Claus will eventually turn into his father. And in 25 years when Claus is his fathers age we're going to be getting a video entitled, "Look, I figured out a new way of making fish."
IMHO this is the funniest Claus video yet. OMG I laughed so hard my sides hurt....."you're eating a fish covered donut and you're eating chocolate covered fish"....lol
i love your stories about your parents;i especially love the fact that you do what you do for your parents. There are so many children who don't even care about their parents
Its Sunday night here and your video was just the thing to make me smile. I love your stories about your folks they way you express their personalities is almost like being there. :) Cheers for the sharing.
As far as a story goes my wife's dad is 89 years old and lives a long way away from us(my wife told him not to move but he did anyway;now he regrets it).Well we go as often as we can and the big thing for him is when his daughter cooks for him. He eats anything you put in front of him but trying to get him to tell us what he wants is like pulling teeth. We usually go through a hour ordeal of questioning him.Its like 2 cops questioning a suspect i even set up a light in front of him one day as a joke before we started the inquisition
Be happy that you still have your parents. My father is 80 and completely demented after the 9th stroke and can no longer talk. But when I show him a few old questionnaires from the driving school he smiles. He was a driving instructor in Germany from 1964 to 2010. But he can't cook at all anymore, although he could do it ecelently. I wrote down his recipe for deer with bacon, red wine sauce and homemade dumplings and cook it for him every now and then.
Cherish these moments, Claus. I lost my Grandma, Grandpa, and Mom all in 2022. These are the times that will be with you forever and bring you a smile. God Bless 😊
Thanks. I couldn’t stop laughing around the nine minute mark because I recognise something of my wife and I in the way you described your parents. You either laugh or you cry. Cheers from Australia.
Chocolate glaze on Salmon, hmmm? May have to try that one. It's great you have a good heart and do what you can for your parents. My Dad is still kicking and at 84 he is still a hot mess. He loves to fish too as he is a retired charter boat captain living in Florida. Good day Claus!
I'm lucky that my parents are in good mental health, both over 80. Food has a big part in that I believe. Fresh out of own garden, + elk and deer from local forest, fish from the river 20m from the house. Nice of You to help them as You do. And funny stories pile up for us, thanks 🥰
My 90+ year old grandmother is getting internet and cable tv installed and I'm the "IT guy"... So far we narrowed her use of the new remote down to a handful of buttons.
My elderly mother lives with me, and it's a shit show. Half the time, she thinks my house is hers. She can't remember what she's done from one minute to the next. She's a nightmare with an iPad or smartphone. She's never met a scam she won't fall for. And, she has a freaking job! I don't know what they pay her to do, but they love her.
Great story, reminds me of looking after my parents before they passed. Moments of insanity, frustration, incredulity, hilarity, family and finally realisation that this will be me if I live long enough
Its amazing how every aged parents ideas and mannerisms are the same the world over , you made me remember my grand parents with a smile and a bit of a laugh
Wasn't this a Monty Python skit? Seriously, it's good to see and hear about families that love each other and go through life's challenges together. Been down this road.
That was funny as fuck. I cried through most of it. My Dad is the same with not washing his coffee mug. It's white porcelain but it's brown on the inside and I have to scrape it to get it clean. My step-dad is the same with washing plates, just brushes the crumbs off the plate after his morning toast, then puts it back in the cupboard. They both drive me fucking nuts. Thanks you for the belly laughs Claus.
Dear God sounds like you had a wonderful stress free visit with the parents. Glad to see you're still alive and free. As free as you can be in Canada anyway. :)
The way Claus's mind wanders all over the place when narrating tank videos, I expected him to go completely off subject here and talk about nothing but game statistics.
I’ve had this experience with my mother who lives several provinces away and her off-brand tablet. She doesn’t like “fishy fish” but loved the Salmon I made for her, when I visited. She told all her friends, how I fishy it was. She also doesn’t like Hagen Dazs, except when I buy it and hide it in her freezer.
It's hard to laugh, hits too close to home. It's stories like this that I couldn't watch Everyone Loves Raymond. I went to visit family in Italy for the summer after graduating college, upon return they had purchased a Time-Share. 🤦 My lesson that I learned to late was don't ask for what they want, cause your now the parent. My dad's sister turned 100 in February, fortunately she smart as a tack. She says she sleeps well, but keeps waking up, that one threw me for a loop. An amazing dry sense of humour.
OH MAN. I can second to that almost 100%. We have to take care of our parents, they tend to be like babies. And yes, sometimes it's frustrating to get the message through.
What an honest video. I'm close to your age. I watched my parents go through this with their parents many years ago and am now getting close to doing that with them. This is so accurate. Keep your chin up you're doing great.
Your folks are lucky to have you. They were apparently good parents to have raised, and took care of you. Now its your turn to take care of them. Such is the circle of life.
Fish: Aluminum foil, put a little butter on the foil, lay the filet on the foil, but a dab of butter on top of the filet. Garlic, a couple dashed of garlic POWDER (not garlic salt), sprinkle paprika on the filet. Completely wrap up filet in the foil, place on grill (I prefer a propane Hibachi grill). Cook on medium-high until your mouth waters from the aroma, it is done. Do that individually for each filet. Remove from foil when done, place on plate and use a little fresh-squeezed lemon. Side Dish: White rice and green peas. This recipe is for white fish (I prefer Orange Roughy, but that is pretty pricey, will work for any white fish). I have not tried this with salmon.
My mum has moved in with us after dad passed. She is in her 80's and starting to get senility. Mostly she is fine but then evey so often shes like a child. Winter here so I put the heater on, went away and did something else. I came back 20 mins later and the heater is off. I stoipped and looked at it and asked her about it. I dont know she says and then adds "the TV is off too" They are both on a circuit concrolled by a switch on a power point on the skirting board. I look at the switch which is now in the off position. I asked "who turned of the switch?" She blurts out "it wasnt me!" Of course it was her. There was no one else in the house. Donuts...I bought some (3) the other day for us to have with an afternoon coffee. I showed the to her and my wife and before I could react she grabbed one and scoffed it down like a child. I have lots more tales of strange things she is begining to do. You just have to be understanding and try not to be annoyed. Life is short and life can be tough.
My parents don’t even know they are gaslighting us when they say they are too old to drive the 800 km here, but they will drive the 1000km to Calgary or 1200km to penticton.
Yes, my 87 year old dad in NE Iowa has decided that all trees are bad, and he's cutting down any of them over 25 years old , whether they need it of not...... Oof Dah!!!
your POV is becoming a new staple watch, This was a great story. My folks are both gone now. but I remember lots of nutty moments like this. Thanks Claus, fun stuff. 😎 T
This was so fun and laughing listening your story with your mom and dad. I am happy for you, you still have them with you, so, keep taking care of them and keep enjoying the great times like that , they are so precious. I wish you more new recipes from your Dad. :-) See you on your next video, even if it's not related to WOT , it's so funny to listen you. Keep going the great work. (from Paul from Quebec)
This reminds me of a fried herring I tried to eat in Denmark. It was sweet. It was almost a fishy candy. That was the time when gum recession was Illness number 1 there. And they were all "how does this happen?" - Well, perhaps not pour a gallon of syrup over fried herring... couldn't stomach more than four bites.
If you are a boomer and still have parents (or even a parent), just be grateful. I lost my father 48 years ago, lost my mother 21 years ago. Careless of me, eh?
@@ThePhoenix198 Absolutely sorry for your losses. My wife and I lost fathers early and still have mothers living large. That said, those of us lucky enough to have parents in their late 80's, 90's or older can relate to Claus' parent videos, and yes, sometimes, you just need to laugh. I wouldn't assume for a second that any of us with long-lived, elderly parents are not grateful. Peace.
On your next WOT video where an SPG goes off and drowns itself, you MUST say "I think we've found a new way of making fish!"
Chocolate covered Salmon... clever Canadians.
Claus will eventually turn into his father. And in 25 years when Claus is his fathers age we're going to be getting a video entitled, "Look, I figured out a new way of making fish."
Every week.

Hey! You got your chocolate on my Salmon!
You got salmon on my donut!

That long?
Its Sunday night here and your video was just the thing to make me smile. I love your stories about your folks they way you express their personalities is almost like being there. :) Cheers for the sharing.
Claus's epistle came across like a Monty python sketch. "Ah confectionery!" Crunchy frog coming up!
You are an international treasure, a gentleman and a scholar; and a good son. All the best to you and your family.
be glad, you have your mom and dad....my died last year..
Condolences, but you have to see that the story is light hearted and not a serious complaint.
@@saviourself687 sorry for making you feel sad....
My condolences.

Lets agree to get rid of the Metric system !! Centimeters? What the Hell is that! Give me inches, pounds, gallons and miles !!
