase price which could be significantly more than previous taxable values the previous owner enjoyed. Once a home is purchased the homestead exemption needs to be filed IMMEDIATELY. Basically that homestead cap starts over again. It won't be based on previous assessments. It starts from the new purchase price. So that is likely the reason for such a stiff increase. Real estate agents really need to start educating their clients on this so a prospective buyer knows what they are getting into. I think too many agents see dollar signs & want to get the sale done. Part of the agents duty should be to point the client in the right direction to find all the necessary resources so they know what the true costs will be.

Because the vast majority of wealth is owned by people over 55, they have government health insurance that's paid for by every W2 worker, and because only about 4% of children actually inherit their parents house, I wouldn't worry about senior citizens. The hedge fund investing is really about senior citizens selling to pay for their retirement expenses in senior communities.
In other words, it's somewhat like seeing a person grab all the donuts off a table, and then being worried he didn't get the last few crumbs. Most of your taxes goes to pay for Medicare and Social Security payments; combined those two are by far the biggest government expense.

I am a realtor, investor and lender in south Florida but it is not any different than any other part of Florida. Let's say Person A bought a house in 2001 for 100k and live in it,. Each year, the most there tax assessment goes up is roughly 3% per year so after 22 years, lets just say the house is assessed at 200k (I am over simplifying this to be clear). The market in Florida goes crazy so they sell it in beginning of 2023 to Person B for 400K. Person B will pay taxes on the house that is assessed at 200K in 2023. When their 2024 tax bill comes, they are going to be assessed at 400k so yes, the property tax bill can be double. I would bet no one told her this. A good realtor and/or mortgage broker would have explained this to the Tampa lady that ended up selling. Most realtors and brokers won't mention it though. I can't speak to the other areas but in Florida, it's just how it is and has been for many years. I didn't explain every detail but this is a youtube comment and is already too long lol.
Insurance now....well that's a different problem. They can increase whenever and by however much they want or just tell you, you're cut and now you end up scrambling.

Worst, they are selling their homes to pay someone else's high taxes and insurance instead of keeping their own homes and fighting these insurance companies. Find out the salaries of these CEO'S and you will find the problem. Also the if you buy a new home or from a seller and need a mortgage and the mortgage holder makes you buy homeowners insurance you need to let them know you are responsible for the mortgage and not insurance as long as you are paying the mortgage they can't force you to buy insurance.
also when they are assessing your home, they need to show proof of that assessment.
When you get the new dollar amount go to your county clerks office and find out the dollar amount and pay the dollar amount that was just assessed separate from your mortgage. ex: you paid $500.00, they increased the taxes by $200 pay the $200 separate and keeping your mortgage in tact no increases.

I thought that homestead tax exemption provided a max 3% increase. Did these people file their homestead tax exemption paperwork when they bought their homes? I know people who have never done that who have lived here for years. It is an overlooked mistake that people make. I greatly appreciate the real estate sites showing previous sale prices and tax assessments. It's crazy how taxes on a property can go from 1,600 a year to 2,600 a year with no renovations being made in a 2 - 4 year period.
I know someone who had their taxes increased by $800. Their house was purchased for about $130k a few years back, now the town says it's worth closer to 200k.
I am in a rural area, and I have also seen rent go up drastically. You are right though, the banks and nobody else tells you to look at property taxes or insurance premiums.
It's just a crazy world we find ourselves in. This was a good and informative video that hope helps others think before they make a massive decision.

Until our government steps in and does something, it's just going to keep happening. I don't know the answer. It don't affect the companies. They are reporting record profits, then if you raise the taxes on them, they pass it on to consumers, and they keep on reporting record profits while hurting us. Just a vicious cycle. Maybe we need to eliminate Wall Street. They care more about share/stockholders more than their consumer.

They should have to publicize everyone's property tax for everyone to see. There is a lot of corruption in property taxes.

It is based on comparative values of properties in an area..

60% of property taxes tends to go to school systems. People will need to either run for office on a campaign to cut revenue to schools. Or, my preferred proposal, allow homeschool families to access the money being spent by the State. It's $15k on average per student across the country.
If you have 5 kids, the State and county should be sending you $75k yearly. ❤

In Pennsylvania we have a Homestead exemption that decreases our property taxes and provides rent rebates. The law was passed in 2006 by our democratically controlled state House of Representatives.
I pay half of my property assessed tax value.
It’s important to pay attention to the legislative branch of government bc they control your money. Policy matters. The South focus on tradition and heritage while kitchen table issues go neglected.

I don't understand how Property Taxes is based on property value. The council running the suburb should see the costs of running (garbage collection, park maintenance, etc) add 10% for savings fund for future problems of improvements, then divide that by the number of properties and there's your Property Tax amount. Property Tax should be for the amenities and services provided.

    Thinking outside?
The box I have 3 houses and 7 Arkansas. In one counmy, total tax bill is about $280 per year. Sometimes you can find little towns where you can buy cash and use your skill your wit. Access and resources to make a living and not take. There are other options just like TH-cam to get to where you are. If you do the same as everyone else, Percentages of failure, etc. Will be along the lines as everyone else. A good.
Rule is 40% even though it sounds crazy. Buy a home for no more than forty percent of What you're approved for.

How many of you complaining voted for this? There are about 1.4 million migrants invited into our country annually by the democrats. Think about that number for a moment. In the past 10 years that's 14 million added people to the population. Migrants now exceed births in this country. In addition there are 80,000+ h-1b visas every year, plus their dependents. So add about another 300k thousand every year. About 17 million per decade. These people absorb the lower income housing that is available and the h-1b workers generally compete for middle income housing. High demand drives up prices. The hardest hit are those that are just scraping by. And those that are in that bracket tend to vote democrat. It's just facts people. Are you partially to blame?

In many places houses that have been owned for a long period of time are subject to special tax rates. For example in Michigan there is Proposition A tax rates. This Prop set the maximum TAXABLE value on a primary residence property owned when it went into effect to a fixed amount a year. Until that house is sold the rate of increase is capped. When the house is sold, the prevailing tax rate is applied to the sale price. I am one of those living in one of these houses. My current taxes are approx. $4800 a year. If I sell this house which is now appraised at $600,000 the new owner will have property taxes in excess of $12,000 a year. Any realtor that doesn't notify the byer of this fact should be jailed. This is why so many of us retirees will not sell our houses. If I sold my house and bought one worth half as much, my property taxes would be about $6000 a year and I would have to pay capital gains on approx. $200,000.

I understand what going on. Bonds for municipals are due and even more are needed because most infrastructure hasn't been done since the earlier 90s. Also, states, counties, and cities can't print money. Insurance companies are highly leveraged in commercial real estate which gets renewed frequently (unlike home loans) so it's a solid economic hedge trending the economy. Now, commercial real-estate is going bust. Well, what do you know? Who would have thought that the economy would stagflate and insurance fraud skyrocket after COVID? Investors need a premium to make investing in insurance worth it because the equities market has been on fire for a long time, so they demand the kitchen sink. Who would have known the weather would worsen year over year? Sorry folks, Uncle Sam and aunt False Promis are gonna take it out your #%$!

Cities and counties claim they need the huge increases to fund the budget, but... house values have skyrocketed, meaning taxes have gone up, naturally. To increase the tax rate, increasing taxes by even more, shouldn't be necessary, since the cities/counties are already raking in more money. Americans are being forced to trim their budgets and yet cities/counties feel like they just need more, more more, when they should be tightening their belts and cutting budgets, as well. For many retirees that paid their homes off, expecting to have a secure retirement. Having property taxes increase by huge amount means many seniors will have to sell their home.
