How I Got Into MIT, Yale, UCs as an International Student!

- I've gotten a lot of requests to talk about my stats and extracurriculars, so here it is! Please don't take this video in the wrong way: my intention was to share my application details as a Canadian. If you enjoyed watching, subscribe for more content from me!
Also, you might've realized that I didn't talk about my essays. Part of it is that they were pretty personal, and I don't want to share them on the internet. Another part of it is that I don't know why they worked. Arguably, essays are more subjective than test scores and extracurriculars. They are also more individualized, and I don't want people to take my essays as a formula for how to write their own.

The fact that she has a 97.5% and is not in the top 5 got me scared for my future kids getting into college lol
Plss don't force your kid to study in India parent force their child they want their child to be best in study but sometimes is goes wrong and children sucide because he can't beat the competition else students start's self doubting so don't do it plss

i mean if you get 97.5% out of a class of 100, you would expect that there would be 2-3 people who get higher

Ahh I'm so glad I found this video! It basically gave me a sigh of relief because I thought an international student would have to do some really crazy stuff to get into MIT, which is my dream school. I'm living in the US and unsure if I could get a green card by the time I apply to college, because so far my biggest accomplishment is just qualifying for Pink MOP (which you've probably heard of since you did math comps too)

Hey, awesome video! I just wanted to ask as to which transcripts you had to attach to your application since you didn't receive a GPA? Was it just for grade 11 courses? Thanks!
Wow, our experiences are really similar (guess it’s a Canadian thing). We even got the same SAT score at the same time in the same year of highschool. As a current junior aspiring to get into MIT math, I’ve been learning ahead in math and participating in a bunch of math competitions (but moreso out of my passion for math than to simply get admitted). However, I only recently learned about AP exams and so I’m predicting I won’t take as many APs as I’d like to by the end of highschool(currently I’m self-studying for bc and physics c mechanics; next year I’m planning to take at least physics c em, stats, chem, and lang) Hopefully I share the same fate as you and get into MIT, but ultimately it’s a luck thing!

i think i'll end up having a hard time making my application half as good as yours :(( my high school doesn't really have a lot of extracurricular activities to offer, and they rarely participate in contests + covid came :// i plan on going to a state uni for shs which hopefully would open doors to opportunities :- D

OMMGG CONGRATS! That was amazing! I'm going to take Ap Chem this fall and super nervous because it looks soo complicated, could you please give some advice for how to do well on it?

for ap chem in particular, i went through A LOT of the practice exams. best of luck for your test!
@qwerty if your school doesnt offer it, try self-studying at taking it at ap exam centres that may be available at schools nearby. if that isnt a choice, know that colleges will get a school transcript type thing that tells them that ur school doesnt offer APs, so the admissions committee will know and won't expect you to take them. as long as ur doing the most rigorous and engaging courses available to you, it should level u on the same playing field in terms of advanced courses. hope that helped!!

Did you only take the AMCs two years, or did you take it before your AIME qualifications? Congrats by the way! I'm a 3 time AIME qualifier, but I was just wondering :)
nahh i took it in grade 8 and 9 too, but i didnt make aime! thank you, and congratulations on your own achievements!
Did you self study for the APs? Because my school dosent offer them, or any classes so basically the entire grade has the same schedule and classes(it differs on classes in the actual grade) and they dont affer any ap/ib/honors classes.

Hey! So basically I have heard and been given advice from many teachers that a research paper is a must for you're profile. Did you make one? Also is there a section where we could list research papers and journals?? I am in 11th currently and am confused about what to do.

ok so i mostly have a problem wiith extra curriculars, in our school, we dont really have any extra curricular activities after grade 7 (theyre removed from the syllabus so students can focus on studying or whatever) so what can one do if thats the case?
Hi,
I think you could apply for extracurricular activities outside of your school. For example I am part of amnesty international youth and help in a organization that gives people in need free food. Just look out for organizations near you! You can also do internships in hospitals, museums or other places.
Playing an instrument or being in a sport club is also very good. If there are no sport clubs you can just start running and write that down on your admisson.
If there are any MUN conferences near you I would definitely recommend you to take part in some of these.

What a nice video ! I want to study in USA. I am ranker in my school and even received student of the year award. My 10 th percentage is 97.60 and 11 th percentage is 94. I also won a school level sport final. Am I able to get into mit and if not suggest me other university.

im honestly not too sure about a-levels, but im sure you can learn more about specific school through their websites!

Man, I think the way is for me to study a lot of math because in all the videos on how to get into MIT as someone who lives in another country, that's the way (in fact, I live in Brazil and the teaching here is terrible, so I'm going to have to work hard to get it)

Do you have the International Baccalaureate at your school? That would probably be the best bet for you.
Would you be able to share which program you are accepted to at MIT?

im not too sure about medicine, but many of these universities offer need-based aid, so if you qualify, i'd assume so!

Depending on the major you applied some majors are more difficult to get in like CS.
Being an Indian student my curricular is a lot more different that yours but i can say you are a maths freak and i will be looking forward for your guidance 🤍

Do mit provide any 100% scholarship iam not being greedy its just my family is middle class and i dont want my dream to be a burden to them , secondly they are saying you should be active in extracurricular activities like community service, internship but where will i get this qualification right after 12th
