Claus, I have solved this problem. If you have an old broken microwave oven that you can put your keys/ cellphone in. (You will not be able to receive calls from anyone with phone in oven. But you will not be surveilled from that phone either). The oven's shielding stops not only microwave radiation from escaping but the digital signals from your devices as well. Remember, just because you are paranoid does not mean no one is out to get you!
Not true. I just tested it, and my phone still rings, and it's still connected to wifi. I have a personal, and a work cell. I closed my personal phone in the microwave, and called it with my work phone, it rang.
I tried it with mine and had my brother call me. he was miles away. I did not receive the call. I have no idea why it worked for you unless it was a matter of distance. Also, I live in the boonies where cell towers are far apart, and I am pretty far away from the closest one. It also might be that 4g or 5g is able to make it through the shielding? (If so, enjoy that leukemia in a few years everybody). I don't know your situation. It worked for me a couple of years ago when I tried it on my phone. That is all I can say. @@XITroll13
And here I thought the coffee pot was going to play a role in this. The Claus I've come to know and love would have gone back in the kitchen and checked to see if the coffee pot did the trick, or as others here have already stated, an old cookie tin. The world has outsmarted itself.
The effectiveness of blocking signals, including radio waves, can be influenced by factors such as the thickness and density of the material. Cast iron, often found in pots or pans with lids (put the keys in a pot), can act as a rudimentary Faraday cage due to its thickness and density. Effectiveness: Aluminum (8), Copper (9), Steel (7), Iron (7), Cast Iron (7*), Brass (7), Silver (9), Gold (10), Tin (6), Lead (9), Zinc (6)
Put the keys in the coffee pot. The coffee pot works just as well as a real Faraday Box at keeping electronic signals away from the keys. Just make sure the lid to the metal coffee pot is on.
I have the exact same box and did the same test coincidently, Mine also did not work. Ended up lining it with aluminum foil and it works now... Rumor has it you can just leave them in your microwave and that would be sufficient in a motel room etc.

A simple metal box will do the same thing. Radio wave do not penetrate a conductive metal as long as the gaps in the metal mesh are smaller than the wavelength of the radio wave.
@@davidmoore8741 you don’t think a regulation requiring auto makers to make keyless entry more secure would be a good thing? What is the minimum amount of government regulation you will accept?
Hello Claus, thanks for the video! I don't own a car with keyless go, but try the cheap solution: an empty, cleaned bag of potato chips. It works with smartphones, so it should work with car keys too. 😉
Take the battery out of fob every night 😁 or perhaps put it in a metal pot and then put the pot inside your oven 😁 your oven could turn out to be the most powerful Faraday box ever even for mobile phones 🤷♂️
Maybe check distances, i.e., if you move __ feet away does the box make a difference? That box appears to be lined with the copper (and nickel?) infused fabric that is sold as RFID blocking material. Do you have a metal lock box? Might be worth comparing the results with that vs this box.
Put your keys in the microwave. It's shielded after all. BTW, throw a hot dog in there with the keys and cook for 3 minutes. Now your keyfob will be fully charged thanks to the microwaves going right to the battery of the fob.
Hey Claus, I know someone personally who does alll the reviews for Amazon products coming straight from China. He is a gold member meaning he no longer has to pay for the product before evaluating. So here is how the scam works for all their products if you were to request a job with them. Once hired you purchase the products. If you give the product a good to excellent review you get to keep the product (under $100) and you get paid $10.. if you give it a bad review you need to return the product, pay for shipping, wait 30 plus days for refund, get paid $10 and never get to review that line of product again. Keep fighting the good fight, Pas still playing wot?
My car is in my garage so I guess I have a two step security system🤪😜😂 Also is your spare key anywhere near the car as well? Question did something happen to Marty? We never see him anymore. I hope he is ok?
didn't you live in the middle of nowhere? Probably that box has a device inside that already transmitted the data of your key and the coordinates to the highest bidder.
Sorry you got ripped off Claus, bad luck mate? I got a pouch AND a card version from a well-known car accessory outlet for everyday, outside use. They can scan your "contactless" debit/credit cards in the same way just by standing next to you on a bus/train or by walking beside or behind you!!

Glad my cars are old enough that I still have to put the key in the ignition and turn it
My car is so old the ignition lock doesn't require the key to turn it, lol.
Ive got a manual with a kill switch thats starting to act up. Even I cant start the damn thing sometimes

@@XITroll13 Nice catch!
Use a metal lock box. That'll actually create a Faraday cage.
That's why I don't have keyless ignition. Ditto on entry. 😊

You could make the ammo-can Faraday cage in DIY Prepper TV's "3 Ways to Build a Faraday Cage" video.

Faraday cages do work.
But not if they're made (copied) in China.

The company who sells the mechanic to read the keyfob! Also make the Faraday box so they can screw you twice😅
Hello Claus,
thanks for the video!

perhaps its a 2 part system and you need the bags that come with it?
Thanks Claus for this video. Just out of curiosity... would a Lipobag/fireproofbag work in this case aswell?
I bought the same crap 3 days ago ffs. PS no one will steal a Subaru, love ya buddy
its software defined radio transeivers. its not as easy as you think. new vehicles use a rolling code to unlock and start
Just get an Illy coffee can. And as a bonus your keys will smell delicious.
An aluminum can should help. The thickness of the aluminum should be at least 2 millimeters. This provides reliable protection.
Take the battery out of fob every night 😁 or perhaps put it in a metal pot and then put the pot inside your oven 😁 your oven could turn out to be the most powerful Faraday box ever even for mobile phones 🤷♂️
Claus, try wrapping your FOB with aluminum foil. It works for me!
Nice lifejacket, now just pray it was not made in China
😃
You should try storing your keys in a WoT loot box. Everyone knows there's nothing good in there.
😂
Maybe check distances, i.e., if you move __ feet away does the box make a difference?
That box appears to be lined with the copper (and nickel?) infused fabric that is sold as RFID blocking material.

I like my single a small key to start my truck and small door fob instead of the huge fobs now that i try to put in my pocket.
Put your keys in the microwave. It's shielded after all. BTW, throw a hot dog in there with the keys and cook for 3 minutes. Now your keyfob will be fully charged thanks to the microwaves going right to the battery of the fob.
The box has to be sealed and the metal latch closed. I tested this box, even if cracked a tiny bit it won't work.
Claus, would never happen to me, cage of Faraday, maybe. Lifted bobine would already be enough....and other mechanic .......

The only thing funnier would have been if you put your keys in the box and couldn't get them back out. Hilarity ensues...
Nice house... if, in fact, that is your house. Or, did the owners put their house keys in a faraday box? 🤔
Is your other key fob in one of your pockets? I want to know.
try wrapping your keys in aluminium foil. It blocks all electromagnetic waves (which are used to send signals from a key to a car), so it should work

AY UP CLAUS
It doesn't work on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. It only works on Faradays! 😅
A real one is cheap and easy to make, or just use an old microwave you don't use anymore.
garbage, like so many other's claiming to be faraday cages, I knew as soon as I saw it.
Where is your other car key fob ? If they are not both in the box, the car will detect the one in the house.
How about if i just line a simple cardboard box with tinfoil?
Add aluminum foil tape and it will block the signal
If I remember correctly, a true Faraday box, or Faraday cage, needs to be grounded, or attached to a ground, to work properly....
You can make your own, very easy videos online
do you know what a Faraday cage is ?
You can accomplish they same thing with aluminum foil. I've tested it, wrapped my cell phone in foil and it disappears.

I line the inside of my wallet with aluminum duck tape
Just get a 5-speed. Problem solved.

Subaru allows you to deactivate your fob. Simple
just put your keys inside your tin foil hat..should work better
It didn't come with a tin foil hat? 😮
