India is so focus on surpassing China's economy, they don't even realise they have to catch up to Germany and Japan first. They want to eat the pie that they haven't baked yet.
Germany and Japan are dying economy by design by being Vassal state to USA. To catch up with China , India's growth must be consistent. YTY for the next decade ,utilization demographic, resources, building infrastructure, less or nil corruption, decreasing rich-poor gap, lot of other social structures.

India talks a lot more than actual work and likes to play a good/innocent kid card, whereas China goes all in & walks the talk regardless of the challenges.
India talks and acts like it's the most supreme in the world, but China is being humble and speaks like it's just a beginner learner. We can all see the results of those two ancient civilizations.
india is not "neutral" or "non alliance." india only looked "neutral and innocent." india is always claiming itself to be "friendly and harmless." In fact, india manipulates and plays one side against the other side and uses and plays the other side against the one side. And that is india.
A "China Expert", but he did not bother to mention how China's political system enable China to alleviate extreme poverty (of about 1.5 billion population) within a few decades. This is unheard of in history. One may not agree with China's political system and how the central government runs China and its economy, but when you have millions of hungry/homeless citizens do you really have a great political system? His perspective is biased and not a real expert on China.
@@khaitsae but i guess he avoids this in particular because one can't really change the Indian political system. Indian won't adapt the China political system vice versa.
He doesn't even know much about his own country, never mind China. He is so wrong about China, he is just repeating the same old mainstream myths and fables about China. 😂
When China is growing her economy, she never compare herself with any other country. The concentration is to grow the economy to benefit and uplift the well being of her peoples. India?
I would like to correct the interviewer in the beginning of the interview session in which she "everyone like to compare between China and India". I take it the "everyone" means the indian? Because the Chinese has never like to compare themselves with india, while the majority of indian are paranoid about China. So, let's get this straight and be very clear.
The Chinese just get on with life and try to better themselves. They're not in a competition. But I feel that the Indians are like Americans, always looking at the other side, comparing and trying to out-do others.
India comparing themselves to china just so they can casually ignore and convince themselves that smaller countries like Japan and Germany aren't ahead of them. That's like me comparing my punches to Mike Tyson's
30 years ago, sweat shops working conditions in China still better than many places in Asia. Women living in factories dormitories were safe and happy as there were many social events for them. Yes, hard works, like everywhere in Asia, but conditions got improved year after year..
Just forty years ago, China and India basically stood at the same starting line. Now, China ' GDP is about 5-6 times of India. China almost dominates every critical industrial sectors. China is the largest manufacturing and trading nation in the world. To be frank, China and India already are not in the same league . If India wants to learn some things from China, how about those characters, humble, work hard, pragmatic, meritocracy, talking less and work more. Chinese philosophy believes the law of heaven is rewarding hard-working people.
40 years ago, the Chinese were working very hard to improve their lives and nation building. Indians were belittling Chinese and they are dreaming to become a global super power.
From the perspective of GDP, India has always believed that it is about 20 years behind mainland China. 20 years ago, mainland China was already competing with the United States for the Olympic list, and at the same time was able to help the world, especially the United States, escape the 2008 global financial crisis. They really think that they can now match China's capabilities 20 years ago. In order to increase its GDP, India even counts cow dung. The Olympic medals show that India's GDP figures are completely inflated. The industrial capacity of a country will be reflected in the number of gold medals. The medal list in the history of the Olympics is the simplest test list of national strength. People only need to look at the list to know which countries were powerful in history. All the so-called China experts neither understand Chinese nor Chinese history and culture. The only thing they understand is political correctness.
Indian GDP figures are fake, overstated or may be China understate theirs or both. India workforce population is 500 millions actually. China workforce in 2007 was near 750 millions. India 2023 and China 2007 officially have same GDP figures. Unreal. 500 millions Indians as productive as 750 millions Chinese of 2007???
@@user-gp9mk7wm1s IMF and World Band estimated China GDP was underrated 30%. Chinese prefer to keep low profile claim as developing country forever. Never, never invest in India, this country is the graveyard for all investors. Even the small number ever to make some returns, the Indian government will find ridiculous excuse to tax and fine those few foreign companies.

But he didn't acknowledge or speaks about how the hell China developed so rapid leaving my country India so far behind. We have the same GDP few decades with China and look at now. I disagree with this guy opinion and his takes on Chinese development. Shouldn't he be talking about how China uplifted poverty in their country. How they excell in high tech advance technology, infrastructure, decreasing pollution, environment and excelling in sports etc...look at China they're competing with USA in tye ongoing olympic. I don't like my fellow Indians mindset when it comes to China. We will never learn and developed like China because we refused to acknowledge the achievement of Chinese people.
India and China focus on different aspects of the society in their development because they have different developmental goals. China wanted to build "a moderately prosperous society for all her citizens " (共同富裕的小康社會). This goal was set 45 years ago when China's economic reform first started, and it seems that they have not diverted much from the goal. India's goal is to become a superpower, and the entire Indian population seems to support it. So lifting people out of poverty is more important to the Chinese than to India if it costs too much money and adds too little to the GDP.
Your thinking seem to be the exception rather than the rule. Most educated 'Indians' reports on the bad but ignore the positives of what China had done since the economic reform.
@@FallenLeavesReturnToRoots how's the country going to become a superpower without economic and infrastructure development. Unemployment is high, beggar's, homeless people on the streets, govt taxes 18% almost in every goods, commodities and services. No new urban cities development, very few metropolitan cities and so are heavily crowded in cities like gurgaon, delhi, mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore. Moreover, it takes day's to travel by train from Assam/Northeast to delhi or from South to delhi, from one city to another. Central govt can't or don't even want to resolve the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur between meitei and kuki. So I'm not sure what you mean by India's goal is to become superpower.
Actually China in time learn many things and today it's class country, The quality China has Indian's cannot have, India is way behind, Most people are Workaholic and Indians just talk talk and talk, i don't believe in saying that India will ever beat China, more then 45 years since I am seeing China, I can say it will take millions of years for India to come closer to China, We say if you can't beat them, join them, otherwise buy them,

thinking India is growing in a faster pace is very wrong. India grow 8 percent from 3,5 Trillion = 280 billion China grow 4,5% from 18 trillion = 810 billion
Everything has to be a process and India needs to pay more attention to long-term development progress rather than short-term data. India should send more scholars to China for study and exchange.

I have something to say here 1) China's economic boom shows that there is absolutely no relation between the economy and governance system. In addition to this China's boom originates a new chapter in debate..." do we really need democratic system to achieve economic growth?"...can underdeveloped countries accept China's mix governance system to eliminate poverty ( globalisation in business and patrial communism in governance)? 2) The democratic society miserably failed in their economic goals by creating the largest mess in terms of worsening gap between rich and poor , over centralisation of wealth into the hands of few opportunistic power people. 3) One of the biggest mistakes is to validate china using the spectacle of western countries. 4) It would be stupid idea to conclude that the chinese economy is slowing down and FDI flow erodes massively...this is wrong...the data from the Europe union business trade shows that china is still a girlfriend of Europe and its first choice for FDI investment.....only chinese investment into Europe shrink down in 2024.. 5) china is restructuring and reorganizing their focus area from shaddy manufacturing to advanced techno innovation like semiconductor, LI-ON batteries, 5G network equipment, solar green technology, space missions, satellite imagery, defense experts etc etc....the slow down is due to this paradigm shift...
China don't talk loud. English is not her major. China does not waste time on fighting off bad critics. China corrects her mistakes, research harder, offers friendships and win-win solutions. On border disputes, China defends and retreats after each win, not taking an inch more, but agrees to work together for a solution.
Indians are brought up differently. They have caste system. The brahmins are taught to be arrogant and proud. The sudras are taught to be humble and obedient. The dalits are like slaves. Focus of India is wrong, even for this podcast which is one of rare rational Indian channel I came across. Focus should not be on another country Focus has to be on the people welfare. Then the priorities of all other policies can be put right. If anything India really want to compare and compete with China, it is in lifting their very people out of poverty.

The factors the host didn't mention about success are: 1 China is secular society and no religion conflict in history. 2. Farm land reformed and eliminated landlords 3. Social equality and gender equality. 4 invested heavily on education, though China was very poor in 1950's but the literacy increased dramatically in a decade to 85% from 10%. 5. Acknowledgement among the people has to come first before you start seeing improvement and changes. Good luck for the future 👍
Pretty good interview overall. People should not be too picky. His explanation about the real estate sector’s decline is basically correct. It was the Chinese government’s intention to gradually deflate the sector and move more resources to the productive manufacturing sector.
the guest made it sound like compared to China, India's system pays the price of slower growth while maintaining corruption and pollution free. Is that true?
Just to clarify three points: 1, China does have a lot of real estate bubbles, but there aren't that many ghost towns, that's western media propaganda. 2, the hukou system has been changing, if you have a formal job or university degree you can join most cities. 3, inland China is not predominantly ethnic minorities and there are no political problems. India should focus on own weakness rather than competitor of China. India no way around competitor, left bahind far away in this race. Badmouthing china does not lead india anywhere. When i go around indian cities see workers aroun, seems like they dont even have basic facilities accept white colored job and yet socalled chinese experts from india are saying china has no workers rights. Take a guess, what are Chinese politician‘s long and short term challenges? De-clined population and economic growth. Whats Indian Politicians‘ long and short term challenges? Grow party influence at national level and winning next election. The objectives of politicians are totally different, hence different policies were formed.
De-clined population is Chinese biggest challenge and their study shows high cost of living was the main reason young people can not afford a marriage. Out of young people‘s concern, the cost of housing was the biggest problem. Xi heard the outcry, and burst the property bubble in no time, and bring down property price within 12 months. (Thats efficiency) If you look at other countries, it will take 3~4 years to discuss in public and another 3~4 years gor implementation. In 2001 I was read so many article that China was literally begger Country and had a pity for them. But suddenly it got changed after 2015. Now it is competing US. Then started to watch and read lots of article how China did the achievement. One of main point of their booming economy is government investment in education and R&D. Indian is for behind in that areas. Apart from space Indian government is not willing to invest any kind of R&D sector which is whitel for growth.

I think the Indian think tank and politicians will not improve the lives of rest of 70 percent of the people living with very little hope or means simply because they have no intention of doing so. This country’s leaders are hypocrites to their core. Sad for the people who will never get their day.
The observations Manoj reports are very relevant. He fails to report that it was Nixon on the advice of Kissinger opened up US to China and China welcomed Foreign investment. In doing so it became a manufacturing hub. It is interesting that Manoj, who said he did not do a good job managing his father’s business gives economic advice. For instance why should the PLI policy be selectively applied? Why not allow it across the board to all companies. China is following State Capitalism which is not an option for Bharat. Bharat has to facilitate private enterprise, small, medium and large. Unfortunately Bharat is so behind in capital intensive high value precision manufacturing that it will take many years to catch up, if at all.
Thank you Mr. Kewalramani for sharing so valuable insights of China. Very nice explanation. In my humble opinion something has to give in order to gain something. Under privileged population has to make sacrifice for nation building & well being for future generation. China made sacrifices in the 1st/2nd/3rd phase of their development but you see the future outcomes are very positive. Even their own population by n large agree it's worth.

India's corruption needs to be addressed. The caste system and gender inequality are equally difficult as it is part of the civilization. He is right education is very important and it can be improved. China has USD2 Billion trade surplus PER DAY which has to be invested somewhere besides USDs.
Terrible corruption in India, but he said china's corruption is as deep as ever? How? all digital payments I guess you can buy watches for them.. so small corruptions.
Manoj has been quite balanced and objective on his views on China, compared with many other so-called China experts in the West. He rightly pointed out some of the real problems in China. The stimulus money in China in 2008 went to infrastructure and some on real estate. Not only real estate.
Nilesh, (I hope the name is correct) and Manoj Kewalramani please accept my sincere thanks for your meaningful programe. I got lost as he begin to talk about what India should do. Investors go to India expect India to be the next homogeneous market like China. If you like to highlight your diversity, why won't they just invest in ASEAN or Africa?
The main reason why China's development is far ahead of India lies in the considerable gap in political wisdom between the leaders of the two countries. Two simple examples can show this: 1. In terms of treating foreign capital, after Chinese leaders introduce foreign capital, they will do everything possible to provide the greatest convenience for foreign capital. No matter how much money you earn, the Chinese government is never envious. As long as you pay taxes legally according to the bilateral agreement, no matter how much money you earn, it's all yours and can be transferred away at will. Because when foreign capital enters China for investment, it will definitely bring social employment and various technologies, including production technology and management technology. What China wants is technology. In the long-term cooperation, these technologies will definitely be mastered by the Chinese people. With technology, everything is easy to say. However, Indian leaders are completely a group of short-sighted people. After seeing foreign capital making money, they try every means to punish them with fines of various names. Sometimes there is no reason for fines. They even pass a temporary bill to punish foreign capital. This untrustworthy cooperation method has caused great hardship to foreign investors. According to statistics, in the ten years from 2014 to 2024, 2,800 foreign companies fled India, and some of them came to China. 2. Since 2020, due to the China-India border conflict, India has implemented "the strictest restrictive measures in Asia" on Chinese enterprises, including strictly restricting the issuance of visas to China and Chinese investment. They said that the restrictive measures were taken due to the epidemic. In fact, China's epidemic had been completely controlled in May 2020, and China has long opened up visas for Indians to come to China. In this way, hundreds of thousands of Indians travel to China every year, including those for tourism and business, contributing considerable tourism economic income to China. Chinese leaders consider it foolish not to earn money when there is money to be made. On the contrary, due to India's refusal to issue visas, the number of Chinese going to India is very small. Foolish Indian leaders have shut out a considerable amount of income. The above can show the political wisdom of the leaders of the two countries. One has a long-term strategic vision, while the other is short-sighted and incompetent.
That stimulus went into High-speed Railway, highways, infra. None of that goes to real estate, because people pay for those real estate. The guest got it completely wrong.
India cannot escape its colonial past. It tries too hard to copy and therefore to become acceptable to the West. But the UK being the ex-colonial master has fallen in hard times. The British gave India the English language, the parliament and the laws. However India is a country having laws but with no orders. It is like to compare India to having a body without the soul. India must seek its own identity and learn to get along with the neighbors.
I agree with the host lady that India should take care of unemployment first - to start with low tech manufacturing, and to be friendly to foreign invesots. You guys talked about tsmc, my country's role model enterprise, that should be the second step though, because: 1) it takes much longer time to develop, with much higher risks; 2) high tech manufacturing can take care of only small percentage of employment. India's vast population needs immediate jobs to improve their lives.
The strength of China is it sees progress in the form of all developing. If any nation wants progress it must see itself as part of a system where success is based on all parties winning. Some democratic countries see the picture in a different light. Some leaders do not see absurdity in being cheered by barefooted crowds. Some even try to manage others when they are aware they cannot help.
What I like good thing about my place delhi that it had completed metro phase 1 and phase 2 projects in a record deadline. Phase 3 was little bit delayed and phase 4 is yet to be started.
Pls facts check, CRRC in India, China TBM in India, China helped India established their first Rail University in 2014, India imported train wheels from China. There are lot of India infrastructure, metro projects, electric power plants, cement factories, fertilizer factories are built by China made equipments, designed and technology.
An uninformed debate which does not come to grips with the basic problem why China is so much ahead of not only India but practically all countries in the world. Cliches like India’s caste system are only cliches. But what is the explanation for India’s current lead in growth rate?

1) China's economic boom shows that there is absolutely no relation between the economy and governance system.

(Thats efficiency)
If you look at other countries, it will take 3~4 years to discuss in public and another 3~4 years gor implementation. (Immigration issues in EU, housing problem in US, Australia and Canada)
Thanku Ma'am
Providing such a wonderful podcast.
to stay ahead ?are u crazy ?
One big difference between both countries:
One kept their productive workforce in the country and bring in investment and export orders
The other exported their productive workforce to earn foreign currency reserves
To stay ahead, India needs to ban contraception 😂😂😂😂😂
Why Lizards Have a Race Crisis in India
All in all ........ India is perfect .
This gentleman should listen to the recent remarks about India of the founder of Infosys - too many excuses for India's failure and too content with it's chaotic 'democratic' system. To India's competitors, cheers!
India is not Ahead. China is Ahead Miles and Kilometers. Thank You China ❤️👍
Indians beat the Chinese hands down in confidence and optimism.
Thank you Manoj for presenting an engaging survey of what's right with China and what India can learn from that. Your birds eye view of Chinese economy is really fascinating. Looking for more inputs from you
Comparing to see who is better is always bad ideas. Everyone or country is different. Geographical location is different already make a big difference.
So best is to promote peace & more cooperation with healthy competition is good for humanity. Learning & improving together for common good & healthy growth!
China has shown to the world that they have become rich from poor. Everyone dislikes other becoming rich. So we look for things to compare whoever useless it maybe to Show that we are better off. The whole west have ruined their nations by taking muslim migrants but point finger on China. Their own country will be taken over by Muslim migrants because in democracy number of votes matter and needed to take over a nation. But still China is bad and lacking this snd that is the talk. China has shown to the world how to become rich. Will india become ever senseful to learn or continue to sing song that it's bad to become rich , poor is godly. ( दरिद्र नारायण)
This is an honest and unbiased channel with 2 sincere Indians speaking their minds. They are so vastly different from Palki Sharma ‘s extreme hawkish tone towards China and President Xi. Palki Sharma seized every opportunity to smear China or President Xi. Palki has not been objective. No wonder IndiA never progress
Finally we hear from someone unbiased perspectives on what's really happened for Chinese property sector.
An investor need to see and think deeper to be able to position themselves instead of believing blindly the bad press.
Wonderful Podcast. Very informative
Dont worry, little-India will make more Bollywood movies.
little-India numba-1
No country is same and neither copying one’s action will bare you results 🤦😂 India need to develop our own economy by prioritizing what suits us the best, one party China can decide what a billion people will do and divide their jobs and aspirations but this kind of decisions can never happen in democracy!! Just like Pharmaceuticals, IT consulting and Agriculture we need to develop industries which we can excel in rather than trying to copy Chinese manufacturing infrastructure
Increase production of burnol
@ No it’s cheaper to import from China so we’ll do that 🤷♂️😂 I heard they mass produce those stuff at cheaper prices for domestic consumption
I think the Indian think tank and politicians will not improve the lives of rest of 70 percent of the people living with very little hope or means simply because they have no intention of doing so. This country’s leaders are hypocrites to their core. Sad for the people who will never get their day.
They love to keep control.. Keep them poor and uneducated is still the best way.
people of india has already lost all sense of guilt , grief and remorse over india's failures
you should say that for china. You don't have children, isn't it? Chinese population is collapsing.
Obviously, India needs such "Chinese experts", good for you.
20:17, self defeating point. Isn't the point of fundamental freedom is to make it so that you don't have to travel 13 km for 1.5 hours? If you desire freedom so much just go live in the wild
After reading comments one thing I can say is that India is on the right path. Most of the comments are negative about India .
Kabhi news channel PE Jana.Vaha proud to be india aur Jai shri ram se comment section bhara pada hoga without any context
Nilesh, (I hope the name is correct) and Manoj Kewalramani please accept my sincere thanks for your meaningful programe. Believing in true racismo, which in my opinión is belonging to the “Human Race”, we have some common ground, so please excuse the familiarity. I was born in Africa, where they say. Crocodiles are particularly dangerous carnivors. Regardless of hunger, they are always ready to devour any prey. “If you convince Mr. Crocodile to share an indian vegeterian meal, he will do so with pleasure, and you will be the first tomato he will taste!” Manoj´s remarks bring memeories. I visited India and stayed for about 5 months, only to scratch the surface. Nevertheless a most rewarding experience and I specially remember the people. I sincerely wish all indians a good future, and hope that your skilled youth will contribute to better the life in their historical homeland, Bharath.
Bruh.. you are NEVER EVER ahead of anything, how can you STAY ahead? Of what????
Defense exports, real estate, digital transactions ,etc 😂
I got lost as he begin to talk about what India should do. Investors go to India expect India to be the next homogeneous market like China. If you like to highlight your diversity, why won't they just invest in ASEAN or Africa?
The main reason why China's development is far ahead of India lies in the considerable gap in political wisdom between the leaders of the two countries. Two simple examples can show this:
太肤浅了,惊讶印度精英这样理解两个国家的发展,太表面了!
还是在中国呆了16年的专家,哈哈
Very rare n valuable show thank you.
That's true but we have adapted arrogance of colonials
The way he expands his jaw muscle while speaking English
I agree with the host lady that India should take care of unemployment first - to start with low tech manufacturing, and to be friendly to foreign invesots. You guys talked about tsmc, my country's role model enterprise, that should be the second step though, because: 1) it takes much longer time to develop, with much higher risks; 2) high tech manufacturing can take care of only small percentage of employment. India's vast population needs immediate jobs to improve their lives.
Don't compare to China , pls focus on improving yourself - to respect women and to improve the hygiene
Oh, also the point of Hukou is to limit population concentration, as the tier 2/3/4 city develop the Hukou will be more lenient.
Pls facts check, CRRC in India, China TBM in India,
China helped India established their first Rail University in 2014,
India imported train wheels from China.
There are lot of India infrastructure, metro projects, electric power plants, cement factories, fertilizer factories are built by China made equipments, designed and technology.
I dont watch indian media as much, but i think this is good quality speaker and make lots of sense
An uninformed debate which does not come to grips with the basic problem why China is so much ahead of not only India but practically all countries in the world. Cliches like India’s caste system are only cliches. But what is the explanation for India’s current lead in growth rate? The caste system, the stock cliche has apparently mitigated its effect recently! So also the allegedly heavy military budget!(It has increased. In recent years).Facile explanations will not do!More thinking is required.
GDP of China is 5 times bigger than India...even though 30 years ago their GDP are the same.
India had many inbuild problem with low skill workers and poor system of government....full of bureaucracy problems....
Deng went to Singapore & learnt and became superpower. India is still trying on its own because India is not pouring money into its horrid infrastructure
There's a major issue in India that hasn't been discussed of India's culture not honor the political pledge that turns off many foreign investment fearing will end up in political target.
We are good at two thing
1.big mouth
2.expanding jaw muscle while speaking colonial language
India is not growing faster than China. China is 4 times the economic size of India. That means if China grows 1 percent, India needs to grow 4 percent just to match China. India is not growing 4 times China.
