how things have changed. a decade ago we get blurry computer graphics and a vague idea, now we have hours of free detailed explanation of exactly how to build it from Pedro Neves.
If they ever actually offered a tilting 4 wheeler, that would be a blast. I mean, really, all the leaning fun of a motorcycle and the security of four wheels!

One thing you guys need to keep in mind relative to patent-ability is not so much what something does, in this case tilting, but how it does it. I am no expert in this field but Mr. Lucas might have come up with a unique and non-obvious new geometry for the linkages. In this case he would be entitled to the patent and the exclusive use of his design for the life of the patent, ususally 20 years.

You're correct in principle but everything shown has been used countless times since WW2 and none of it was every really invented. It's all basic linkages that any mechanical engineer would use when required. It's not that common because tilting suspension systems are not that common. I suspect the patent lawyers were not the best researchers.. besides which, it is all in the public domain making it unpatentable (if that's a word..).

I'm wondering how anyone can get a Patent on something that's been around for decades and decades. I guess you did, but it just seems odd to me.
there is only a patent on this design of concept. The concept itself of a muti wheel tilting vehicle cannot be patented. I remember seeing similar vehicles back in the 70's. There was one featured in the hit TV show "Chips" of motorbike and side car that tilted.. So yeah they have been around.

Apologies, I'm a little late to the party but, as far as I can see, none of this is original. The linkages are centuries old and at least 90 years old as applied to tilting vehicles. Many have been sold, shown in public or shared making them unpatentable. I've yet to understand what the novelty is..

Utility is obvious (..well for narrow-trackers, not as it pictured here), but where are the novelty and non-obviousness necessary for a patent?
