I'm from Cape Town. Literally the thing I want most in the world is for all cars to go EV and then to see that view without any smog.

Cape town would be a great place for electric cars. South Africa would be a great country for electric cars. It doesn’t snow and there is plenty of sunlight are you around
Electric cars are so much cheaper to drive versus gas cars. electricity is much cheaper than gas. about 1/4 of the cost here in California for electricity versus gasoline. in your country the savings could be much higher just because gas is more expensive in south Africa and then it is the US

Obvious you never visit S.A. township in your life, mayority of township are beutiful and mayority of people who stay there have good careers such as nurses, doctors... etc, there is a big different between township and squatter camps , don't confuse the two

Good observation! Actually, each of the 9 provinces have their own and most are quite colourful with pictures and logos and different styles. In two provinces, owners have the option of the old plates which shows the city/town prefix (Cape Town is CA) or ones which only shows the province. The city/town plates are more popular, plain as they are.
